I like the game a lot, post patch..so i feel like the tools are there.

I'm not ging to buy a ps3 just for 1 game, so unless my 360 red rings for the 3rd time(3 strikes and your out)..mlb 2k is my only baseball option and it really isnt all that bad of one

Do you have a Playstation 2? Nobody needs to plop down around $500 to buy a PS3 to enjoy The Show. It's $30 on PS2 and PS2s are pretty cheap anyway. Outside of a few things (notably graphics), the PS2 version is pretty much the same as the PS3 one.

It's the future of 2K Sports in general we should be concerned with. They are currently average at best. When you look at the complete package, the quality of the title, it's online functionality and its overall playability, their games are barely average at best. The reality of it all is the 2K Sports brand never recovered from the NFL exclusivity and Take Two did an awful job of putting the 2K Sports branch of development in a competitive atmosphere.

I keep saying this, but we are paying more money in this "next-generation" and the games are worse off. It's on both sides too. Consider 2K's online functionality. At the peak of the game's release, they are having server issues for MLB 2K9. According to their forums, they are in the process of switching server locations. Why on earth would you do that now? Now, consider the other game (MLB The Show). It's still a choppy mess online and the game itself was plagued with a messy patch that threatens the games integrity.

In light of all of this, we are paying $10 extra for these titles.

Great post, and you identified the core issues. This isn't about 2K10 -- it's about whether 2K will ever be given the resources to develop a competent, competitive product. The problem it seems is they're in a downward spiral: their games are plagued with issues year after year, meaning they lose more and more consumers. And we've seen with APF 2K8 and College Hoops that once people stop purchasing their games, the game simply gets yanked from the 2K lineup.

They're not going to cancel MLB 2K10 obviously, but there doesn't appear to be any commitment to marketing, quality assurance and programming talent. In the meantime, this game and their hockey series are perpetually stuck in mediocrity, and consumers are fed up and no longer buying them. Unless something changes, the demise of 2K at some point in the near future is inevitable.

Possibly to avoid these issues in the future and so you could get a solid experience out of your games THIS YEAR as opposed to next?

Either way, the consumer shouldn't have to deal with it. Bar none.
