Re: IGN review up.
I haven't played it yet (and probably won't buy it), but I feel at least a little validated for encouraging people to actually think before blindly spending their money.
I'll still give the demo (if and when it ever arrives) a chance, but this type of effort (from the looks of it) is what had me concerned.Comment

Re: IGN review up.
Good thing they spent all that time making the trading card feature instead of making sure the game ran smoothly.. They shouldn't be adding modes and gimmicks until the game plays well to begin with. Pretty common sense.Mariners Seahawks Sonics UW Sounders

"The features are plentiful and will keep most busy for some time, but for this year’s best and purest baseball offering you’ll have to look elsewhere."
Unless you have a 360, then you'll have to play MVP '05 or High Heat 2004 on your PC...Comment

Re: IGN review up.
Yep, the mediocre to poor reviews are going to start rolling in now...
I kind of had a feeling when the demo never showed up and the vids were disappointing what we were in store for.
Oh, well. There are plenty of good games for the 360 that will get my $60 instead.Comment

Next-gen simulation sports games are gauged by how closely they emulate the look and feel of the real thingComment

Re: IGN review up.
Yeah, I was going to buy this today, but now I think I'll wait for the "alleged" demo. (not based on the IGN review, but on the stuff mentioned in the Impressions thread) If the demo doesn't sway me back, I'll probably pick up College Hoops 2k8 and just play one of my old baseball games again this year.Comment

Re: IGN review up.
There's bound to be people on this board who wanted this game to be a great game so badly, that they'll come out and rip IGN and defend the honor of Ben Brinkman, etc. But the reality is, for all of the minor missteps of IGN here and there, it's EXTREMELY rare that they'll mis-rate a consensus good or great game in the mid- or low- 7's. In recent memory, Assassin's Creed got a 7.7, which some people felt was too low....but looking back on it, that was NOT one of the year's elite titles, and not worthy of the 9.5's it was getting from other sites.
Nate Ahearn said on a TRL podcast two months ago that the framerate and hiccup issues were concerning him and that they better fix them prior to release. It doesn't appear that happened.
7.4 is a fair score when you take a 7.9 game (2k7), add a bunch of gimmicks and features, but do nothing with your extra year of time to improve well-documented flaws in the game play. Fielding still sounds like a mess, and the timing/framerate of hitting still sounds broken. Too bad.Comment

Re: IGN review up.
Hahah ive been saying this since day one..... IT is UNREAL that they will waste time with Cards and minor league bs. And then Ben saying well we need a reason for people to keep playing....PLAYING WHAT?!?!!? Baseball this is no baseball, with glitches here and there as all the reviews say it. Hey BEN how bought making a BASEBALL game THAT WORKS then put in your stupid gimmicks. Fix the base and add to it, you freakn morons at 2k...thanks for ruining another year of baseball for everyone with a 360 you idiots. /rantComment
