    Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

    As the Jays, I had Aaron Hill, Joe MacDonald, Escobar, and Mike McCoy all go down for months in three games.

    As the Cubs, I've played 20 games and haven't seen any injuries.

      JBH, thats good to see and I definitely do see the AI making good decisions at times, but I dont know...

      I still see, for example, closers not coming in for the 9th when they should, or a starter getting pulled way too early (John Danks was pulled after just 2 and a 1/3 innings, he had given up only 4 hits, but I had scored 3 runs. I just dont think you pull your starter there.)

      Its not that bad though, really a slightly minor issue.

      Also I have my injuries on 38 right now, may bump it down to 30 as I've seen 2 injuries in 3 games.

      I like how injuries are handled now though.

As I mentioned earlier, my pitcher will go down in the 5th, the computer will take out their pitcher in the 2nd (if there is an injury).

        I've turned injuries down to 23 but they still seem to happen every game after I change the slider. There's really no way to be sure it is helping until I play deep into the season but by then I may not have any MLB pitchers left healthy. It would be really nice to know what kind of difference 25 makes vs. 40 vs. 50 vs 60. I can't even imagine why anyone would play higher than 50. So far, I'm able to get through 2-3 games without an injury and that's on 30!

        Finally just had Colvin get hurt which is my first position player to get hurt in a non-simmed game.
        I think you are right. I had injury frequency at 40, then changed it to 25. Right after I changed my inj slider, my starting pitcher the next game got hurt.. hmmm

          Lineup has nice pop in it as well as some contact. Although some of your players are a bit older and may break down on you over the long haul.

          As a lifelong A's fan I can tell you I'd love to see that much power in Oakland to back great pitching. I'd say you've got a shot with what you put together.

          Have fun!
          Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to build a team focused on pitching and defense rather than all offense. Pitching and defense wins championships.

            Had another interesting scenario w/ a SP getting pulled. Posted it here.

