Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress
Since I paid $2 for mine I will ignore it's problems.
I fired up my franchise today and I was happy to see my comp can handle this title.
Anyways, I'm the Blue Jays and I played on rookie. It was a fun game of baseball, it isn't the show, but it's enjoyable.
I won 7-2 against the Twins. I guess it's time to try pro difficulty.Comment

Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress
Despite being a HUGE Cardinals fan, I just get tired of pounding the NL Central year in and year out, so I decided to go with the old St. Louis Browns instead (that would be the Orioles for you young-ins) They have IMO the most beautiful stadium (well outside of Busch Stadium, but I'm hugely biased) and their up against stiff competition in the AL East.
First thing I noticed is how little depth the Orioles have in their minors. I'm considering working some trades to see if I can swap for some top prospects as the Orioles have a few positions that are aging rapidly (Middle infield, LF, and 1st base). Pitching could also use some depth, but there are a couple 5 star potential guys scuttling in A ball, so I might see how they develop this year before I make any big moves.
I've been playing every 6th game like a lot of you guys, so the fatigue issue doesn't bother me too much. Besides, it seems like the CPU always has their "A" lineup out there every time anyway, so I figure why stack the deck against myself?
I really need to make some more adjustments to the sliders. On the games I'm playing, I'm destroying the opposing pitchers with only a few expections, which has caused 6 of 9 players in my lineup to be on a "hot streak" which has helped push me in front of the BoSox for the division lead.
I mentioned this in the impressions thread, but I REALLY love the new progression system. I have never looked so hard into my minor league lineups to make tweeks before in ANY game. Knowing their performance is a big indicator of success, it really forces you to consider how you play certain players to make sure they succeed. In the past, I would just play whomever had the higher overall. Now I want to make sure my 5 star potential guys are getting plenty of ABs, maybe even a level down to allow them to succeed a little faster.
I'm having a lot of fun, and having a game that finally plays like baseball makes a huge difference!Comment

Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress
I'm now up to a 10-5 record at the halfway point of ST. And as a bonus, the home runs are finally starting to come. In fact, in all the games I've used classic hitting, I've hit at least one home run in those games. Guess I'm sticking with classic hitting from now on. Also, tried trading Romero to the Nats for Strasburg and they rejected. Oh well.Comment

Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress
I'm struggling at 10-18 with the Cubs but the game is so much fun I don't mind at all. I was starting to really worry about run production but I just finished a game at Arizona where I came back from 4-0 to win 4-6. Soriano smacked a solo shot in the 9th to push me ahead and then I scrapped an insurance run from a walk and a couple of singles.
The way the game keeps you up to date about the happenings around the league is just fantastic. I love the MLB Today presentation in game.Comment

Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress
Had a great game against the A's last night. For the first time this year it was a nail biter coming down to the last pitch. I was winning 2-1 and struggling to get anything going offensively. My starting pitcher went down with a 2-4 week injury in the 4th inning so I had to bring in an emergency reliever. He struggled at first but was able to only give up the one run. I then hodge podged my way through the rest of the game with the bullpen. I ended up getting the save with the tying run on second.
The coolest part was the player of the game was the emergency reliever who "really stepped up" according to Steve Phillips.
I think I've finally found the sliders that work for me.Comment

Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress
Lost 3-2 on Pro difficulty in game 2 in 12 innings. I am awful at recognizing balls and strikes. Looking for the hittter's eye distracts me. I think next few game my only concern will be swinging at strikes and taking balls, and not worry about pulling or pushing them. Just learn to tell them apart and that should help.Comment

In my franchise with the reds and I've had three starting pitchers in 8 games go down with a broken hand or wrist after throwing a pitch in the first few innings. Has anyone else seen this. First it seems excessive but also how do you break your wrist throwing a pitch? I'm not even close to the recommended pitch count.PC Specs:
