Re: IGN review up.
-<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="http://ads.ign.com/advertisers/DartRichMedia_1_03/DartRichMedia_1_03.js"></SCRIPT> While the NFL and its exclusivity dealings have undoubtedly garnered more of the public spotlight than the MLB's, let us not forget that the deal that 2K struck eliminated one of the greatest (and my personal favorite) baseball series of all time in MVP Baseball -- particularly the '05 edition.
In other words, if you've ever been critical of what EA and its anti-competitive behavior did to next-gen football, then you're obligated to apply the same rhetoric to 2k and its exclusive (3rd party) baseball franchise. 360 users don't have The Show as an option, so 2k is every bit the villian that Madden is for us.Comment

Re: IGN review up.
Considering IGN gave a fantastic game, NBA 2k8, a 7.8, I guess MLB 2k8 is going to be pretty darned good too.The greatest team in the history of sports.

Re: IGN review up.
I'm sure the writer made a lot of accurate statements but the tone of the article was awful. He still seems pissy about MVP (LOL @ calling MVP one of the greatest baseball franchises ever. It lasted three years and the first two years were marginal games and the third was fun to play but hardly a sim) and I really want to see the framerate issue for myself. If it's only on cutscenes then I do not care. I have a feeling a lot of people are blowing it way out of proportion."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: IGN review up.
I personally think this game is going to be a blast, I played for about an hour at a buddys house and we both agreed that the pitching and fielding are a lot of fun. Its going to take a bit of time before I can actually play a competitve game. That being said, when was the last time you had to practice anything in video game baseball?( framerate was at 720 on his xbox and only saw a slight stutter ( but never while hitting or pitching)Comment

Actually the cut-scene run quite nicely.

Re: IGN review up.
The difference between the "flaws" in NBA 2k8 vs. MLB 2k8 is that the flaws of the latter are more integral to gameplay. But in both cases, 2k's scores took a step back from last year for failure to address key issues plaguing the earlier titles. Sports titles don't see a significant jump in score from year to year unless there's a serious effort to improve gameplay and correct glitches (see NHL '08, or, on a lower level, even NBA Live '08).
A game that stagnates, and tries to cover it with features will see their score actually take a step back.Comment

Re: IGN review up.
I agree that NBA 2k8 is a fantastic game, but it also has flaws, particularly in the graphical department, not to mention pre-canned animations that many 2k fans have just "learned to live with" (soft big men down low, layup animations that start from the top of the key and can't be stopped)."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
