I throw sliders w/ other pitchers and have no issue, but his I just can't get down. I hit too many batters with it.

I haven't even pitched w/ Contreras or Baez yet. Although I used Baez for the O's last year and didn't really like him. I do know how dominating a forkball can be as I was doing awesome last year w/ Koji Uehara's forker.
Lidge's slider doesn't have the break like it has in real life. I tweaked it some in editing, hoping to get a better representation of his real-life slider, but it's still not that great. It's awfully hittable in this game.

      Quick update on my Franchise

      Phillies (19-17)
      4th place, 4.5 games behind Florida (24-13)

*Jimmy Rollins, Placido Polanco and Raul Ibanez have struggled mightily. Rollins and Polanco spent all of April batting under .200. Only recently has Rollins started to pick things up (12-for-31).

*I'm hitting homers with Ryan Howard at an alarming rate. For example, I murdered a Gallardo offering to left-center field, the deepest part of Miller Park, and all I did was put a half-hearted contact swing on the ball. I'm thinking about lowering Howard's power rating against right-handed pitchers (it's a 99, I think). He has 14 homers and 35 RBIs.

*Roy Halladay is a beast. I give him very little support, but he hardly gets into trouble. Braun hit a two-run shot off of him in a no-decision, the game he pitched. He's 3-3 with a 1.90 ERA and a ridiculous 1.09 WHIP. Of the three games he lost, he allowed only five runs.

          I will update though, however.

I left you off with me losing 2 of 3 to the Mets - well I traveled to Atlanta to redeem myself and I ended up sweeping them. Best game was definitely the final game, where De La Rosa went up against Hanson. I gave up 3 quick runs in the first and thought I was in for a loonggg game, but I was dominant after that - De La Rosa ended up pitching 7 innings and striking out 10.

Anyway, I slowly crawled back into the game, pushing a run across in the 3rd with a Helton 1B. Hanson was killed by the walk - he walked me 4 times in critical situations. Eventually this led to my huge 5th inning where I scored 5 runs to take a 6-3 lead, including a big 3-run homerun from Miguel Olivo.

          I start a 4 game series @ Washington next.

So far, Hawpe is actually leading the league with a .440 average, while Ian Stewart has the most homeruns (7!) and RBIS (18)

            Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I had my second consecutive game of atrocious cpu bullpen management last night. First Wainwright gets pulled after 3 innings and 2 runs, the next game Carpenter gets pulled after 5 innings and 2 runs and about 75 pitches. Then in the 8th inning with a 3-2 lead they had in a righty who got Angel Pagan out, then they bring in a lefty to face David Wright, who wears out lefties, followed by Bay and Francouer. I get a little rally going and when Daniel Murphy, who struggles vs lefties comes up, they bring in a righty and he gets a hit and ties the game. With the game tied in the top of the 9th I warm up k-rod and Bobby Parnell, Parnell to pitch if it's tied and k-rod in case I get the lead. I end up not scoring and since I pinch hit for the pitcher, I get the pop up that asks if I want to bring in a new pitcher and I hit "A" to select yes. I made the mistake of thinking I could sit k-rod from that menu before selecting Parnell to pitch but it automaticcally subbed in k-rod when I clicked on his name. He comes in, throws one pitch and Matt Holliday hits a walk off HR.

              Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

              Son of a B...

I decided to play as the Giants for a game. Tim Lincecum was struggling in his 1st 2 starts so I wanted to pitch w/ him and get him on track. This game was the last of 3 I played tonight; having played 2 Pitt games - winning both.

Anyways...it was Lincecum vs Kershaw. Giants at Dodgers. Both pitchers pitched through the lineup w/o giving up a hit. Then in the T4th I cranked a solo-HR w/ Kung Fu Panda to get out to a 1-0 lead; w/ the way I was pitching w/ Lincecum I thought that might be all I need.

Well...in the B4th I give up a single, so the no-no was broken, and I had walked the first batter of the game I faced (Furcal) so the perfect game was over then.

Moving to the 5th I got Martin and Loney to ground out. Then I got behind Casey Blake, and came a little inside on a FB, but he turned on it and jacked it to left-center. Game tied 1-1. It would stay that way until the 7th.

