That's hardly a problem with my pitching style because based off last years average of 165 HR's per team, you should see about 1 a game.

See the thing is how many teams actually hit exactly 165 hrs's? And how many teams actually hit 1 per day ? A lot of us get caught up in paper stats, but never really disect how the stats come to be. We handcuff players with sliders to create the realistic numbers we want.

The numbers in baseball dont happen consistently. A .250 hitter doesnt go 1-4 every single game of the year. A 20 HR guy doesnt hit 1 HR every 8 games exactly. Same thing for teams. Some teams do combine for 5-6-7 HR's in a game. Then combine for 0 the next game.

Point Im making is dont get too caught up in what happens on a game by game basis. You will be tweaking sliders until you die.

That being said the CPU will rock you unless you figure out what to do. The best thing I figured out was NOT to let star players kill me. Chipper Jones, Soriano, Pujols, Arod, ect..... will NOT see a hitable pitch from me in a close game situation. Unless they chase or flat out whiff they are getting walked. Period. That and making sure my pitcher is pretty juiced up before challenging good hitters.

Im just not having any issues with HR's this year. I cant hit any myself and I find it easy to render the CPU powerless with sliders if I want to. Im using classic pitching and batting so maybe that somewhat explains it.

I haven't had an issue with too many HRs once I figured out how to hit properly using swing stick 2.0. My original problem was that I kept pushing UP for all of my swings. This would lead to a ton of fly balls, most of them popups to the outfield. But once I learned to push the stick in the direction of the pitch (outside or inside instead of always up) I started to get a wide variety of base hits. A lot more line drives, which for some reason I find more gratifying than home runs.

Anyway, my point is that once you get the hang of the swing stick I think you'll see a wider variety of hits.

to fix this they could add individual sliders for singles, doubles triples and hr's. then you can turn them up or down to where you see fit....they have a slider to control foul balls, why not these??

why haven't they thought about this yet??

That is what Inside Edge is for. It seems everyone turns it off though. I keep it on.

i keep it on as well, but this would go a long way in assisting those that have problems with hit variety.

Re: Bottom Line: Still too many HRs

I get a variety of HRs per game - last night I played Phils at Reds and I had 4 runs - all solo shots. The Reds had 2, both solo shots. The game before that I won 7-5 - no HRs hit in that game at all. I think you will need to play a season out to the All-Star break, at least, before one can say that there are too many, or not enough of anything in any baseball game. Take a look at a random players split stats and see how the numbers fluctuate month to month.

Here's an extreme example - Chris Shelton, formerly of the Tigers, hit 10 HRs in April 2006. That's a pace for a 60 HR season. He finished 2006 with 16 and didn't even play in the majors in 2007.

Tell 'em YBF! For some reason I got a good laugh from your post. I like the "push them mofo's off the plate" part. Makes me want to go and play the game.

Re: Bottom Line: Still too many HRs

I think a lot of HR's have to do where you play.

I adjusted the sliders and played in Texas as the Phillies.

95 Degrees and Humid. Myers vs McCarthy.

Utley hits a solo shot in the 1st...Rangers hit 2 in the 3rd (Salty and Blalock). I tie the game in the 9th with a 3 run shot by Rollins. That's not too many and is actually rather realistic on a humid day in Arlington.

But when I played in "pitchers parks" or on cold days I don't get many HR's hit.

lol this gave me a great laugh too hahaha.

Has anybody tried lowering the HR ratings for some players for problems with too many HUMAN hr's??

I solved the problem by lowering the Power sliders for both HUMAN and AI along with moving the Skill slider way up and the HRs are no longer an issue for me or the CPU.

                          Interesting....

I thought moving the skill slider all the way up would result in more HR's.

I am going to try what you did. Can you give me specifics as far as how much you lowered the power and how much you raised the skill slider?? Thank you very much!!
