Every now and then, the CPU will offer you some trades that make you say "thank you!" Sometimes the game will offer you a player with a similar rating to your player, except the player they are offering you is younger and has a higher upside, but they just have to fill a need. I have no problem accepting those trades because it makes sense and is realistic.

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
I have never seen Trout progress. He almost always does badly. I don't play all of the games, usually a max of 30 per season, so that is probably why. I understand how progression works, and that is why Tabata rakes.
You gave them a #5 starter who is ranked somewhere near 80 overall and going down. Phrase it however you want; that is what you did. Berdard was the only thing they got in this trade better than waht they had, and he is a slightly above average #5 starter.
Morales is a big upgrade over your previous 1st baseman, Garret Jones, and Jones has a better glove that they cannot even use. All Morales can do is hit; all Jones can do is field 1st base and hit a little bit, except they won't be able to use that upgrade.
You absolutely ripped the Angels off. That's fine. I couldn't care less, but actually come to terms with it yourself.
And to the person who posted about Soriano, while you did rip the CPU off, some team will quite possibly do something stupid like trade for Soriano.Comment

Let's break it down: Many talent scouts have Trout progressing to be the best player in baseball, by the end of this season. Morales can rake. So basically the Pirates got Trout, who people say could be the best player in baseball by the end of this year and a first baseman who can rake, for a below average 1st baseman in Jones, an injury-prone 5th starter in Bedard, and a guy with a lower ceiling than Trout in Tabata?
Yeah that sounds fair...I mean come on lol.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
Exactly...anyone who thinks that trade is fair doesn't know anything about baseball. Again, you can do whatever you want and that's never been debated here, but it is unrealistic and I can't believe people can even argue otherwise.

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
I heard at least 3 guys on the MLB Network and Buster Olney mention well respected talent scouts that believed Trout could be the best player in baseball at the end of this year. I'm not saying I agree necessarily...but the fact is that Trout is the real deal and the only way I see the Angels ever trading him is like 5+ years down the road if its in his contract year and they can't afford to pay him when the year is up. And if they did, they sure as hell wouldn't acquire Jones, Bedard, and Tabata for him. They'd probably get 3-5 blue chip prospects who are ready to contribute now.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
Since I play with the Padres I have traded for Trout for some extra help and I try to make as realistic trades as possible.
I traded Luebke and Quentin for Trout. Keep in mind this isn't real life Luebke this is 2K Luebke. He is 26 years old, 86 overall and 5 star potential. This made their rotation stacked, and Quentin added to an already stacked outfield.Comment

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
I still don't believe that is realistic.
If we're thinking super-realistically, then Mike Trout is untradeable. This is the guy that most people think will be one of, if not the top player in baseball in 2 or 3 seasons time. He is a true 5-tool player, and is already becoming the face of the Angels franchise. They'd sooner release Albert Pujols than trade Mike Trout.
And if we are trading him, then you should be giving away the very best player on your roster - because that's what Trout will become. Not a pitcher with one year under his belt currently under-going Tommy John and an in-decline streaky power outfielder who will likely platoon.
It is a game, so I have no problem with people making those kinds of trades - but you can't call them realistic.Comment

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
I always play as my hometown team the Tigers. With that said I really want to try and acquire an everyday second baseman, preferably with a little speed to help with the lack of speed in our lineup. I currently have Andy Dirks playing hot for me as well as Quintin Berry playing fairly well. With that being said I have never been able to stand Ryan Raburn and would like to get rid of him, and with Dirks playing so well probably shopping Delmon Young around to try and acquire a second baseman.
Any suggestions?Comment

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
Alright so I thought about it some more and yeah I robbed the Angels by getting Trout for nothing. So I decided to trade Trout back to the Angles for Tabata. This way the trade that I previously did would now just be Jones and Bedard for Morales.
I made two other trades during my franchise so far...I traded Nate McLouth (70 OVR and 3*) and Wyatt Toregas (61 OVR and 2* w/3* potential) for Jason Donald (71 OVR and 3*)
The other trade being Casey McGehee (73 OVR and 3* w/4* potential) for Travis Snider (70 OVR and 3* w/4* potential)
I hope nobody thinks those trades were unfair now.Comment

I don't know what Altuve's rating is on 2k12 though, but he seems to match your description in real life :PComment

Re: Franchise Trade Talk
I think there are definitely two methods of thought to trading in a video game. One is to make realistic, real life trades, and another is to make unrealistic trades that improve your team a ton. I don't think either is wrong, but maybe before you post a question asking who to trade for, you should make your intentions known. Are you looking for a player you can steal from another team, or a trade that would actually happen? This would probably clear things up.Last edited by PikesPeakUC; 06-20-2012, 09:13 PM.Comment
