    Re: MLB 2K10 Questions

If they have the PS3 version available, check it out and see if its on par with the 360 version. I highly doubt it will be but I can dream.

      Re: MLB 2K10 Questions

      1. I thought 2k9 was one of the worst looking sports games on the cur gen consoles. How does 2k10 look?

      2. How's the frame rate? Has that been fixed?

      3. Bright spot of 2k9 was commentary & presentation, how's 2k10?

      4. Does the cpu swing at everything? Or will they make you throw strikes?

I hope it goes well down there. Thanks for taking time to answer some questions. Looking forward to the feedback. Good luck to you!

I second that. I do have a ps3 and will be buying the show, but I have a blockbuster pass and may rent 2k10 occasionally if it's good. It pissed me off last year how we couldn't change a players batting stance/ pitching motion. Heck, we couldn't even give our created players one.

Oh I know man that is the only reason i didn't purchase this game last year. I am basing my purchase this year on this. Also they need to get rid of the edit player limit that is a total joke. If we get to edit stances and windups without the limitations then I trhis will be a buy for me on the PS3. If not then I'll stick to the Show.

What kind of support is 2K10 going to get post release? Will it be abandoned similarly to 2K9?

              Chase,
              Thanks for the opportunity.

              1) Editing:
Please let us know if any love was given to 2K10's Face Tool?

              2) Available Players to Edit:
Will we have a higher number of players available that we can edit?

              3) Sim Game:
Please check to see if we can turn off any of the visual aids that show up during game play.

              4) Legends:
Huge Legend list in 09' but we couldn't add them to our teams in Season or Franchise, Will 2K let us play with them in Season or Franchise in 2K10?

              thats all for me.
I do believe VC will bring it home this year!

              Thank You'''

                Re: MLB 2K10 Questions

Can you please find out about weather effects? Are there rain delays, rain-outs, doubleheaders, etc. Do the retractable roofs close or can you at least choose open/closed?

Is it easy to look at stats of batters/pitchers during gameplay? Like pitchcounts/avg/era displayed anywhere during at-bats?

Is there a franchise score ticker/or alerts when a pitcher is warming up etc.

Can you also check to see if stadium animations are back in ...train at minute maid, bernie brewer, apple in citi field, etc.

                Thanks!

                  Re: MLB 2K10 Questions

                  mostly gameplay and presentation related

                  1. Did they smooth out the fielding? (ie fielders slowing down then speeding up)

                  2. How improved are the pitching and batting duels and do they give a legiment feel of an actual duel going on. How well are tendencies incorporated etc..

                  3. Are the batting animations improved? there was like a delay last year when you hit the ball and heard the crack of the bat sometimes and it was just off. The swing particulary the half swing just looked ridiculous. Batting stances were also goofy. Have they done anything with batter walkups? Pitching warmups were pretty good last year but the batters were another story.

                  4. Framerates, player models. How do stadiums look and lighting.

                  5. How is the sound? Bat sounds. Crowd Reaction and ambience. Is the organ still there?

                  6. ARe there still weird issues with the realtime atmosphere as far as players sinking into the ground, and just doing weird morphing things. How much did they improve upon it?

7.2ND TO LAST BUT NOT LEAST and a big one for me. Is online play going to achieve a smooth framerate this year?

                  8. Does it play like baseball?????

Thing is for me. MLB 2k9 had some good ideas and a solid foundation(the pitching animations and camera and realtime atmosphere and control was pretty nice) but it was just broken and terrible and awful in every facet. I'd like to know if they really improved on a lot of things that were clearly rushed last year.

Are the uniforms accurate? Also confirm the helmets don't look inflatable (donut earflap)

                        Re: MLB 2K10 Questions

                        Some are repeats but...

Graphics: Nothing big here, but I wonder what's been done, if anything, to improve the textures of things like, gloves, helmets, etc?

Animations: I know the blog mentioned new fielding animations, but I want to know about the basic animations and what has been done to improve them (hopefully overhauled).

Sliders: Have they been addressed at all for 2K10? Can they be described not only in function, but in terms of range and effectiveness?

Editing: Is there an edit limit yet again? Can we edit stances/windups? What, if any, are the new options added for equipment, faces, etc.

Pitching: If I consistently master my gestures, etc will I always hit my spot dead-on, or will it be more approximate based on ratings, situation, etc? Will penalties for bad pitching be more realistic such as missed spots, more balls, etc...rather than floaters or "meatballs." Can they describe what impact, if any, the new pitch selection system with the gestures will have on this.

Hitting: Have they finally redone the bat sounds? The zone hitting showed promise last year, but what have they done to refine it and make the feel of hitting smoother?

Physics: I liked what I saw from the zone hitting in this department. Hit variety was solid, and the ball mostly went where it should off the bat. However, throws, certain pitches, collision, etc all suffered from some fairly odd moments. Aside from some of the situational collision scenarios mentioned in the blog, what's been done to ensure better ball physics in general?

Also, with RTP added last year, and the apparent improvement in ballpark builds, what's been done to enhance how the ball and players react to their surrounding. Will a game in Fenway feel vastly different than a game in Petco or Comerica, for example. This not only effects gameplay, but overall franchise/team building strategy as well.

AI: Aside from game management/situational performance, just basic AI behavior has been sketchy...when to run, how often to swing, individual approaches, etc. These are necessary to make the game more fluid and flow as though it's simulating the real thing.

The most obvious area, was the AI's plate agressiveness and tendency to throw in the zone (sliders did little to help either in 2K9). You could tone down the AI's aggressiveness some (but still not enough overall) by massively overhauling ratings on the PC, but console players were mostly screwed here. What's been done to ensure appropriate AI behavior?

Ratings are a big deal across the board as well. Fielding's been better than the pitcher/batter matchup, but still needs work differentiating certain skills (particularly getting to the ball and being able to make the play...basically how reaction and fielding ability play off eachother).

Also as someone said, for all the talk of IE, it's done very little to enhance the pitcher/batter matchup because they've made ratings play such a small factor in the game. All theses situational stats sound fine in theory, but ratings/skill should be the primary determinant to pair with user input. How have they balanced these new situational calculations with ratings considerations. What's been done to balance the matchup overall? Do ratings stand out more between players (particularly in terms of non-physical ratings like walks, strikeouts, reaction, etc)?

I could probably write a book (instead of this mini-essay...lol), but those are my big questions!

EDIT: I forgot, but thank you for fielding all these for us Chase!

If you have a ps3 and the show with it don't be 2k10. It may be a good game, but if you go over to the mlb 10 the show forum, you can see that the devs are one every day giving us new details, a group of 5 key members of the community over there were invited to go to the SCEA studios for a couple of days to check out the game {the build with the new stances and stuff}. They are arriving tonight and previewing Wednesday and Thursday. Mlb 10 The Show is just so far ahead of 2k right now. 2k could have a good career mode, but the show's will be better. They have had years to refine it {from the days they had just normal career mode with mlb 2005, mlb 2006. Then they had it where you just played your played in Mlb 06 The Show {actually for the 2006 season, the previous ones had titles like madden does]. They've had the actual RTTS mode for 4 years now on the ps3. If you're an xbox gamer, and 2k ends up good, atleast a 8.0 on ign and other game preview sites, buy it for xbox and don't buy a ps3 for the show unless you can afford it without selling your xbox.

That's not what I'm doing. Hence the "If you have an xbox, buy 2k." I only said that if they do have a ps3, get the better baseball game, which most people {critic's included}, would say is the Show. I am actually pretty eager to see what VC puts out with their second year under the helm of this game and implementing some of their other games technology.
