How come more of you don't use cursor hitting?

Personally I think it's the best representation of true hitting. It is a true hand-eye coordination tool and I think it yields the most realistic hitting experience. Plus, it's a lot more challenging than simple zone hitting. So how come many of you are not using cursor hitting? Please explain, I'm interested.

Ill be honest i started to only playing cursor hitting. but i chase EVERYTHING i mean everything. And when i did hit it i could not hit homeruns or anything deep it was beyond frustrating. maybe i need to change the contact more and slow the pitching down. I like the swingstick i know its not true but you do have some influence on were you can aim the hit. And i can focus more on were the ball is coming so i can take better pitches instead of focusing more on the cursor.

You can slow pitch speed down, I'm at 65 and it seems pretty good, not too slow like it's softball, but not too fast that I can't make contact most of the time . . . and it yields realistic K numbers.

I would be willing to try it. Is the cursor a different size for the different batters, and does it change when either ahead or behind in the count?

I know that lowly old World Series Baseball on the SEGA Genesis had the cursor style hitting, but Tony Pena's cursor would be HUGE when he was up 3-0 in the count. Made it very difficult to take pitches.

Also, I would like to hear some more input on the Pitch Speed with regards to making the hitting difficult, but also rewarding by recognizing pitches, and taking advantage of sitting on a fastball in the right spot, and getting it..

But because it IS a video game, and I do want to have fun. For me the cursor just isn't fun. As long as I can tweak sliders to lessen the annoyances of user hitting w/ the swing stick, I'm all about swing stick.

I've seen a great variance in hits/contact. I hit a 2B down the LF line w/ Werth, I've hit slow dribblers, shallow bloops, hard-hit gappers, opposite field HRs, upper deck reaching HRs, barely clearing the fence HRs,....I get a wide variety of hits/outs.

I miss the old ASB style where you could have a power circle and a contact box. Nice risk reward. I also liked how you could angle the contact box accordingly.

I;ll have to give this game's cursor system more of a try, but it doesn't seem to offer that same risk reward. For some reason, it feels gimmicky to me.

Much like the skill stick in NHL 09, I love the swing stick.

I love the hitting now as well, but I am certainly willing to try out something I haven't even looked at yet... What is your Power slider at for User? I am at 70 or 75 I think, and post-patch, I am not seeing ANY homeruns. Even in BP, Ortiz might get one into the bullpen, but it is 2-15 that get there. I do not want to use the Hitter's Eye, because I think it is broken, and I would love to see some homeruns, but it still may be that I am not getting all of the ball in the spot it needs to be in. And truth be told, I would deal with not enough Homeruns before I would accept too many. It seems that I can really rough up the 4th and 5th starters against the lesser teams, but my contact seems to really wane when I face the 1 and 2 starters... hey wait a minute.... never mind..

Hmmm...I guess I am in the minority. I am using cursor (zone) hitting as I find it much more rewarding than just timing my swing. I am having trouble getting my sliders just right with the cursor though. If I could actually check my swing with the swing stick I might be more interested in it. (I know there is a way to do it, but the motion is just not natural if it is like it was in 2K8)

i LOVE zone hitting. I agree that once you get the hang of it is way more "realistic" and challenging. Sometimes I use zone hitting with the swing stick for an extreme challenge. My pitch speed is really slow tho

Been using it. My only wish is for the cursor to be modded (PC). I can't stand it...way too bright and arcadish. The results, however (which are obviously more important) are better with cursor htting than without.

Agreed.. For all this games problems hit variety is certainly not one of them. I am getting great hit variety, (and the results actually make sense due to timing, pitch location and other factors) using the swing stick.

you can mod the icon on PC. I messed around with it, but i didnt have any better ideas for it. What would you like it to look like?

Alright, i actually tried it properly and enjoyed it. I might switch over, maybe not.

I played pirates vs. sox, with me as the sox. I got a decent amount of hits, even a homer. Didn't hurt that the game was awesome, came from behind to tie it in the 8th on a 2 run shot by Pedroia, then won it in the 12th.
