Especially on the heels of making such a fundamentally flawed game in MLB FOM
Back in the day before companies relyed on patches to fix everything, the game either would have released with this crippling bug or the ship date would have been adjusted to correct it. Now they just release the game regardless and have a patch ready for day one.

Should move the release date back and ensure your product works correctly first.

Thanks Simballer. Glad to know the problem is being addressed.

I hope the game runs smoothly from the disc since I don't have the GB's available to install on my hard drive.

No one else has seen this? It seems to happen to me at least once a game in the demo.

I'm really not a big fan of "fixed!" from developers when creating patches. While I'm sure he'd probably not get into it, I'd like to know exactly what issues they are addressing in the patch. As I see it, there are multiple issues going on (lack of $$$ to use on contracts, players with less than 6 yrs exp becoming FAs, etc.) and I'd prefer to hear the developer say not only "fixed", but what exactly was fixed.

            Agreed.

Was it not handling when people should be FAs properly in the first place? Was it just a budget issue? Did they just eliminate the budgets?

Many options.....was it a hack or a proper fix?

You when you you getto find out about what the WS celebration looks like? When you win one!

I can't believe that you can spend this much time worrying about something that you will only see after you put in the hours to win the the thing. If the celebration has any impact on whether you like the game, then the game sucks. If the time spent winning the WS was not enough, then what is the point in worrying about this little piece of canned cutscenes.

Then again, maybe it is so cool and utterly jaw-dropping that we don't want the end of the game spoiled. Maybe we need a spoilers thread!

But this was also before exclusive contracts and their requirements for yearly games and meeting deadlines.

Development has taken a turn for the worse since the introduction of the Internet and the ease of software updates/patches. Unfortunately, this is the way it will be for the conceivable future. I'm not saying it's right, but it is what it is.

You also have to consider the complexity of these current gen games. There are literally thousands more points of failure than the 8-bit & 16-bit eras, which has made the process of debugging longer and more prone to error. It's more cost effective to release a buggy game and fix it later than to address all possible bugs immediately.

Good development examples are games like MGS4, Halo 2/3, & Grand Theft Auto. They are on longer development cycles and developers have more time to debug and lock down code. Sports games have gone the way of yearly releases (and exclusive contracts) so getting it right plays second fiddle to releasing it year after year. For sports games, the development cycle is 3, 4, or 5 years, but the companies release whatever build version they have available come March for MLB, October for NBA, etc.

Look at what VC did with NFL 2k3-2k5, EA with MVP 2003-2005, SCEA with The Show 06 - 09. Hopefully VC stays on this MLB 2k series and we get a true gem in a few more years. It obviously doesn't guarantee a great game in 3-5 years (see Kush 2k7-2k8), but it's the way the sports game development cycle works.

To the posters who are still complaining about the franchise bug. ITS FIXED!! Who cares how, or when. Its done. Why would a company delay a release when they can just patch it on day 1. The game isn't even supposed to be out yet.

Everyone was ready to jump off a bridge last night. Simballer comes in and says the problems is fixed and we still can't let it go?? ALL GAMES HAVE BUGS. Can't we just be happy its fixed??

Delete something or clear your HDD cache (removes patches too) by doing xx lb rb xx at the HDD menu. You will lose all patches and will need to re-install the ones you want back.

Yes, it's nice to hear that it's "fixed".

But it's not for some people. For instance, I have a brother-in-law who wants to buy the game, but he doesn't have his 360 hooked up to the net, so no fix for him. And he's a big franchise guy.

I still feel it's terrible on the part of 2K to not catch a huge bug like this before the game is released.

If anybody with the game could answer this question I'd be extremely grateful.......

The demo had an issue while fielding that is extremely frustrating for me. While moving a player toward a batted ball's projected landing spot, the player being controlled would all of sudden slow down to an almost slo-motion pace allowing the ball to hit the ground or he'd start running away from the target zone with the same result, A HIT THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN!!! I noticed this problem moreso in the outfield but it was present on plays in the infield as well.

Is this any better in the final build??? NO, is this problem totally fixed?? I simply wont put up with any such problem when it comes to fielding!!! I want total control of the guys I'm supposed to be controlling and not have to sit back and watch them decide to do their own thing.

Ok I do understand what you are saying. But at least its fixable. Back in the day we would be screwed. There has to be a way for your brother-in-law to get the patch. A friends house maybe? I mean who doesn't have internet now days? Or who doesn't know someone who does?
