Re: The game stops at the hitting and pitching interfaces.
Poor AI? Well, ain't gonna get into with you, but when I play, all runners advance when they should, pitchers are pulled, pinch hitters come in, the game has some flaws (not enough bunting), but I'm loving this game. All I have to say as the pros and cons have been gone over time and time again.Comment

I agree with brudjazz about the scripted stuff. Just Like NFL 2K5, it's there, it doesn't belong, and it can't be eliminated. I assume that's what he meant by "bad AI".Comment

Re: The game stops at the hitting and pitching interfaces.
where the CPU takes control of your fielders and catches the ball before you've even have a chance to blink
But baa7, isn't that just the assisted fielding kicking in. Assisted fielding will automatically set your fielder off towards the ball and then at some point you have to take over the fielding.Comment

IF my assisted fielding is already turned off: what I’m saying about the web gems and goofy outfield slide-dives is similar to what they programmed into NFL 2K5 with the INT’s and DB animations (and subsequently ruined the game as a result). EA started doing this with their sports games a few years ago, and now VC seems to be picking up on it. They’re trying to program “exciting plays!” into these sports games – the type of diving grabs you can see on the opening credits with the MLB film footage. It’s almost as if that footage inspired them to program the game in such a way that the CPU will take control of your fielders every once in a while and make that spectacular grab. Even John and Joe seem to have special sound bytes to describe these “great grabs”.
There’s more and more of this sort of pre-programmed, CPU-takes-control nonsense in console games these days, and it’s one of the reasons I haven’t bought an EA game in three years. Unfortunately, it looks like VC / T2 / Kush is also going this route.Comment