            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Beat the Cubs 10-9 to salvage a game of my 3-gm road trip @ Chicago - to start 2011.
            There were 3 HRs in the game -- All opposite field . They were hit by, C Chris Snyder, 1B Ryan Doumit, and OF Tyler Colvin. Thought those opp field HRs were fixed. I've still seen them pretty regularly.
            Boy did my bullpen almost blow this one.
            Trotted Evan Meek out for a 2nd inning in the 9th, and he got slaughtered giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs. Won't do that again. Hanrahan came in for what was now a SV situation after having a 6 run lead. Hanrahan recorded 2 outs, but a throwing error at 1st prevented him from getting the SV.
            With Tyler Colvin coming up, I played the matchups and brought Joe Biemel in for the lefty vs lefty. Biemel got the one out SV w/ a K, and the Buccos got their 1st win. Cubs scored 5 runs in the 9th though...
            Star of the game was Leadoff man Jose Tabata.
            He was 5/6 w/ 2 runs, 4 RBI, and 3 stolen bases.
            Pedro Alvarez was 3/5 w/ a 2B and RBI.
            Andrew McCutchen is slumping...he went 0-6, and has started the season 1 for 16.
              W.Lopez
              M. Kirkman
              Obviously Mauer is my one SuperStar, and the rest are pretty good, except 1B.
              no Holliday but pretty solid SP staff as a whole, and above average pen.
              Made some small trades already, nothing big.
              did replace most of my staff though.
              Even though it's a temp Franchise & Fantasy, I tried to pick guys who still got some upside. Probably will try to upgrade my 1B through a trade soon.
                I've made some trades, and i'm liking my team a bit more. it needed a lil more pop.
                like b4, tried not to get too old guys, and I didn't get any Pirates like P. Alvarez as i'll be using them in my main franchise later.
                CF J. Borbon
                LF M.Prado
                1B P.Fielder
                M. Latos
                J. Garcia
                M. Kirkman
                Lost Mauer and Bucholz but got McCann Fielder. solid rotation & pen. 3 Sinkerballers to keep the game fun too. good D up the middle. my hitters r good vs Righties but weak vs Lefties. McCann's D could could use some more speed too.
                  Just moved to 3-2 on the season with the Reds. Phillips hit a walkoff homerun to help me beat the Astros 2-1.
                  Having some trouble hitting the ball, but starting to get better as I get some patience at the plate.
                  Drew Stubbs has an abdominal strain after stealing second and will be out for the next 8 days so Fred Lewis has been inserted into center for the time being
                    I am 10-6 now (playing every game) the constant day-to-day injuries to my pitchers more than make up for the fatigue bug.
                    I was messing around with trying to land Prince Fielder on my Jays. It took Snyder and Lind. I didn't do it because my team lacks depth.
                      I agree with you on Pitching and D wins championships... but as I'd like 5 minutes to say to Mr. Billy Beane in Oakland: HITTING gets you there!
                      No matter how perfect a staff is, if the offense can't get you a run, it's not going to be a W.
                      Have fun with your 'chise. That looks like a fun team to play with that's going to get you some runs to work with.
                        My ST ended at 17-13 and the regular season is off to a great start for me because I beat the Twins in the first two games of a three game series to start the season 2-0. Jose Bautista, Vernon Wells and Edwin Encarnacion went deep in the second game after I failed to hit a home run in the opener. Romero won the opener, with Morrow taking the second game. I'll have Brett Cecil on the hill for the third game in an attempt to sweep the series. Of note, my 29th ST game froze after I finished batting in the second inning, so I had to do that game over. Ah well. Regardless, I feel I have all the pieces necessary to win a World Series this season. I just hope I don't run into that bug from last year where drafted players that were put on the MLB team immediately after the draft would cause the game to freeze every time they came to bat.
                          Struggling...as I should be with the pirates.
                          Andrew McCutcheon has slumped, and both he and Neil Walker are hitting .210 and .227 respectively; however McCutcheon has been a beast on the base paths with 8 stolen bases, being caught only once.
                          Pedro Alvarez is impressing. He is hitting well above .300, and has 3 HRs and 10 RBI. Chris Snyder started off hot, but has cooled down now...but Doumit is raking now hitting .345. Garrett Jones has struggled, he has 3 hits in 37 ABs. I am really missing Jose Tabata too, he should return in about 4 days.
                          Finishing up my first homestand I am sitting at 4-8. Mainly it has been pitching coming up short. Starters are not going the distance, and the bullpen is getting burned up. Surprisingly enough Joel Hanrahan has been great in limited duty, having only pitched 3.2 innings, and it has been Evan Meek struggling......
                          The former allstar has allowed 3 HRs in 9 appearances, and his ERA has ballooned to a whopping 10.25 with a. 445 BAA.
                          Signed a couple veteran starters just in case. Those being Brian Bannister and Ben Sheets. With Sheets I actually increased his potential to 4 stars, and his peak end age to 34...hoping to catch lighting in a bottle and maybe have him reclaim some of that greatness with these new dynamic ratings....pending I actually pitch good with him. His durability is 25 though so it will prolly not happen...
                          Next up is a road trip to Cincy, I will be sending lefties Scott Olsen and Paul Maholm out for games one and two. Cincy draws a lot of power from the left side so I am hoping these two lefties can keep me in the game.....?
                            damn, just had a no hitter into the 9nth inning with Jaime Garcia, 1out, got a bloop single just over the SS's head off the Met's SinSoo Choo....
                            Choooooooooooooooooooo~~~~~~~!!!!!
                            game 3-0
                            a couple of DPs did help a lot though, especially in the later innings.
                            was playing using BIGFNJOE/Blazzens's sliders btw.
                            and the Met's were the #3 NL offense in my fantasy franchise.
                            still, haven't felt this suspenseful with a vid game in while.
                              my franchise's record has been very good so far going 30-23, 1st in the NL central going into June.
                              i usually played 1 game per series so far.
                              sadly my ace T.Cahill is on the 60 DL and my #3 is out for 2 weeks.
                              thankfully my lineup has been dominating all year, with Fielder having a MVP season so far. everyone's had hot & cold streaks, but overall surprisingly good. McCann and J. Bruce inconsistent, but a scary 3-4-5 when they're on. Sandivol has been disapointing so far.
                              the rest r playing as expected a slightly above expectations, especially OPS wise.
                              Garcia has been my ace with 2.65, whip 1.23, 7-3
                              Latos 3.44 started hot but is sorta in a slump right now.
                              my #3-#5 which includes call-ups r being respectable, with 3.99, 5.00 5.40 so far.
                              My pen has been surprisingly very strong too so far.
                              especially Sim-wise i seemed to have made my team too strong, but hey i can live in a lil dream world for a lil while, then it's back to my dreary, bleak, real life roster Pirates franchise in the near future hehe
                                Update on my Oriole's franchise:
                                After being up 4.5 games the week before the all-star break, I went on an **** losing streak and drew even with the BoSox for the division lead. Unfortunately for me, the West looks like it will grab the wild card this year so I need to duke it out with the damn BoSox to make the playoffs.
                                After the AS break, I finally got some players back from injuries (mostly pitchers, but also Brian Roberts who had been out for 2 months). I am playing back above .500 over the last 10 games and have raised my record to 18 game above .500 for the year--dead even with the Sawx.
                                Trade deadline has passed without a significant move (although the White Sox offered me Koenerko for a red-hot Luke Scott....I declined...and Koenerko went on the DL the following week with and elbow problem). I'm about a month and a half from the end of the season and the Orioles are still hanging tough. I think I'm going to make the playoffs, but would not be disappointed if I was beaten out (I like the challenge).
                                Then again, I could be the Yankees. They are dead last in the AL East.
                                I can't wait for the offseason, as I'm going to have some tough choices to make. I have aging veterans like Vlad, D Lee, and Brian Roberts that have really performed well, but I have suitable replacements for them. I'm just not sure I want to give up their offense for potential. Pitching seems to be coming along as I have a couple 5 star potential studs in the minors (Class A, but still). I might see if I can duke it out via the amateur draft for a few seasons before trying to trade them away for the "win now" policy.
                                Overally, I'm loving this game and mode
