    Re: IGN POTD

First off I think we all sometimes get to caught up in game videos with regards to how a game will actually play. We don't know what level the game was played on, the sliders used, etc. Thta being said, here is my 2 cents:

    - The presentation looks outstsanding. I really hope with ESPN gone next year they find a way to mimic this presentation as best as possible. It really helps you get into the game

    - It doesn't bother me as much as most people, really it doesn't ... but yeah - the bat sounds are horrific.

    - The baserunning thing looks REALLY cool. Not against a human player but against the CPU? OMG!!! I can just imagine the possibilities when you have a really great baserunner on first - you could really disrupt the game. It is so diffrent ... such a unique perspectibve of playing a game - I can't wait.

    - The sounds(minus the bat hitting the ball) sounds really good. The Sunday nite ESPN crew is my favorite team and they sound great. Don't forget we have custome music this year so that will be YOUR music playing before each batter

    - The animations look good but they could be smoothed out a bit.

Overall - I really like what I see and I am sooo looking forward to this game.

Uhh.. Did anyone notice the fact that when Benito Santiago struck out, he threw his helmet down and walked towards the mound waiting for his teammates to bring him his glove and hat!!! Hmmm.

Yeah....Where is he going? Are they going to bring his shin guards, and the rest of his catcher's gear out to him too?

Cute animation, wrong position player for that animation.

Yeah I noticed that as well. I got a good laugh out of it.

It doesn't really bother me though since it's not an animation that might effect the outcome of a game (like slow moving animations on double plays and such). I know ESPN and MVP for that matter had some issues with some double play animations last year. At least it looks like those are fixed!

It's probably a little difficult to program the animation so that only the C for a team returns to the dugout after a K and not any other player.

Hey, they were able to program specific homerun poses, celebrations, stances, etc.... If they can make Sammy the only one that hops, they can keep the catcher from going through an infielder's post strikeout animation. Not too hard. Just lazy.

I'm sure it was on a low difficulty. IGN is notorious for that.

                      Re: IGN POTD

I just finished looking at the Vids. The only question I have is what was that thing at the bottom when the player is batting? Homerun Swing or something like that?

Anyways I like the look and feel of the game. It seems like they've made positive steps by leaps and bounds. This will probably be one of the more immersive titles in terms of gameplay on the field.

The Franchise (what we've seen so far) looks a bit weak but pretty good overall. It's going to be the gameplay that makes or breaks this game for me. I am buying it so I hope it'll be a good purchase.

I really like the pitching system as it seems like you can pitch in just about any way you want to. I do share the concerns on how easy it looks but it's prolly on rookie.

Overall, i'm looking forward to this game and building up the Nats!

...and about the difficulty - don't worry about that too much. They have about 3,000 sliders and such (or something like that ) to adjust the batter contact, pitch speed, etc.

Ehh, I kind of agree and disagree. This coming from a guy who's written his fair share of code in his day. It's much easier to assign a single HR animation to a single player than to assign different sets of strikeout animations to different sets of players. Not to mention less code, space, memory etc...

I guess it's really a moot point anyway. It doesn't have any effect on gameplay and is almost like complaining about a players sock color. I'd rather the bigger issues be fixed before something like that.
