Thanks.
As an aside, can you imagine being the GM who is forced to RELEASE Tim Lincecum as a cap casualty?!Comment

Just to be clear, this means Manny simply isn't playing for those seasons, yes? Not that he's signed and then taken off?
EDIT: Nevermind, just read that and that's how it sounds.

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
You might be correct, but I'll have to pop in NHL 2K in a bit to confirm first-hand.
I'll do that in a bit. I'm going to play a regular game because another hot topic is the CPU swinging at everything. So I want to get some more innings under my belt so I can start to say whether this is an issue out of the box or not.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Haha, no I can't imagine that. You'd be burned at the stake before you could escape your office.
PS -- I'll probably just play a few innings before getting back to FMode just because it's the hot topic at this moment.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Some good points, that would be a lot of work...but it may be the only way to avoid roster control being used.Well, I have an idea if my question gets answered. It would take MAJOR work though, edit a lot of players contracts to be huge, then return them to normal after we get into franchise mode. This might make the cap room for each team higher. I really don't know if anyone would want to do this though, I may if I am really loving the game but won't if I don't plan on playing very often. Crazy idea, but it may work if cap room is based off the contracts of the team and not a fixed number...
Man...this news about the franchise has me kinda bummed about this. Maybe by the time I decide to by it (wasn't planning on buying it right away, if at all) there will be either a patch or PC edit for the game in this regard (I know that last bit may be just wishful thinking...lol).
This is a big disappointment for me and could essentially ruin the PC version for some if it's not resolved (since no online).
I remember 2K7 had an issue on release where the budgets were too low in GM Mode and after the first year, you couldn't resign anyone because while the budget was low, the contracts were high. It was fixed relatively quickly. Let's hope for the same with this, if it's a similar issue.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Most of these games have a "budget cap" based on each team (usually determined by your team's roster and respective contracts.). That's the cap he would likely be alluding to.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
There is no league-mandated cap, but each team in the game has a "salary cap" number and an available funds number. That's what I'm referring too.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Is there an option to turn off the budget cap by any slim chance? That might alleviate the issue (or at least rule out something as the trouble spot. Just a shot in the dark.Comment
