Will There be a multiplayer franchise in the game? It would be cool if ESPN has this because MVP and ASB don't. I need to have the giants/dodgers rivalry against my twin bro. Thanks.

      Re: Any questions?

You talked about it a little, but how's the atmosphere this year? Is the crowd A LOT louder? Is there more in game music? What about custom walk up music for xbox?

Also, is the playoff atmosphere any different than the regular season?

Oh, one more thing. For online play is there anything done to prevent people from bringing in starters as relievers? Playing the Red Sox, and facing Pedro every time, with Schilling coming in for relief would get pretty old.

hey FP is there collision detection on homeruns, and if the sports ticker shows homeruns?

Also, FP I am right now sold on MVP but still might switch to ESPN. Could you tell me what seperates ESPN from MVP?

                        <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hiram Bithorne is in, although you'll have to select it manually in franchise if you're the expos. The home games will always be at Olympic by default.

The "zone" hitting (it's not really, we call it "cursorless" around here for lack of a better term) works out pretty well. Since it's more intuitive (and therefore easier) than cursor, we sped up pitch speeds to compensate. On every difficulty level except Rookie, pitches come at actual speed (i.e. a 97MPH fastball is moving at 97 MPH). There's an option to slow it down if you want, though. Increasing difficulty (or using crappy hitters) will require you to aim more precisely to make good contact (or contact at all). Hit variety with this mechanism is better than last year, since we've also tweaked the batted ball physics (i.e. bridging the gap between contact and power swings so that they aren't as different from each other as they were last year).

We did add celebrations for when the hitting team wins.

You may or may not find a minor leaguer in the Cubs system named Steve Homerman. A catcher, of course.

GM Career is the biggest improvement. You work for an owner who makes various demands and your pay and job security depend on how well you can meet his expectations. Owners have different personalities and different areas of focus (you may have an investor owner who is interested only in money, or a dictator who accepts nothing less than the world series every year, etc.). The goals are a little more realistic than in other similar modes -- you aren't just trying to pile up stats, you have to do things like get a power hitter in the offseason, get rid of an underperforming/disloyal/overpaid player, make a certain amount of profit, etc. There's an actual way to win the game instead of just going on indefinitely. I like this mode because it makes every year of franchise mode different; you have to use different strategies to succeed year after year instead of following the same formula every time.

There have also been improvements to the draft, trade, and signing logic, as well as the lineup generation, AI handling of pitchers, simulation, etc. You can play any game on the schedule, not just your own, as well as use the GameCast feature to watch games as they simulate, make substitutions, etc.

No multiplayer franchise or GM Career, although we still allow up to 30 users in Season mode.

Coaches age and retire, lots of franchise-specific stat overlays in the game itself, and probably some other things that I'm forgetting.
