Just because a game is harder to play doesn't necessarily make it better or more realistic.

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
I also found the strategy deeper in 2K12 because of the more meaningful defensive ratings, superior bullpen fatigue, and a baserunning interface that is robust and easy to accomplish moving different players different ways.
Not only is reading pitches easier, it rewards you for working the count and jumping on mistakes.
Calling 2K12 pick-up and play is just missing what is really going on. Calling The Show realistic is bowing at the alter of style over substance. I don't play a baseball game for cutscenes.Comment

Is 2k12 much better than 11?
Can't get 12 over in UK but can pick up 11Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
I've played both quite a bit recently. 2k11 is probably a better game, but 2k12 is newer with better available rosters.
I play 2k12 now.Comment

Just picked up 11.
Had my doubts after the bad rep this game gets but have to say it really is fun. Love the pitching and stat pop ups after each pitch etc.
The graphics aren't as bad as I was expecting either. Ill still get the Show in March but can see myself playing this for a while.
All in all it plays a really fun solid game of baseballComment

I am just a casual fan (so take this with a grain of salt)....but I didn't notice much of a difference between 2K10 and 2k12...(let alone 2K11). I liked both games, and plan play 2K12 again this year. But the differences are subtle.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
Picked this up on a whim for the PS3 last night and grabbed a set of sliders, albeit for the 360, making some slight adjustments. Haven't played 2K in several years, save for a very short stint on the PC in 10, I believe. The pitching interface is still very highly unique, but I can't believe that the game has not made necessary strides in player animations, camera angles and the like. It's going to take a little more for me to not take this back to GS. And I have no reason to play it on the PC where some have described the gameplay as "broken"..... especially since I have another highly preferred PC option.Comment

Give it a whirl. Also, lowering anticipition doesn't effect overalls at all that I have seen. If it does it is minimal.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
I don't think it's really that as much as the animation mechanisms themselves. I'm not ready to abandon it, but I'm not wanting to put in a whole bunch of work to make me like it, like I would some other 2K endeavor. I have my preferred baseball outlet, but wanted something on a console and The Show hasn't gripped me for some reason, but not for lack of trying.

Well it certainly isn't the game for everyone and I can fully understand it.
When I first picked the game up I already had a copy of the show and PYS but wanted to try something different. I too almost quit playing after a game or two but stuck with it and now it's the game I find myself playing the most even with it's quirky moments.
Took me a while to get used to the different camera angles and find something that I liked.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 - Impressions Thread (PS3/X360)
I have MLB 2K12 fkr th PC. I stopped playing it because I play with auto fielding and since the pc version has not been patched, the outfielders wont throw the ball to put out a runner. I played this way for quite some time by just accepting it as a triple, for instance, even if he made it to third because the outfieder did not throw the ball. Well, I got tired of it. I started playing MLB 2K11 for the PS3. After all the patches, I am enjoying the heck out of this game. I was feeling it played better than 2k12, but I miss several features 2k12 added. So I ask, does the console version (PS3) of 2K12 have the same issue with the outfielders that the PC version has? I'd like to get 2K12 to play until 13 comes out.Comment
