Re: So what do you rate ESPN 1-10?
A solid 8
It's just unfortunate Sega omitted upgrading the player models, batting animations, as well as the crowd reaction. There's really no excuse. If those would have been given priority, this game surely would have gone down as a classic. Still, it's a very solid game and it's my game of choice this year.PSN: sportdan30

Re: So what do you rate ESPN 1-10?
NINE.
Yes, the graphics are a mixed bag, but for once a company fixed almost all the gameplay issues from the previous year, and they are getting shredded for it in the media. Folks, the consequences of this are dire! For once, I got what I primarily wanted from a developer when it came to the next iteration of their sports title, and I think many others feel the same way. But as a result of all these thoughtless reviews that have been coming out (XBN's being the worst), who knows what will happen next year? Will the suits upstairs demand a sharper focus on fluff, and a laundry list of tedious unlockables? Because clearly gameplay improvements don't guarantee sales or critical respect.
By the way, when's a new "starting five" article coming? I feel like keeping that letter from Visual Concepts up there for so long is a bit weird. Let it drop already. It's like when they killed Morgan Freeman in Unforgiven and set his corpse upright in that coffin outside the bar.Comment

Re: So what do you rate ESPN 1-10?
I understand what you're saying, but remember they *did* add a few fluff things this year, but they sucked and the reviewers called them on the carpet for it (FP, for example).
Although I'm enjoying the game (and moreso with every passing game) in my view it's unconscionable to not fix the two most glaring defects in an otherwise enjoyable game: the horrific swings and the terrible faces (also known as The Sammy Sosa Tragedy).
Perhaps the reviews would have been more forgiving if the swings had been on par with MVP's and the faces didn't look wallpapered on? Just a thought.Comment
