WTF? I'm not doubting you, here, but it certainly does seem odd that the meter would have such an adverse effect on pitch quality. It's almost like you don't *want* to fill it, where I had assumed you wanted to fill it appropriately based on the pitch type (more for fastball, maybe half or 3/4 for curveball).

Yeah, I know, I made a post in the glitches thread about it, because it certainly seems counter-intuitive to what the effort meter is for. And after getting hammered myself, I'm very cautious with the effort meter now. I try to only ever use it on fastballs, I've gotten hurt trying to use it on changeups or breaking pitches.

You can mess with the sliders to reduce the pitch accuracy if you find it too easy, or so I am told.

it seems like maybe the effort meter is to add more speed, but it takes away the breaking of hte ball
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

I thought in the manual it said if you put more effort into curves & changeups that it adds break, not velocity.

That being said, I'm getting hammered as well, although I've only played a few games.

I was getting rocked as well until I just started tapping the pitch button so nothing regitered on the meter. You have a lot more control when you do this and your pitcher doesn't tire nearly as quick. I now only fill the meter on rare ocassions when I'm ahead in the count and looking for a strikeout. My pitching has been a lot better this way.

That's how I do it ohiost....I really think that is what the meter is designed for...If you fill it up most of the time you will get tired therefore the computer will rock that house...If you fill it only when need be then you pitching will be much better....

I don't think the effort meter was meant to be used on every pitch. Only when you are trying for a strikeout or a key strike. I used to use it all the time myself and got hammered much like you guys. The problem with using it all the time is that you lose a LOT of control (even if you only fill up the bar a little bit), so you don't hit your spots. Another problem is that you will use up all your stamina early in the game. I would think your pitchers are probably gassed by the 5th inning if you are using the Effort Meter on every pitch. I usually only use Effort when I'm ahead in the count and aim outside the zone so that I'll either throw a ball or hit a corner with my best pitch. I've been having good results since I started laying off the Effort. Try it out.

I have noticed that even with the meter turned off, that if you tap the button, the control seems much better than holding the button in! Of course, the pitcher makes a big difference as well! I also changed the variability of human pitching to 45, b/c it seemed like no matter who I pitched with, I couldn't hit any spots!
