    Re: **The little things thread**

The new pitching mechanic. Once you get this down, and you pull off a pitch when it really counts, there's deep satisfaction there. I'd say the same holds true for the new metered throwing mechanic. It's just very rewarding to make a play using these new controls.

Today I had a game against the Tigers with Beckett pitching. Two outs, man on first and third. The count was 2-2 and I threw a curve ball. The concentration was intense and the payoff of Beckett getting the strikeout was great. It just adds a whole new level of immersion to the game.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

even though this went against me..........

      My Cubs vs the Brewers:

DLee is on 1st with Ramirez up. Aramis hits a shot - off the pitchers head, he drops to the ground holding his head and rolling on the around. Meanwhile, the ricochet stays in the air and goes to the 1st baseman who was still on the bag, holding the runner on and catches it to turn a double play against me. Pitcher out with a concussion.

stupid me... I had Griffey running for a fly ball in foul territory at the GAP.. he made the catch, but I kept him running into the wall (accidentally kept the analog stick down).. he sprained his wrist - out 1-2 weeks (opening day too).. Guess he's not happy with me

Maybe already mentioned, but the way the batter's box chalk outline becomes dirtier and harder to discern through the latter innings.

has anybody mentioned the time of day progression in the game? It's amazing how accurate the lighting is in most of the stadiums and the progress from day to dusk to night for those 6 and 7 pm starts. It's also a nice subtle touch to see how the shadows change over the course of a day game.

Yeah this is something I really find great about the game. Makes each batter feel unique to one another. Combine that with all the great signature style animations & its pretty damn amazing.

They've even got Will "The Thrill" Clark's signature stance along with Matt Williams. Although I'm disappointed that Albert Belle and Juan Gonzalez aren't included.

how about the scoreboards? sure they don't have the out of town ones working, but they do have working "your game" scoreboards, with your lineups posted. neat

also - another "neat" thing - I was viewing a replay when I had guys warming in the pen - you actually see them there warming up (I don't know about during the game, but at least in replay mode it looks cool)

Ground ball to 3B. Easy throw to first. But my first baseman comes off the bag while stretching (the stretch wasn't really necessary), and the runner was called safe. I have NEVER seen that in a video game before.

Three things happened tonight while I played an Exhibition game. Red Sox(me) versus Tigers

                          1. Tigers put on "Papi" shift, you know the one where the second baseman stands in shallow right field and the shortstop is almost at second base. I thought that was cool. Something that I have never seen the computer do to me before. Papi then ripped a ball to right center and was still able to get a double. Barely!

                          2. Double play ball, ground ball to Lowell, Lowell throws it to Pedroia, Pedroia steps on the bag and the attempts a jumping throw when Guillen slides in feet first taking out Pedroia, but as he takes him out Pedroia was attempting to throw the ball to first, so as he hits him the ball goes flying up in the air and out towards centerfield instead of being thrown to first base. It was very cool to see.

                          3. Sox player, can't remember who hit it, hits a rope to Guillen at first base, the ball goes in and out of his glove bouncing and rolling back towards home plate, and as the ball is rolling the pitcher (Bonderman in this case) runs over and instead of picking up the ball and throwing the ball or something to that degree, he scoops it up underhand style back to Guillen covering at first. It was one of those scoops that hardly stayed in his hand. It was fantastic to see and very realistic.

P.S. Does anyone else think that the cutscenes look fantastic?!And the new Cool Base uni's look great in the cutscenes as well!
I have a feeling that after all the patches this game will be fantastic! Last years patch really improved 2K7 that's for sure. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Later

Just had a great game playing with the Yanks vs. RedSox. It was the bottom of the 9th, Matsui was on second with 2 outs. The ball was line drive hit over Pedroia's head, so I sent Matsui home rounding third. The ball was gunned from right field and thrown a little short. Off the hop, Varitek grabs the ball and leaps backwards for the tag and makes it, what looked like inches from Matsui's hand hitting the plate on a head first dive. It made me jump straight off the chair and was I speachless for a good 5 seconds as I watched the replay. What a way to end the bottom of the 9th

just a question, who cares? honestly, why did you even have to respond? i guess it's just out of the question that anyone can like the game. he even mentioned that the game will be a lot better after the patch, it's not like he's saying it's perfect, he likes some stuff about the game and posted it, get over it.
