GM Career is the biggest improvement. You work for an owner who makes various demands and your pay and job security depend on how well you can meet his expectations. There have also been improvements to the draft, trade, and signing logic, as well as the lineup generation, AI handling of pitchers, simulation, etc. You can play any game on the schedule, not just your own, as well as use the GameCast feature to watch games as they simulate, make substitutions, etc.
No multiplayer franchise or GM Career, although we still allow up to 30 users in Season mode.
Coaches age and retire, lots of franchise-specific stat overlays in the game itself, and probably some other things that I'm forgetting.
