Playing as the Iowa Cubs against Durham. A Durham hitter swung and missed for a strike out and the ball hit him in the chest!Comment

Played a game at Shea with Braves/Mets and noticed that the mound and area in front of home plate were "watered"...i.e. the dirt was darker than the homeplate area. First time I've ever seen that in a game."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: **The little things thread**
I love being able to break up double plays on the base paths. Also I went to throw out Griffey when I was playing the reds on a routine ground ball to short and Freddy Sanchez plowed into Jack Wilson instead of just running through him like in previous years past. The variations in throws aren't bad either.« My Teams »

That's real cool, and I'm real happy to hear that you all are getting takeout slides often. That killed a lot of my gameplay experience last year because I lost some close games not being able to take out a double play w/ Rollins or Utley (damn Pat Burrell).i like how they break up the double play..i was the mets and reyes got pummled!! the sound for it was gr8..oh and the coolest thing...rollins hits a deep fly..im beltran..i jump try 2 rob d hr..hes got it..but as he hits the wall..the ball pops out!!! its in play..and rollins running hard gets a triple! that was awesome!!!!Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: **The little things thread**
I've noticed w. the new pitching interface that when you throw a perfect pitch (and the little green circle flashes twice) the ump gives you more leniency on the corners of the zone. I threw a 1-1 two-seamer with Hughes that was a perfect release and it was almost a full length-of-a-baseball outside the zone but the ump gave me the strike, similar to some umps giving pitchers the call if they hit the catcher's mitt even though it's a tad outside.
They added a new bobble animation against the OF wall. I hit a deep one to LF and Manny went back on the ball and it short hopped off the wall and Manny bobbled it and then it rolled away from him, pretty cool."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: **The little things thread**
- The emotion from the dugouts
- When away team has bases loaded and you're on the mound, whole crowd is standing up.
- Catchers calling the game and giving signals.
- Option to finally have the Rogers Centre dome closed.
- The amount of different types of hits I'm seeing.
- Difference between a good infielder and a bad infielder. D ratings finally seem to matter.
- Had ball hit in between LF and CF with both fielders coming in on the ball, I never called the CPU off and we ended up colliding realistically, unlike last years collision animation. Although it was a big WTF? moment for me during the game, I knew I should have pressed the call off button because it was right in between both of us.Owner, Spear Interactive

Re: **The little things thread**
along with what everybody else has said, I love that on a ball hit to the gap between 3B and SS, that when the SS fields it, he will stop, plant and then throw. A much appreciated new animation compared to last where the SS would throw completely off balance with no sense of momentum and still make a good throw.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: **The little things thread**
I love the feel of transition playing from an MLB game to a AAA game. When you play an MLB team, get ready for war...whereas with a AAA team, you come to expect a couple of errors per side because as previously mentioned, defensive ratings actually matter.
But the nicest little thing ever is the pitching interface, and how when you throw your slider for example...the amount of torque you put on indicates exactly what the ball should do. Not enough? The ball will come across flat and has a great tendancy to "hang" if you started it inside the zone. Too much torque? Ball is almost impossible to control. And I know the real life feeling when you throw a slider and it just absolutely kareems into the dirt 2 feet early with some unreal spin and you ask yourself...was...was that a good pitch?
You can over-pitch, under-pitch, pitch in all kinds of counts, and best of all, it's a system that can be picked up in about an hour...but there are so many intangibles that will make it a long, long time to perfect.Proud to be a Toronto Sports Fan, no matter how many losses and disappointments.

Re: **The little things thread**
Red Sox (me) versus Yankees at Fenway, I can't remember who hit the ball but he (maybe Cabrera) hit real screamer towards left center and just before the ball got out into the outfield Julio Lugo made a verticle jump up to make an amazing catch and the ball hit off the top of his glove, kicked about 10 to 20 feet in the air and then dropped out into right center field where Drew finally got to the ball. Never saw anything like it! Defintiely not in 2K7. Little things? This was a pretty big highlight. LaterComment

Playing in Fenway:
Guys going crazy in the Bullpen when their team hits a homerun.
The ball girl making a nice backhand stab at a ball as she comes off her chair on a foul ball. So cool.
Manny making a running catch and dropping into a sommersault after the catch.
Beckett pumping his fist in the air after srtiking out Giambi looking with the bases loaded.
Manny and Papi's Homerun animations are very cool. Manny's hands both up in the air with the bomb.
I love how the player ratings make a huge difference in the field, and how actually replacing a guy with better skills in the late innings makes sense and is important now. Coco Crisp is infinitely faster than JD Drew, and come the 8th and 9th, if Drew has batted, he is enjoying a nice view of the game on the bench.
Making sure that you position your defense to the situation. Especially make sure your outfielders are deep enough with power hitters at the dish. Big difference.
Love the expressions and looks of disgust on the batter's face when the ump calls a strike early in the count that they did not agree with. Awesome.
Beckett's windup is a lot quicker than Dice-K's. Well no kidding, but cool that the game makes you adjust for it.
The game looks so different at 5pm than it does at a Noon game. The colors are very nicley done with regards to the time of day.
Wind is a major factor with balls in the outfield. Better get used to calling off the other fielders on a windy day. You cannot camp under a ball right off the bat. You have to watch the drift and adjust.
I actually really like the Pick-off attempt camera. Great view over the shoulder at that guy sneaking off first, and then using the throw meter for accuracy and how fast you throw the ball over. Very cool.
So far, I am enjoying the game, but need to get a better grasp on the pitching on the All Star level to make a game of it. I am good til the 5th, and then the trouble starts.

-When it's cold, the fans wear cold weather clothing, as do the players
-When Thome plays at the Jake, A LOT OF BOOING~!, Also a fan screaming "Throw Thome the slider, he can't hit it!"
-Having to call off players on fly balls
-Watching a Pitcher try to back hand a liner up the middle
-Everyone has said it, but catchers giving signals.
Edit: How can I forget, when you popup a meatball pitch, watch the player window that just hit it. Dude goes freakin nuts.
And when star players fly out, they barely run the bases.Too Old To Game Club
