I haven't bought a baseball game since MVP 2005. Sad that game is still better franchise-wise from the sounds of it. Looks like I made the right call passing again.

Maybe someday 360 users will have a baseball game worth a damn.

tony... it's just like madden. it doesn't work... people buy this game and then realize they later don't want it. it's stupid people like me that buy the hype. but you are right...money talks.

Money does talk...but the big problem is that the vast majority of gamers don't really care about an edit limit as they just play the game right out of the box. I have to constantly remind myself that the people here, at OS, are somewhat of a rare breed when looking at the big picture. A lot of people buy the game and play it right out of the box, with little regard to a realistic minor league roster set.

We're a dying breed I guess and right now, we're losing the battle and some gaming companies are not really listening...they may act like they are, but are they really? I kind of doubt it, at least when it comes to roster issues.

Maybe I'm completely wrong. I just don't know, there's just no other explanation why 2K chooses to ignore us on this issue.

This is potential good news... I hope that "relatively certain" becomes certain.

I have decided to start working on a roster file. It's going to take me some time, but I'm making good progress. Won't be perfect, but will at least get us rolling for opening day. I'll keep you posted on my progress and will probably start up a new thread once I have something to share.

I finally hit my limit... Sucks, as it could have been a really good file. Stupid thing is, I was naming a player and the limit hit me between naming his first and last name. Gave me a good laugh, though.

I think I'm going to try and just get the MLB rosters right (for now) and then post them. I'll just start over again, waiting to see 1) what kind of update 2k provides (with more players named to save on the edits) and 2) what Ronnie provides us regarding a possible patch update to expand the roster naming edits.

Frustrating... Feel like I wasted a bunch of my time, but I knew this would happen.

That is odd and makes me think that maybe the name limit is really 300? But that include first and last names? Maybe you edited a name by accident? Or maybe if you edit the same name twice, it counts as 2 edits? Not really sure, just playing Devi's Advocate.

This is why I am doing all my work on Spreadsheets. I dont plan on doing much ingame until the next patch AT THE LEAST. But a lot can be done now to prepare (hence the spreadsheets).

Wonderful news. I really hope they step up here. At the VERY LEAST they now now seem to understand how important this is to us and they seam to be making strides in the right direction.

I don't think anybody has really paid close attention to that. It very well might be both first & last names. Last year this same edit limit was there but I don't think anyone looked into both first & last names either.

It was really strange... I was working on the Rays team roster and had found Elliot Johnson... I got his first name corrected but his last name (fake player) is a Japanese name (I believe). When trying to edit the last name I got the message stating no more room to edit names on this file. Of course, I kept trying (LOL!!), but nothing.

As an aside... Is anyone else getting really frustrated by the arrogance of the Mods at the 2k forums? I've really had it with those guys. You can't ask a question without seemingly getting attacked. Anyone who knows me here would know that I give a lot back to this community (ie. NBA 2k8 rosters, MLB 2k9 rosters, NCAA BBall historic rosters) - I worked very hard on those, especially the baseball rosters for last season's game. If anyone would look (and I haven't for a long time) my rosters for MLB 2k9 were getting downloaded in the thousands - not to sound arrogant, but 2k should thank me for the time I put into them, as many wrote me and said they would have given up on the game without them.

I just feel like they don't want to listen to us and that frustrates me... We only want answers and are trying to help provide solutions. 2K Sports forum mod closed the thread we're debating about on this edit limit. Why would I expect anything different from them over there? They're scared of us expressing out feelings about this issue. They run & hide when we're making very valid points. What a shame!

I just saw that a few minutes ago. My bad... Looks like I offended that one Mod. Funny, but he cited the "Barry Bonds" player issue. What he failed to say is that Bonds WAS in the game, just under a fake name. But nobody could deny that was Barry Bonds' "image" in the game.

I've tried to be nice, but I've had it with their forums. They just pass this roster thing off as if it's no big deal, and that the "majority" of people who play this game are 8 year olds who don't care about up-to-date rosters. What a joke...

No need for apologies harsh! I'm with you all the way on this issue. There are & has been "player likeness" in this game. That's a poor excuse to get around this issue.

Barry Bonds was "Joe Young" in the past versions of this game. There certainly are fake player names matching actual real life players. They can deny this all they want.

How can they deny this bull? It's just an excuse for their not giving us the truth/answers. Don't worry harsh because we're on the exact same page about this problem with the game.
