Ya they took out batter hitting zone this year. Though it will show up when you face a batter whose Inside Edge you own

How do you hit with Swing stick 2.0, and just swing Swing stick?

It's really hard! I wish I knew, but I'm not giving up on it. Hell the CPU can't hit either. I haven't even seen a HR yet! Although I've only played 2 games.

Count me in as one of the people happy to find out about calling off the catcher w. the A button. I can't wait to try that out, for some reason the CPU loves to call a ton of curveballs w. Joba. It's like 2K mistakenly made his curve his 2nd pitch instead of his slider (even though his slider is rated 40 points higher).

"How do you pull up the ptichers statline? How many pitches he's throw, his confidence, etc?"

Press the directional pad to the right over and over and it will scroll through the pitchers stats. Press to the left and it will scroll though the batters stats.

Can anyone explain the sliding. It seems they slide automatically but there must be a manual aspect to sliding

Everything is contextually mapped out with the right-analog stick, and doesn't alter based on which base you're going forward/back into. There are eight directions you can choose from that will change how you slide:

North: Head first slide into the base
South: Feet first slide into the base
East: Feet first hook-slide to the right of the base
West: Feet first hook-slide to the left of the base
Northwest: Head first hook-slide into the left of the base
Northeast: Head first hook-slide into the right of the base
Southwest: Feet first hook-slide past the left of the base with a late catch of the base with the arm
Southeast: Feet first hook-slide past the right of the base with a late catch of the base with the arm

Why it sometimes happens automatically? I do not know...

Thanks. Maybe it's not automatic and it's me hitting the RS without even knowing it

That's baseball. That is what happens in real games. It is soo realistic. If you think its too realistic or too easy..then turn the strike zone off...to make it even more realistic..

Minor detail, but is there any way to make your outfielder make an easy toss to the cutoff man after they catch a fly ball with no one on base?

When the CPU does this, they have a cool animation of the outfielder tossing it back in casually, but when I do it, my guy always rears up like he's trying to throw someone out. It's just an aesthetic thing

Re: The "How do you do that...." thread

I posted this in another thread - this is what the in game tips states.

Has anyone practiced enough to notice this is working. To me it feels like it is, I just want some opinions.

According to the in game tips - not the manual- but the in game tips you can also influence your swing with the RS. For example, if you are righty and pull back to step then push left - it is a pull swing. The closer you press straight up the less "biased" your swing is.

So if you press up-left diagnally it;s less of a pull swing than if you press straight left. A pitch outside I try to press a bit outside.

                        Seems to be doing something.

Also the timing of the step will affect ground balls or fly outs.

Yes, it works, and it works well. What I mean by that is this is purely an influence for your swing... in the end, how you time it will ultimately determine where the ball goes. But if you attempt to pull an inside pitch and time it early enough, there's a good chance it would kill somebody if it were a straight head shot.

Could they improve it? Of course. Not as much in the influence as in the hit variety, the timing leeway (sometimes if you swing too early your hitter will wait for a second and lunge at it to make contact rather than to miss) or the number of foul balls... but it's definitely a good start.

My main gripe is that I can't seem to swing and miss. If I time it correctly and if it's in or around the strike zone, I'm guaranteed contact. Again, I only have the demo... so maybe lowering the contact slider helps this. But this is exactly why I wanted a Zone hitting option.

By the way, has anyone ever ran through a ball as if your player should have caught it but just plain decided not to? I feel like it has something to do with pre-loading your throw. Always try to pre-load before the ball approaches you, otherwise it might just run through, crediting the hitter with a single to boot.

This is exactly right. Last night, I confirmed that the sliding directions are the same no matter which base you're going into. that'll help, for sure.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
                              Sutcliffe comes through, and....

When you are batting is there any way to check the previous locations of pitches thrown to your batter? You know, press a button and it will show the strike zone along with dots of where the previous pitches were thrown, types of pitches thrown, even on previous at bats. I thought this was in last year but it's been awhile since I played '07.

It's nice to check what the pitcher's tendencies are with certain batters
