yeah, like you i'm hopeful. i'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice if the development team listened to our concerns. i guess the only thing that gives me pause is that they could have patched some of those issues with at least one more and they failed to do so right in the middle of baseball season. i find that deplorable and cannot giving up on a game at the all-star break. but i guess we'll just have to wait and see...

appreciate the kind words about the rosters. i did have fun doing those and i'm glad that so many people were able to use them. they weren't perfect, and i'm not even close to an expert, but even i was amazed at the traction they got and the amount of downloads that took place with them.

Which shows how poor the official roster support from 2K was.

Well, yeah, because how else are you going to play? If all you use is Swing Stick, you're only controlling half the game. It's like playing Hardball 5 from 20 years ago and turning everything on "Easy". I should have to account for WHERE the ball is when I'm swinging, not just WHEN I swing the bat, and cursor batting (with the button press) is the only way to simulate that.

Only IT DOESN'T WORK! I'm actually stunned I was able to make contact as often as I did, but it didn't matter because the ball won't leave the infield if it's not dead on the sweet spot. And even if I managed a few runs, I would always lose the game on some broken play where a flyball unexpectedly drops behind my fielder, or some infielder doesn't tag a base he's standing right on top of.

It's too bad b/c the "bones" of the game actually were decent. Moreover, 2k9 had two features that every sports game should have, but few do, which is in-game saves, and the option to play (and simulate) games of shorter lengths, even in a franchise mode. I wanted to like it so bad, but after about 15 days, I dropped it like a hot potato.

This post sums up exactly what I was complaining about.
On cursor hitting, it's next to impossible to consistently score a realistic number of runs, K's are unrealistically high (due to the fact that contact is only made when you are RIGHT on the ball), solid contact is ONLY made when you are RIGHT on the sweet spot, and even if you do manage a few runs, the CPU always manages to come back on ridiculous plays like fly balls being dropped or completely misplayed (not by the user, by the CPU running around in all sorts of directions or throwing to a base when you CLEARLY gestured to throw to a particular base), etc.

I've started playing again though, I guess because I'm waiting for NBA 2K10 to release and because I love baseball. We'll see how it works out.

The GLARING issues this game has simply cannot be fixed with any slider adjustments and it's completely ruined my enjoyment of the game.

Some of the major issues I simply cannot fix:

              - On directional hitting, the user almost never strikes out. It's too easy to make contact, even if it's not solid contact, there's always some type of contact.

              On cursor hitting:
              - Power is non-existent. I'm playing with the Yankees. I have the power and contact jacked up to 100. I'm leading the league in strikeouts and I've hit about 15 homeruns in 30 games. Completly unrealistic. And it's not like I can make user batting success higher or cpu pitching easier because my batting averages are spot on. If I make hitting easier or cpu pitching easier, the averages will sky-rocket.
              - CPU fielding - hey, there's nothing unrealistic about 2 amazing diving catches . . . per inning, right?
              - How many fly balls can we completely misplay in the outfield because the cpu decided to go into an animation and not finish the animation quick enough to actually get the glove up and catch the ball?
              - Stealing - what's stealing? Yeah, exactly, also non-existent because it's next to impossible . . . even against someone like Tim Wakefield!!!
              - CPU aggressiveness - LOL! I remember when I first saw the trailers for this game, I was the first person to say, "does it seem like the CPU is swinging at everything in the strike zone" and everything told me to wait for the game to come out and that it would be tweaked and that EA was just showing us action shots in the trailers. And now, when all is said and done, who was right? 60 pitch complete games . . . NO!
              - Relievers being crappy - I don't care what anyone says, Mariano Rivera should not have an ERA of 6.00 with 6 blown saves in 8 opportunities, especially considering my starting pitchers have a combined ERA of about 4.00 (a realistic number).

Honestly, I can go on and on and I would under most circumstances as I feel like I've wasted the last 6 months of my free time on this game when I could've been playing NBA 2K9 or something. I'm just very disappointed and hope they can fix these glaring issues in next year's iteration.
I remember 6 months ago, you called me every name in the book because I said the same thing. I'm glad I didn't waste 6 months figuring out this game sucked, only a week or two. This was the biggest ripoff game I've ever spent money on. I won't buy next year no matter what dog and pony show they march out. I'm done! I do admire your persistance and willingness to help others though.

Re: Well, after 6 months, I finally quit. . .

Plain and simple...this game is garbage. Actually that may be a bit too harsh. It's got some redeeming things about but by and large, I just cant see how 2K9 sold one single copy for the PS3 when you have the Show as an option.

2K Sports has just been falling apart at the seems and its probablly only a matter of time when their franchise game, NBA 2K, thats holding this company afloat, gets caught from behind by NBA Live and completely buries this company across the board in all sports games.

Its really sad because these developers at 2K have a good understanding for realistic sports games and making videos with more of an emphasis on simulation its just that their programmers, motion capture, and production teams are either underfunded or underskilled...and it really shines thru in all their games except for NBA 2K

This game is absolute trash for sure. It's not even debateable anymore. I predict they'll do next years game and after that they'll go belly up as a company. Next years game will be the same issues they won't fix them, just updated rosters.

Honestly, I'm still seeing the exact same issues with the game as I did before, i.e. too many diving catches, not nearly enough home runs, fielding glitches, etc, but seeing as this is my only baseball option on the 360, I'm gonna continue playing (at least until NBA 2K10 is released next week).

in CPU's half of the inning of the inning they hit every thing i was throwin
they manage to score once and got the bases loaded with one out
i threw a curveball dat was hit to short LF but my LF was movin so slow but he reached just in time to make the catch only for the ball to go higher when try to grab it and it drop for a 2run double and the game was tied

I just haven't been able to go back to the game. I am still 5-5 w/ the Mets and will most likely never finish that season.