With two outs and Kershaw around 90 pitches I finally got to him. Bengie Molina singled, Schierholtz singled, and there I was w/ 2 outs and fat boy Molina at 2nd. I made a tough call in the T7th to bring in Fred Lewis to pinch-run and it paid dividends. Aaron Rowand doubled down the 3B line and Lewis scored from 2nd. Renteria would strike out to end the inning, but the damage was done. SF up 2-1.

I trotted Lincecum out for the B7th. He gets through Manny, Ethier, allows Martin and Loney to reach, but strikes out Blake looking. Top 8th I'm sat down 1, 2, 3 w/ Lincecum leading off the inning. B8th Lincecum finally implodes to a degree. Belliard leads off w/ a single. Then Jamey Carroll is brought in and proceeds to fight off about 8 or 9 pitches on a full count, eventually reaching on a BB. Then Furcal singles and the bases are loaded w/ no outs.

I pull Lincecum, bring in Santiago Casilla, get Kemp to ground out but I effed up and threw to first instead of home for the force (Renteria you suck). I get a big out w/ Manny striking out looking, and then bring in Affeldt to face Ethier. Andre gave it a ride to deep center, but Rowand got on his horse and snagged in what you could imagine would've been similar to that catch in Philly where he broke his nose. He had a head of steam and ran into the wall, but did that stupid roll-off animation. Anyways inning over, game still in hand w/ it tied and not having given up a HUGE inning to LAD.

Top of the 9th, and again w/ 2 outs I rally. Buster Posey, at catcher since I pinch ran for Molina, doubles. Then Schierholtz gets a hitters count and knocks a single scoring Posey. Aaron Rowand singled, but I could only advance Nate to 3rd. Renteria ends another inning striking out (bum).

So I'm facing the 6, 7, 8 hitters w/ my closer Brian Wilson. Easy save right? Wrong. He gets Martin to ground out, but then Loney singles, Blake is hit by a pitch, Chin-Lung PHs and singles, and Loney scores from 2nd. Game tied 3-3. I get out the inning w/ it tied, do nothing in the 10th, and Mota gives up the game winning run on a Furcal single and Matt Kemp double.

              Final:

              SF 3 8 0
              LA 4 10 0
              WP: Belisario
              LP: Mota

              Kershaw 8.0 5H 2ER 0BB 4K (100 Pitches)

              Rowand 2-4 rbi 2B
              Sandoval 1-4 solo-HR

              Kemp 2-5 2 rbi
              Blake 1-3 solo-HR
              Manny 0-4 2Ks

I've gone into a major slump since switching from classic hitting to total control or swingstick or whatever it is called this year. I've lost 5 out of 6 after getting out to a 7-1 start and I'm averaging about 2 runs per game. Every time I get a batters eye that tells me I'm getting a fastball I jump out of my shoes with a power swing and am way early, I'm constantly getting ridiculed by Kruk for needing to stay back on a fastball

I think they went a little overboard with the player fatigue. After 7 games in a row, Jose Reyes was at 66 fatigue, so I rested him for a day and he only went back up to 81. David Wright and Jason Bay have played in all 14 of my games and they are only down to 77 energy, so I figured Reyes must have a lower stamina rating, but I couldn't even find a stamina rating

I went through and re-did the contracts for some of the teams, very time consuming. I am the Phillies, and I am currently 5-3 on the season, and I play every game. I have been using the Pro Sliders, I believe the are Big Joe's or something like that, and getting amazing games. After I adjusted the salary, I was over my budget, so I traded Moyer(in bullpen) and a top OF prospect to the Mariners for Rowland-Smith and some chump RF. It put me around 3M profit for the season. I am loving the games, and can't get enough of it.

                      Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I've dropped the first two games against the brewers

Game 1, I lost 9-2. Ted Lilly pitched decent, 6 IP, 3 ER. But my bullpen sucked as usual.

Game 2, lost 6-1. My lone run came off of a solo homerun from Marlon Byrd. Ryan Dempster got shelled, giving up 5 runs in 5 innings. Braun, Fielder, and Hart all went deep on me. Doug Davis pitched 5 innings allowing just one run.

Now I'm 5-3, hope to win the last game of the series. I have Randy Wells on the mound, who threw a complete game shutout in his first start against the reds.

The cardinals are on a roll right now, they're 8-1. I'm glad I don't have to play them this month.

