    Re: Franchise Trade Talk

Anybody who wants a good, young, and controllable LH SP, I suggest Brad Hand.

He has a lethal 12-6 when he's on his game, and I've found his pitches are pretty effective because of his delivery.

I recently threw a 15 K, 4-hit shutout on 2K11 mostly because he was on a hot streak and had an 86 ovr. 12-6 curve.

He'll also be on the hot corner whenever Chipper rests a game.

So yeah moving Prado to 3rd is a good move, you may also consider moving him to 2nd if you are dealing Uggla (that's where he spent most of his time). If you have Prado on your team look for deals involving an outfielder, so you can move him to the infield.
McCann just went on the 30 day DL so I can't afford to move Uggla now. I did just trade Julio Tehran and a prospect for Bryan Gardner and a prospect. Gardner doesn't give me power ( I can only hit HRs with McCann and Freddie Freeman anyway) but hopefully he gives me someone I can manufacture runs with. He's starting in CF (Bourne has been on DL all year), Costanza in LF. Moved Prado to 2B, uggla to SS (based on ratings) and hopefully I can score some more runs. My only consistent offense hss been Freeman, McCann and Heyward.

Trade thoughts? He might find a happy home in the AL.

also, It doesnt look like there are correct start times.
I dont see any 3pm or 8 pm start times out there
I'd try Soriano to Tampa for Brignac. Call up Jackson to play LF. Brignac becomes a super utility guy and you can also deal DeWitt for some bullpen help

          Re: Franchise Trade Talk

I'm doing an association with 2 teams from each division. One being the Dodgers. Im trying to fill a need for a bat in Left Field.

I'm starting Jerry Sands and have J. Rivera/Tony Gwynn backing him.

A trade that I'm thinking of is:

Juan Rivera, LF and Matt Treanor, C

          for

          Alfonso Soriano, LF(Cubs)

Is this a fair trade? or does anyone have any other suggestions. Thanks

              Re: Franchise Trade Talk

I'm not that big of a trade guy, but I like to breakdown CPU trades. This trade was made between two of CPU teams in my franchise and I suppose this would be the proper thread to discuss it.

              Date: 7/3

Cubs trade: Ryan Dempster & Chris Volstad
Angles trade: Mark Trumbo & Macier Izturis

This trade really just doesn't make much sense to me. Both teams are currently in last place in their divisions. Chicago is 17.5 games back and the Angels are 12.5 game back.

It's kills the Cubs pitching staff, however at least they get Trumbo, but with Rizzo, do they really need him? Izturis went straight to AAA.

For LAA Dempster becomes their 5th starter and Volstad when to AAA. I guess it gives them good pitching depth, but is it really worth giving up a good young player for?

I'd say that they Cubs won this trade pretty. It will be interesting to see if this is just the first piece of the puzzle and one (or both) of these teams makes another move before the trade deadline.

As for myself, I'm about 8 games out of the Wild Card with Atlanta. I'm in need of a good, power hitting, outfielder who bats right handed. Any suggestions?

                  Re: Franchise Trade Talk

                  Atlanta (me)
                  Trades:
sp - Jair Jurrjens - 82 OVR, 26 years old

                  Boston
                  Trades:
                  C - Ryan Lavarnway - 75 OVR, 24 years old
SS - Jose Iglesias - 60 OVR, 22 years old

Atlanta's thought process: It is just after the All Star break and we are 14 games out of first place and 8.5 out of the Wild Card. Although, Jurrjen's is our number 3 starter we're essentially dumping salary along with getting some good prospects back. Jurrjens is 4.4 million in 2012 and 7.26M in 2013. Whereas, Lavarway and Iglesias would cost us about 1.9M this year and about 2.1M next. They are also both signed to six year deals that aren't too expensive overall. Lavarway, would eventually be McCann's replacement. Iglesias would share time with Pastornicky in a a few years and if he pans out may take the starting job.

Boston's thought process: They are currently trailing the Rays by one game for the AL East lead and the Yankee's are only a half game back of them. Jurrjens would come in as their 4th starter and bump Alfredo Aceves out of the rotation. Aceves (78 ovr) is currently 5-4 with an ERA of 5.17. This move is more for this year rather than the future.

                  Thoughts?

I traded for Lawrie from blue jays in my Braveschise, young, good power and contact, can play outfield in LF or RF, also some infield like 3B.

I just don't feel like the Jays would move Lawrie any time soon, but I guess stranger things have happened.

                        Re: Franchise Trade Talk

You guys tell me if this seems realistic. It was trade deadline deal, and I was looking to ship off Matt Garza to a contender for prospects since the Cubs are scuffling.

For reference, I'd made several other trades during the season that saw Marlon Byrd, Geovany Soto, and Alfonso Soriano already shipped out, so Rizzo, Welington Castillo, and Brett Jackson have both been on the big league club for a while. Rizzo longer than Jackson.

                        Cubs (me), send:

                        Matt Garza
                        Josh Vitters and
                        Brett Jackson

                        to Angels for:

                        Mike Trout
64 overall, 20 year old, 5* second base prospect and... get this
47 overall, 22 year old, 5* middle reliever

My reasoning on this was Trout has a far higher upside and is 80 overall at 20 whilst Jackson is a 70 overall at 22. Getting rid of Vitters was a no-brainer due to my first round draft pick (Edinson Bosick) who is 19 and a 6'3" 239 lb. First Base/Third Base prospect who is tearing the cover off the ball in the minors so far. Oh and he's already a 76 overall. He'd be on the big league club, but I have a strict realism policy in regards to prospects which means they spend plenty of time in the minors. Losing Garza is tough, but the Cubs actually have some pretty dang good pitchers in the minors in Concepcion, McNutt, and Jackson among others. The second baseman has time to develop as Barney is a solid 2nd baseman for the time being.

