Something about the screenshots
Wow, I think the textures of the player bodies overall have improved, the faces still have that pasty look to them. Sort of a 'zombie' stare, if you will. Also, even though this year the crowds look a little more varied, it is still way too easy to see where they basically copied and pasted fan images from one sector of the image to another. It would be nice if you could actually feel like there was a crowd watching the game, and not just a barrier between the action on the field and the fact that there is nothing outside of the spectrum of the stadium.Tags: None -
Re: Something about the screenshots
But, what about the crowds? I'm one who feels that with baseball games, it just doesn't feel like we're at a game. Why do the crowds have to look so pixelated, cardboard-ated (new term, LOL!), smudgy, etc? Why does every 10th person look like a woman with a grey sweater? Exaggerating, of course, but this is the kind of treatment that baseball games have been getting. What about the dugouts. It never looks like there is any life in the dugouts. No movement whatsoever. You'd think they all had rigor mortis or something.Comment

Re: Something about the screenshots
I agree with you about the cut-out flat crowds. I believe that's kind of a next-gen thing, though. I know that even with MVP on PC last year that crowds can kill frame rates; especially 3d crowds. I think that's why developers are stuck with using cut-scenes to give life to the crowds. It's just too processor intensive. Don't worry. Next-box will make it all better.Note to Tiburon Marketing:
A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

Re: Something about the screenshots
I've got no problem with the cutout crowds so long as it means that there won''t be framerate problems. They don't look as bad as people make them sound.Comment

ASB had its share of issues, but the stadiums always had a great feel. I don't know if it was the details, the lighting, the angles or whatever, but when you played in Ebbetts field or the Polo Grounds, you really felt like you were going back in time.Comment

Re: Something about the screenshots
I think its a sameness factor. The person who described the 10th person being a woman in a gray sweater was on point but its not just with the crowd. The players also lack variation. And then on top of that they look stiff and in some cases they look like they have the glove on the wrong hand.Comment

Re: Something about the screenshots
It was the fact that the stadiums actually felt large, and that the structures in the stadiums had a nice design to them.
In my next post, I'll show you my biggest complaint about stadiums on ESPN.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