Edit: Well, things didn't go so well. Randy Wells got knocked around for 7 runs in I think 4 and 1/3 innings.

But, in the bottom of the 6th, I was able to mount a rally. Scored 5 runs to pull withing 2. Bottom of the 7th I tacked on another run, and things were looking up. Going into the 9th, it was still 7-6. I brought in Carlos Marmol to try and keep the score where it was. But the Brewers had other plans. Prince Fielder hits a double with one out. I'm able to get the next batter out, then some BS occurs. The hitter hits a hard ground ball up the middle to the center fielder, instead of charging at the ball Marlon Byrd goes into this dumb casual animation and Prince Fielder easily scores when I would've had a shot at throwing him out. Greg Zaun goes deep the next pitch, and it's 10-6. Bottom 9th, Derek Lee hits a solo homerun but that's all.

I also intentionally hit Dave Bush in this game after getting thrown out at 2nd trying to steal on a 70 mph curve and a catcher who has a 66 arm strength with a player who has 82 speed.

Also, this was the first time I saw a pitcher win player of the game, although not suprisingly he didn't deserve it.

5-4 with the Astros coming to town, have to face Oswalt, Rodriguez, and their third starter. Gonna be tough, especially with everyone on my team playing terribly now after a hot start.

How about this though: Cruising along facing the Nationals with a 6-2 lead in the 9th - I bring in Street. He promptly gives up 2 homeruns, one to Adam Dunn and one to Josh Willingham, and then gives up another 2 so the game is now tied at 6.

I stopped playing there because I couldnt believe it. I cant use Street at all, hes given up like 12 hits in only 5 innings or something.

Yeah, if it was late in the season and I was in the race I probably would've just restarted the game since it's only fair(IMO). Now if I lose the divison or wild card to the Brewers by 1 game I'll have a bone to pick with this game(I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry), but right now I can just shrugg it off.

Sounds just like me against the Brewers, everytime I look at the score there's more runs for them. Really hate those games.

I guess you're going to look for a new closer?

Finished up Spring Training, and 1st game of the season was VS the Yanks. I scored 2 runs in 8th to end up winning 2-1.

Next game they scored 2 runs early, I battled back to take the lead 3-2, the 8th came and went I found my self down 4-3 and I lost.

So far in about 10 games I haven't scored more than 4 runs in a game. I can hit fine I get about 10 hits a game, it just seems when I have runners on base I can NEVER do anything. It's getting really frustrating.

Started opening day with the cardinals and Waino was on the mound against Arroyo.

Waino had a little trouble having let 2 runs in each of the first 2 innings but after that he settled down and got 4 scoreless innings. Though he did give up 10 hits. It was 2-0 Reds with Phillips getting the first run and Votto getting the other.

Pujols had a excellent opening day, going deep twice and tieing the score 2-2. Pujols went 3-4 with 1 Hit, 2 HR and 1 k.

Tie score going into the 7th inning, I think I left Waino in to long as he had a little trouble getting out of the 7th giving up a RBI single making it 3-2. Boggs came in to relieve him and kept the score 3-2 into the bottom of the 9th where the Redbirds struck out in order 1, 2, 3 and Francisco Cordero got the 1st save of the year. Lose 3-2.

Like others, I can get hits but can't seem to get them around to score. Numerous times I have had lead off doubles only to leave them stranded.

The Astros came to visit me in Chicago for a 3 game set.

Game 1- Took out all my frustrations from getting beat down by the Brewers and unleashed them on the Astros. Won this one 9-2.

Game 2- Was down 6-5 heading into the bottom of the 8th, but I put up a 5 spot and now lead 10-5. Gave up 1 run in the 9th, but was able to pick up the win 10-6.

Game 3- Going for the sweep with Ted Lilly on the mound. It didn't start out too well, as Carlos Lee hit a 2 run shot in the first inning, but Lilly settled down and only gave up one more run in the game. I was only able to muster up 1 run, and lost 3-1. Lilly pitched 7 innings, giving up 3. One amazing stat I saw come up in this game was that Marlon Byrd was hitting .650 2 HR's and 7 RBI's on this homestand coming into the game(1-3 during the game).

Now I'm 7-5 in 2nd place behing the Cardinals who are now 9-3. I go on the road to face the mets in a 4 game series, and after that have to face the Brewers again at their place for 3 games.
