2K has made some strides over the years, but still lacks the polish The Show has....which is maddening because 2K11 has a lot to like in there. It's like a crappy looking car that you have to enter thru the passenger side door....but it still runs well and gets you where you need to go.
    Bingo!

2k11 is for people who don't want that full realistic baseball experience but obviously there are people who do but don't have a PS3 to get The Show. 2k11 is perfect for pick up and play because of MLB today. I would rather pick up and play the show anyday but I'm a hardcore baseball guy which is why 2k is not for me. I don't enjoy any sports game that isn't somewhat realistic. I absolutely hate Basketball but NBA 2k is so damn realistic that I really enjoy the game. In fact I like it better than NHL 11 and hockey is my favorite sport. NHL 11 just doesn't have that realistic feeling.

Anyway, The Show is for people who love franchise. That is what I am in to. It is an absolute blast. It takes a lot of time and dedication but in my mind it's totally worth it if you absolutely love baseball.

not trying to start a battle here, but I think 2k11's franchise mode is fine....i agree the show is more in depth but i really don't think there is anything wrong with franchise in 2k11...granted i am only 10 games in but ive simmed a season or two just to check it out and it seemed pretty good. but again everyone has things they like about each. some people react like your insulting their mother when you say you like one game more than another. both games are great, and hopefully if 2k keeps developing they will push mlb the show as well. 2 good games is only a good thing for the consumer

What's in franchise mode for The Show that's not in MLB 2K11 this year? Franchise mode looks pretty good in MLB 2K11 with full minors, DL, draft, September callups, and good stats.

Fatigue bug and the rehab assignment issue?

Not sure. I play the show for franchise and 2k for MLB Today.

Oh, sure, those things are there. My question was what fundamental elements of franchise play are in The Show that aren't in 2K11. It was a genuine feature question since one poster said he plays The Show because of the franchise being so much better.

In terms of bugs, the whole reason the 30-team control thing is as big as it is in The Show is because it has a number of strange franchise bugs of its own. I wouldn't fetishize its franchise mode--going through all those workarounds is, well, a lot of work.

Again, genuine feature question. I have enough to manage in my 2K11 franchise with minors, majors, injuries, draft and off-season and playing some actual games that I can't imagine what *else* they could have put in the franchise mode to make it more realistic.

As someone who has loved The Show since 09 I will say that this game is way better in terms of online. The Show still has lag issues and is way too much of a pitchers game.

I disagree about them being a lot of work in The Show, and I like the total control given with a 30 team franchise. It took my probably 5 minutes longer to set it up than a single team franchise. The real impetus when it comes to 30 team the last few years has been so people can control rosters and lineups for CPU teams.

I am sorry but the bugginess in 2k's version of franchsie has always been an achilles heel with the product. This year is no different. Even simple things like the display in the post game box score summary. How do you mess that up?

As far as features, not sure. I don't play 2k for franchise. For me 2k's strength is presentation and MLB Today. MLB Today like feature should be in every game. Their Presentation is top notch. Probably about as good as any sports game I have played.

Franchise mode simply has never been a strength for the 2ks series. It's getting better. No longer will the CPU teams send star players to AAA for the rest of the season after activating them from the DL. And there are injuries this year. .. Not having fatigue or being able to activate players from injury are pretty fundamental issues are they not?

They're probably as big as issues as you can get, or near it. I really like the gameplay this year, but still haven't started a franchise because of how fatigue and injuries have been handled. I doubt we see another patch come out which is a real shame. I'd like to start a franchise and play a few seasons, but with fatigue as is and injury being the way it is too, I can't get into a franchise.

I've had to stick with playing play now games and using different teams with their player sounds just to keep the game fun and to make it not feel like a waste of money.

I like 2K's franchise. Fatigue works fine for me since the patch. The injury bug is annoying, where guys won't come off the DL, but thankfully there's an easy workaround that solves it, so it's not really an issue. I'm having a blast with my franchise.

But yeah, MLB Today and online multiplayer is where 2K11 really shines. I'm still amazed at how smooth 2K11 plays online since the patch. Hopefully Sony can do something similar with The Show next year to make it less laggy.

The problem with fatigue is now the CPU. Players on CPU teams don't dip below the 70's, so you're seeing half the players in the league getting in 150+ games.

It's been what 5 years now. I have little faith Sony will ever fix online play with the Show.

Must be for position players only? I've noticed the CPU pitchers fatigue normally, but I haven't paid attention to other players.

Not pitchers, just position players. Players like Brian McCann, who is a catcher will get in around 150 games a season in 2k11, but he won't get near that in real life, no catcher will.

Let's see, rule 5 draft, arbitration hearings, compensation, 30 team control (which adds a whole new element to franchise). I'm pretty sure I'm missing a bunch of stuff as well. They have basically everything that occurs in the MLB in the game. If I'm not mistaken MLB 2k doesn't have half of that stuff. That is why my reasoning for a better franchise is MLB The Show. It's for a really hardcore baseball fan that cares about all of the little things involved in being an MLB GM. 2K's franchise mode is pretty skimpy compared to The Show's. It's nothing bad about the game, I'm just saying The Show is much deeper than 2k.

That is not happening in the franchise I am playing. I see alot of guys in the 60's fatigue. Matter of fact, I just played the Indians today and Grady Sizesmore was at 65. I quickly scan over the team health of the team I am playing everyday, and see guys in the 60's alot. Now because I have the CPU set to auto lineups changes, most guys get a day off when they get into the low 70's. I check the lineup cards frequently to see after most games, and the other teams most definitely have different line-ups. If I am not mistaken through 77 games in my franchise there are only a few guys who have played 73 games.

I am curious to see how many guys will play 150+ games this yr in my franchise.
