It should be the same system they used last year - true aim(which wasn't purely timing based). It was a 360 degree zone hitting system. It was actually pretty good. It took a bit to get used to, but it really forced the user to make good contact in the correct zone to get a hit. IMO, it was really one of the better hitting systems I've ever played.

As for the other things you mentioned. We'll just have to wait and see. If last year was a telling sign, then you'll be able to adjust the game at will with the sliders. So if turning off the slamzone does in fact hurt HR totals, there's a slider to fix that. One thing I really liked about ESPN's sliders was that it didn't take much of an adjustment to see a difference. Even adjusting the slider by 2 or 3 clicks made a difference.

If that's your concern, don't worry. It played very well in terms of realistic baseball last year. Walks, stolen bases etc....

My biggest gripes last year were mainly graphics and animations. Some of the animations were pretty bad. It looks like they fixed some of the, but others still look awkward.

Re: There's no justice in the world

i'm mostly concerned with the default gameplay, the standardized gameplay used online, maybe that is why I am shying away a bit from ESPN. Also, I don't think I would like to change settings around until it was customized to where I liked it like the other games. I might still like it, but hope is fading the more I learn about the game.

I just like a game that is fair, realistic to the point where you don't have to tweak it too much for personal use, so you feel like you are playing the same game as your friends and that it is fair when you play each other. I wouldn't pick a harder hitting system to make it more realistic if it would also put me at a disadvantage so somebody using a different system.

I like flexibility in sliders, I don't want to have to in essence build the gameplay parts, people like different things, but I am so perfectly fine with the systems that MVP and MLB are using that I feel no need to fiddle around.

Add on the complaints I have about the swinging animations/follow-thru, the funny bats, the clipping on the base paths, the "run full speed towards the base and stop without slowing down or overruning the bast", and the strange defense that seems to come out of everything, players tend to teleport to balls out of their range, a tweak they may have done that makes the stats come out more realistic, but at the same time detract from the reality. The fielding in the OF looks very awkward too, how the fieldersin are all running around in circles and jittering along until they catch the ball.

It represents good gameplay, but as the game is unfolding, some pretty strange things happen, strange gameplay additions such that like I said earlier, that a pitcher gets worse at throwing a pitch the more the game goes on, the pitch actually gets slower etc, even if you have plenty stamina. It is something they may have added in to up the BA or OBP, etc. While 989 or EA seem to find out why something is low and then fix it, Kush seems to be adding in random gameplay elements that have nothing to do with baseball in order to yield realistic statistics.

Re: There's no justice in the world

Yeah I don't game online much, but it sounds like the slamzone and stuff will probably be turned on for online games. Probably not a good thing!

I guess I'm the opposite in terms of sliders. Granted it's sometimes a pain to get them adjusted to what I like, but I actually enjoy the trial and error process for some reason. Last year ESPN definately needed some serious slider tweaking. No doubt about that. I did the same with MVP though because I didn't like how it played out of the box. Then again, some things were just broke in both games and sliders weren't able to fix them.

It's odd because many of the older games that I loved, there were no sliders. Now I can't live without them!

Well, OS hasn't simulated an MVP or MLB season yet, so we're not sure how those will pan out either.

To those that said they would only buy this game if the "*** **** swing animations weren't so bad," they're much better. Those people agree for the most part, also. But, I feel that most of those people are trying to find some other excuse on here as to why they won't buy it. I'm hearing a lot of "The sound of the bat is horrible." Yes, it is horrible, but audio options can turn it down.

I don't know, it seems like that they're trying to make some sort of reasonable excuse to avoid this game. Swings were horrible last year, and you guys said this game is so great, but I can't buy it because the swing animations... it's fixed this year (except for when they hit it, which you only see on replay anyway), and I still hear people saying that they won't buy the game.

Let me put it this way: If my sister walked in on me watching porn, she'd call me a pervert... If I walked in on my sister watching porn, she'd call me a pervert.

There's just no justice in this world.

If you think that turning down the audio (so that you don't have to hear the crack of the bat) is going to be an effective solution, you're dreaming. Turning down the audio will likely turn down other aspects of the game that you would want to listen to.

No, the SFX. Remember, there are different audio properties that you can remove. And, if you've ever watched a game, the sound of the bat is really all that you can hear in terms of SFX.
