I was thinking about doing the same thing. I was wondering though when you say trade in what do you mean? Do any of the gamestores still take back opened new games with a receipt? Please let me know because that's the way I want to go then. Also, being there is a 10 dollar price difference between both games would they give you 10 cash back or store credit?

They don't let you return it once it's opened. A few stores let you return it for the same game if you have a receipt. I think what they're talking about is trading in MVP for a reduced price and chipping in the difference. Like buying it for $50 and selling it for $35 and shelling out another $15. You can look at that extra $15 bucks as renting the game twice from Blockbuster.

Re: This is gonna be a long two weeks

Okay take it from someone who has played just about ever baseball game to come out since Atari (yes im old lol).....

Last year I put ESPN (well World Series) a tad bit above MVP because it looked better, had a more robust franchise mode, and just seemed more realistic and more of a polished product...MVP didnt really suck last year, ESPN was just that much better........

This year..I have MVP 2004. I dont have the new ESPN baseball yet so I cant compare MVP to this years ESPN and neither can anyone else on this board unless you have the beta I guess. As it stands. MVP 2004 is leaps and bounds over MVP 2003. It totally kicks MVP 2003's *** and every aspect. Now comparing MVP 2004 to last years World Series baseball...MVP 2004 is a better game IMO but it doesnt flat outright kick its ***..but its a better game for the simple fact that MVP 2004's dynasty (franchise) mode this year is just way more robust than World Series of last year.....BUT.....the Jury is still out in my opnion when it comes to comparing MVP 2004 to this years ESPN cuz its not out yet. I do know this though... if there is at least one thing the ESPN will beat MVP out on this year will be the graphics and presentation. They are just way more crisp and clean...but thats the only thing I can compare now cuz ive seen screenshots of ESPN this year. I cant compare the gameplay and dynasty modes yet. IMO i have a feeling this year these two games will be neck and neck with people slightly choosing one over the other based on little things that one might have the the other one doesnt..but I think they will be very close as far as likability.

See i give honest opinions about the games because I will go out and purchase both. Im not some snot nosed 14 year old kid on this board who will talk about how one totally kicks the other one's *** just because mom only let me buy one of them instead of both. I tend to see alot of that on boards lately. If a kid gets MVP and cant afford the other game..he will be like "awwww yeah.. MVP is the greatest ever!!" but if he bought EPSN instead hed be saying the same thing because he is really just trying to convince himself and other people that he made the right choice between the two. Like I said...thats not me. I will own both games so you will get an honest comparision between the two and not some biased opinion based on the one game i could afford to get. And thats not knocking someone who cant afford to go out and get both games...but if you can only get one, at least be REAL with your opinions and stop the "mines better than the other one because its the one I own" routine..it gets old people....really.

Since I get sports games predominantly to play on Xbox Live, I don't even consider games without online support. I think most other Xbox Live gamers feel the same way. Hoepfully someday EA will support online play for the Xbox, but until then I won't even read about their games....not out of some innane sense of spite, just because I know I won't buy them regardless of how fabulous they may be.

If I were to try to convince others to get a specific sports game, it'd be so I had more potential opponents online. If someone's not online or is playing on another platform, I couldn't care less what they play....go play some buggy High Heat 2002 on PC for all I care!

I hear ya, I almost got drawn into buying MVP, however I had to stand my ground. I won't buy this game because it is not on XBox live. EA needs to get together with Microsoft and make a deal fast! Besides, I really would LOVE to play Battlefield 1942 on Live.

I hear ya, I almost got drawn into buying MVP, however I had to stand my ground. I won't buy this game because it is not on XBox live. EA needs to get together with Microsoft and make a deal fast! Besides, I really would LOVE to play Battlefield 1942 on Live.
