What you should do is look through the contracts of the players on a team and see if they are too high. If they are, then maybe the new player morale feature is resulting in the players asking for too much money. If that is the case, then maybe that feature can be turned off. You say every teams payroll is negative, or really low, which means they must be spending all their money on something. The question is what are they spending it on.

The pertinent options when starting a franchise:
Roster Type: Current or Default
Edit CPU Rosters: On or Off
CPU Trading: On or Off
Force Trades: On or OffI won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

I thought I remembered a setting in 2k7 or 2k8 that allowed you to set the budgets small medium large etc. Can you see if there's an option that may be turned on by default? It would be where you start the franchise.Comment

You can edit contracts outside of Franchise Mode, and it looks like you can do it within Franchise Mode as well.Edit: Are we able to edit the contracts of MLB players that are already in the game? or just created players?
Great question--This is important, if you are able to change contracts and edit them--- in NBA 2K9 YOU COULD!!! So you would assume it would be in this game as well, but clarification on editing contracts in franchise would be helpful if you can answer that Chase.
I wonder if you use 2K Share, you can upload a roster with modified salaries?
Did anyone in NBA 2K9 do that?I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
That sounds a lot like NBA 2K9, but the real question is when you do go to edit a player, are their options to lower their salary and increase the years of the contract? With NBA 2K9 you could do all of that, and might be the only way you can stop MLB 2K9 from having so many star free agents year after year.Games I'm playing FOREVER: NFL2K5, That is all.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
OK great, that's good news somewhat, because you can increase the years of the contract, to avoid that huge problem of star free agents every off season--- and I never used the 2k share while playing NBA2K9 but I heard you couldGames I'm playing FOREVER: NFL2K5, That is all.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Chase did you happen to see the draft at all?
Last year all players had weird jersey numbers assigned to them (i.e. 100 & 99)
Also if I remember correctly majority of players were under 6 foot.Comment

If it's there, I don't see it.

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
But how does that solve the problem without creating a new one? If you change every player in the game to a 20 year contract, then the rosters are the same every year except for the rookies which will just become free agents anyway after they progress and become good. We have to look at the big picture here. The contracts may not even be the root of the problem.Comment

Re: Why Do I Do This To Myself: I Have a Copy of MLB 2K9 (Q&A)
Yea it could be. Looking att Lincecum's contract it's 2 years 317k -- which I'm assuming is wrong when compared to his real-life contract correct? Did he get a pro contract right out of college?
But, the years would line up with the reason why he's a FA during the 2nd off-season.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update).
