I'm digging the presentation, lets face it baseball suffers low ratings for a reason. Its not the best sport for television, so I'm digging the presentatin in this game. For a Beta build of this game, I try to take away the positives, simply because if you see something isn't right in the game, and you can't make game or even begin to make one. Guess what I bet for those who have been making games i.e. EA and VC studying film also have tech. consultants ect... They see what you see and more, and they come to grips with what they can technically live with to present with you a good game.

Re: IGN POTD
I love what I saw in those videos.
The presentation is amazing. I've haven't played a Sega baseball game (well formely of Sega) since the Genesis. The presentation alone has sucked me into buying this game on the release date.
Morgan and Miller sound like they're watching the game together.Comment

Re: IGN POTD
Well on the whole this game looks like its coming along very nicely, and I can't wait to see the finished product. I don't really have many compaints so far except for two nickpicking things:
1)The often screamed about horrific bating sound. I've been playing/watching baseball for about 25 years now and I have NEVER heard the ball coming off a bat sound like a starter pistol before. Its crazy, if you close your eyes you would swear you were about to play the old Track and Field game. (I actually started slaming my two mouse buttons as fast as I could before I realized what had happened.)
2)Has anyone else noticed that on some inside or outside pitches that are not swung at, the ball will "jump" towards the middle of the plate after it goes by the batter? Its really annoying.
Everything else so far I'm cool with.Comment

Re: IGN POTD
some very nice comments and many i agree with. Some things i dont necessarily like however are as follows.
1. Brad Ausmus shouldn't be dancing around the bases when he's on second. I know it's only a beta and being user controlled to show us how it works, but they should have the system take into account the runner and whether or not he can actually bluff steal and get back. In other words, seems like there should be some penalty for trying to bluff with a slower runner. Something like putting a fielder out of position increases the chance of an error.
2. the sound of the bat making contact sounds terrible. Really does. As another user said already, add in the fact that it seems to be identical regardless of how you hit the ball, and you end up with less of a chance to predict what's gonig to happen.
3. cpu seemed to swing at too many first pitches. Should be tunable however so not a huge deal.
4. the overcast sky is a very welcome addition, but i just wish they would have the lights on for that sky. It really would make a huge difference in making it believable to us. Of course it's just a minor thing, but something very easily corrected. It's just a known thing. Night and very overcast cloudy days like that have the lights on in stadiums. If they can do it for the n ight games, they can do it for the overcast games too.
5. again minor, but roger clemens looks nothing like clemens at all. Not a huge deal, but he is one of the most regognizable faces in baseball and one of the best pitchers of out generation, so i'd expect him to be done better.
Back to the positives. I love the fluidity of the game. I can deal with the few bad animations and graphical imperfections because the good in this game is so outstanding that it really drowns out the bad. Love the organ misic in between pitches. Gives a nice baseball feel and makes the crowd seem alive. While we're talking about the crowd, it's good to see this year that they exist and participate. Very nice indeed.
Anyway, just as i was saying, this game seems like a must have. I'll pick this up right away and love every minute of it. Very excited for this game.Yankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Re: IGN POTD
First off I think we all sometimes get to caught up in game videos with regards to how a game will actually play. We don't know what level the game was played on, the sliders used, etc. Thta being said, here is my 2 cents:
- The presentation looks outstsanding. I really hope with ESPN gone next year they find a way to mimic this presentation as best as possible. It really helps you get into the game
- It doesn't bother me as much as most people, really it doesn't ... but yeah - the bat sounds are horrific.
- The baserunning thing looks REALLY cool. Not against a human player but against the CPU? OMG!!! I can just imagine the possibilities when you have a really great baserunner on first - you could really disrupt the game. It is so diffrent ... such a unique perspectibve of playing a game - I can't wait.
- The sounds(minus the bat hitting the ball) sounds really good. The Sunday nite ESPN crew is my favorite team and they sound great. Don't forget we have custome music this year so that will be YOUR music playing before each batter
- The animations look good but they could be smoothed out a bit.
Overall - I really like what I see and I am sooo looking forward to this game.Comment
