Re: 2K8 Patch Available: Official Post Patch Impressions
I highly doubt we will see a PS3 framerate fix at all this year. I think there are more problems in the engine/lighting department that can't be fixed from a patch. They may as well just hold off until the end of the summer and release a World Series 2k8 Edition with all these framerate and issues with the game. Didn't they release a World Series edition with one of the 2k games? 2k5?Comment

I'm satisfied with offline play. Not perfect but much smoother. Online is still basically unplayable. There is a small improvement online but its not much. I really hope there is something left in the oven to fix the online play. I really miss bangin out a nice double or triple header with my friends.PS4 - CoastalRyan

has there been any feedback on how their "opening weekend" event played out?Comment

I'd hate to have to sit through an online game and explain its shortcomings away.PS4 - CoastalRyan

Re: 2K8 Patch Available: Official Post Patch Impressions
This game is making me daffy. I like it so much and then this weird garbage happens. Both of these things are post patch.
I also find that my rightfielder will absoultely not go onto the warning track. I have had 2 high flyballs hit to the track in 3 games. Both were very high flies that he would have camped under easily, but for some reason he instead hits some invisible wall and just stands in the ready position until the ball lands at which point he picks it up. I can't comment on whether this happens with other outfielders but it has been at two different parks. I dont get it. The guy just stops and will not advance any farther. As I said, both times they were balls the play would have had to wait for to catch, he would have easily been in position but instead I can't move him and the ball bounces off the track and into the wall.
This sh*t makes my head hurt. Has anyone else seen this?Comment

Re: 2K8 Patch Available: Official Post Patch Impressions
Reading this thread, it is amazing how messed up this game was/is.
Teams not being able to adjust lineups. The CPU not stealing. The email being a year off. The game freezing all the time.
Look, video games should be fun, not a headache just to play a game or use the games basic features. I am so dissapointed in 2k8. I loved 2k7, even pre-patch. 2K8 is just horrible and next year I am going to wait until I read some reviews before I buy.PSN: ckarlic

Just to many things still wrong. I just cant get into it. I played "the show" demo at Walmart last weekend and had more fun in the 3 minutes I played than I have in the month 2k8 has been out. What is sony doing that 2k isn't? I mean that demo was just plain smooth. Nothing looked robotic like 2k8. Frustrating to say the least.Comment

Kush is using the same game engine that was used for 2K3. Pop 2K3 into your Xbox and take a look. Same robotic movements (albeit much more robotic). That's the issue with 2K8 - the game engine is several years old. They need to start from scratch with a new game engine.Comment

Re: 2K8 Patch Available: Official Post Patch Impressions
Earlier this year, Kush said he worked mostly on the game's hitting engine. He said the code was a mess, and there were few notes about what did what. I'm not surprised, as this is actually the same base engine as World Series Baseball 2K2 on the Dreamcast. It's old.
But, he did say the hitting engine was re-written from scratch. So has the pitching. So two of the huge pieces are done. There have also been rumors of 2K using a 3rd party to supply the sim/front office engine.
I know some people don't like hearing it, but this franchise is very clearly a work in progress. I've played about a dozen exhibition games so far, two with the patch, and I think it plays a very fun game of baseball despite its shortcomings.
So yeah, it's rough. And it has problems. But I don't really care, because I do think the franchise is heading in the right direction.Comment

I think the patch looks real nice. The only lag I ever see is the around the horn throw from 1st to 2nd. I played one game, and thought it looked great.
Thing is, I FINALLY was pretty much set with sliders...but now the game is playing differently and I think it's back to the drawing board for sliders.PSN: JISTIC_OS

They did a lousy play-testing job on this title, it has its moments, but I'm glad I didn't buy it, because when I return it I will not miss this buggy game.
For what it's worth I'm not an mvp fan either...I didn't think that game was very special.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment
