It sucks that the NFL had to push the deal.

Just a friendly question, but would you like 2K games more than EA's games if they were more polished?
Because me personally, I know ESPN NFL is not perfect. It has more bugs than Madden I bet, but I like it more because it plays better in my opinion. The bugs don't pop up very often, and they are not gamekillers for me at all. I just think ESPN NFL plays more of an exciting and simulation style game to me.
    Great question...
ESPN NFL 2K5 would have SLAYED Madden 2005 (IMHO) would have been far better than Madden. No contest. And the same goes for ESPN NFL 2K4 versus Madden 2004.

I even wrote this article on my own site to try to get "Madden Fanboys" to try ESPN this year...

(that was originally posted on the day after ESPN NFL 2K5 was released.)

But thats the thing.. VC is always on the cusp of the most brilliant game ever created.. be it football, baseball, NHL, or basketball...

only to find within 2 hrs of playing that theres big problems in paradise. I know all games have bugs, but the kind of bugs VC's games ship with are of the sort that you just go "What the????"

And, lets be honest, its become a trend.

Again, I think VC needs to use Op. Sports people to playtest their games before they release. Heck, I'd volunteer my time for it, so would probably 100% of you guys. We'd be honored to do so.

What bothered me most about the NFL 2K5 game was that they released a month earlier than EA's game. I wish they would have spent 3 more weeks with playtesting and released only one week before EA's game, in the interest of bug fixing.

Myself and some others actually trying to lobby some people at VC about still making a "pro-football game" and perhaps seeking a "Hall Of Fame" license. They could have classic "teams" (though not authentically named) with the team color scheme, with the real names of the HOF players .. -with the rest being editable.) Also, they could conceivably reproduce "Classic" stadiums (if it is a currently destroyed/unused NFL stadium- such as Cleve. Municipal, 3 Rivers, RFK, the Vet, The LA Mausoleum, Shea Stadium, etc... No response to my efforts yet, but any football announcement from T2 will probably be coming within the next 2 months (if any at all.)

Of course, people still call me a VC "*****", which clearly isn't accurate. I just want them to go the extra mile on the polish.

I am actually pretty pissed about the deal. Not only is it bad for the gaming community, I am absolutly loving MVP 05 and actually prefer most of EA's titles. MVP 2005 is by far the most fun I've had playing a baseball game and it's very realistic (In my opinion). I actually prefer Madden and Live over 2K's versions. Barely. I have ESPN NFL 2K5 and Madden and I give the slight edge to Madden. I have also played ESPN NBA 2K5 a lot and own Live, and give Live a slight win.

I just wish that none of this exculsive crap happened. It sucks, even when you still have the game that you like more.

Re: Anyone else happy that Take2 has the MLB rights for the future?

Competition equals the games we get now. We'll see how no competition goes next year.

But, since owning both this year, and playing both last year.....gotta say while its ok that they did get the rights, I also have to say its disappointing. EA didnt really need to upgrade the actual mechanics of the game at all, and it still plays smoother than MLB2k IMO. And the fact MLB2k rips off MVP's pitching meter shows that they know they are lagging behind. The best thing about MLB2k5 is how its presented, and most of it is going to have to be stripped and rebuilt next year. Being given a full year to catch up to MVP while MVP didnt really concentrate on the mechanics, and still not catching up.....kinda makes it feel hopeless being they have even more to work on next year.

Re: Anyone else happy that Take2 has the MLB rights for the future?

I'm upset about it because I believe it's the inferior game and as it's a new engine (I believe) it will take some time to become better. I'm upset because ESPN sports games have poor testing for bugs and I can't see a monopoly helping the issue. I'm upset that EA brought this issue on by entering into a monopolistic deal with football. These deals are bad for gamers.

Baseball does not have a monopoly- its not an exclusive deal. If anything, its an oligopoly but that's really not that different from the status quo.

It's time to grow up now and put on your big boy pants. You've been warned numerous times about junk like this. What's so hard about stating your own opinions about a game and letting others have theirs? Grow up already.