Also, I was taken by surprise to see a 47 overall player possessing 5* potential. Anyone ever seen a player like that before?

I think Garza and Brett Jackson for just Trout would work. But not for 2 of their top prospects and the future of their team.

Also how do you like Rizzo? I traded Cashner back to the Cubs for Rizzo in my Padres franchise. I like the combo of Rizzo/Alonso for my future.

I also changed him and Cashner to 5*'s

Rizzo's having a pretty good rookie season for me. Waited til late May to call him up. So he's played around 70 games and is hitting .243 with 12 homers and 38 RBI's. I'm happy with that for a 22 year old rookie.

                            ANOTHER DEADLINE DEAL

                            Cubs (me) send:

                            Ian Stewart
and 3* pitching "prospect" (mid-60's and 28 years old)

                            to Pirates for:

                            Pedro Alvarez

Does this seem fair? Given the circumstances in the game, this trade actually makes a ton of sense.

Stewart is hitting around .230 with 11 homers and 44 RBI's for me, and Alvarez was only getting spot duty for the Pirates (they have Casey McGehee and he's playing alright but not great), and Alvarez in his limited duty (35 games) was hitting a horrific .131 with 4 homers, and 6 RBI's. Stewart and Alvarez are comparable ratings wise as well and are similar in age.

My reasoning for making this trade was two-fold. Stewart is not going to get much better, but Alvarez, despite quickly looking like a bust thus far in his career in the game and in real life, is still 25 and has that 5* potential dangling out there.

As I said before, I have that minor league 1st baseman who has stud written all over him, and he can play 3rd base. I figure if Alvarez continues to play poorly, I can sleep easy parting ways with him in the next year or two and bring up my prospect. However, if he turns the corner and starts hitting well, I have the option of trading him anyway, but he'll fetch a far greater return if his play, and thus his rating improve. Or, if he pans out and Rizzo doesnt for whatever reason, I can bring up the prospect, part ways with Rizzo, and keep Alvarez.

What do you think about editing Rizzo to a 5* instead of a 4*

                                Re: Franchise Trade Talk

Interesting thread! I'd love to talk about trades in Franchise mode .

For me, I am with the Oakland A's and doing phenomenally well, as I am 22-10 (Yeah 22-10) and playing on Legendary... but my SP's just keep going the distance, and have incredible stamina :P. Anywhooooo my offence is a key problem for me, with me trading Brandon Allen already early in the season, I found that OF prospect Michael Taylor can play 1B, so I decided to slot him in that position for the time being. My offence has been OK, they did get off to a great start, but the only two damage players I have are CF Yoenis Cespedes and RF Josh Reddick who are tearing up the ball. I have also a very, very, solid pen, and almost no budget room left.... and I am looking to possibly move Coco Crisp (1 year/$4MM) and throw Michael Taylor in LF and move Brian Fuentes (2 year/$9.5MM I owe him $4MM this year) who has been phenomenal, but I already have Koji Uehara (Traded Colon for Uehara; Brad Peacock took Colon's place in the rotation) so it wouldn't matter much if I trade him up.... I am looking to add 3 players come trade deadline who are:
                                DH Edwin Encarnacion (TOR)
                                DH Victor Martinez (DET)
                                RP Tim Collins (KC)

I am probably going to trade low on Encarnacion as he is a player with his contract in the last year, he is tearing it up, and is actually the leading vote getter in the AL All-Star team for the DH position. I am looking to give the Jays Sam LeCure (Good long reliever from Cincy; but has been horrid for me, 7.80 ERA in 6.1 IP out of the 'pen, got him for Seth Smith and feel ripped off :P) and throw in a few prospects or maybe even Josh Donaldson from my AAA team.

I know, I know, you guys are looking on the list and see V-Mart and probably laughing your a** off, but hey I have my reason behind this. Since the injuries from real life didn't get imported into the game, V-Mart is still healthy but on the bench (YES ON THE BENCH). The Tigers have a 33-year old switch hitting 1B/C/DH player who is owed $10.40MM for the next two years and $9.60MM in his last year on the bench. He has 90+ contact, and he is on the bench.... LOL. Vs LHP and RHP you have Miggie at 1B, Avila at C, Fielder at DH, and Boesch at third. So for the good of the game, I am going to get rid of Crisp and Fuentes and some AA player who I owe $1MM this season for some odd reason, to make some cap space to get Mr. Martinez onto my team. He will probably take over 1B duties over EE.

As for Tim Collins, well, he is thrown into AAA by the Royals and they aren't demanding much, so why shouldn't I get him on my team? Especially since I am getting rid of Fuentes, I need another pitcher to fill the void.

So the possible trades that I have are:
                                TOR - 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion
OAK - RP Sam LeCure, RP Merkin Valdez

                                DET - 1B/C/DH Victor Martinez
OAK - OF Coco Crisp, RP Brian Fuentes, AA 1B player

KC - (AAA) RP Tim Collins
OAK - (AAA) SP Graham Godfrey

So how do you guys like the trades? I didn't trigger them yet, but they seem to work and I would be still at a profit and not a deficit. Thanks for reading!
