    Re: Player Models

the players models look fine...why is it that everywhere I go online, people are going over the top dissecting this game like this?

truth be told, if you want to look at any game ever made and dissect it down to a tee, you will find inaccuracies. these are video games, that's how it is.

but let's take it there shall we? here is a screencap of MLB 09 the show...can we look at this batters gargantuan head? is this true-to-life? this is 100% realistic? this will take away from the gameplay experience? let's grow up people.

That is Pedroia, and yes he has a big head.

As far as the clothes in 2K9, I think they look like they are wearing cardboard or super scotch guard from hell. To each is own.

And I also think the jersey fitting in The Show is phenomenal, and best yet in a baseball game. From the textures, down to the wrings where it looks like they are actually wearing something, rather than "a part of" something.

        Re: Player Models

        ^^^missed my point completely.

again, you can find problems with player models in every sports game - jerseys, arms, legs, feet sizes, X player doesn't really wear wristbands here/there, batting gloves - we could be here all day listing things off like this...

do these things take away from the gameplay experience? do you think MLB THE SHOW will be reviewed poorly because their players look dwarfish? I don't. the game is going to be great either way - take it or leave it.

as baseball game fans we should feel lucky that we actually have 2 decent options for games, unlike basketball and football...

Basketball has made strides, Live has come around big time, and is almost there.

          Football, that is another story.

I was also commenting in general about the clothing, not relating to your post. The only thing I was relating was that Pedroia, yes, has a monster head for his body.

Amen, things like clothing, gloves, big heads, little heads, never ever bother me. Some people like everything to be detailed so that's cool. I noticed the dwarf thing too in a show video, but game play and presentation are all I need and 2k9 looks to have that and more IMO.

I brought up this page and in the flash of a second and the corner of my eye, I was [progressively] like, "Hey, a screen I haven't seen before, aweso... wait a minute, what's up with those bodi... ooooh, it's The Show."

No joke. I'm just surprised that people see these as permissible to an actual human body. I can't wait until next year's game for people to really see the difference.

Like I said in my earlier post, players like CC Sabathia that wear their jerseys and pants baggy, I think the "Super Baggy" option is important cuz of the size of his lower half. Because his lower half is so big the "baggy" version might not look right, but the "super baggy" version might look more proper. Prince Fielder as well, I put in "super baggy" as well as Manny. If u notice Manny's pants aren't just baggy their super baggy. Oh well, that's it. Later

Graphics are not important. MVP 2005 had those cartoony graphics and that is considered the best baseball game ever made.

Depends on who you talk to. I tend to make a big deal about both MVP's player models and their hitting system. I didn't even think it was the best baseball game of that year.

Those cartoony graphics were pretty good 4-5 years ago though. Eventually, you have to upgrade visually. Plus, 2K hasn't exactly had the gameplay to justify graphical dropoffs...lol.

Still though, on premise you're right. Graphics don't matter so much if the gameplay and experience is on point. It doesn't hurt though...lol.
