    Tony,

What did you mean in your quote the roster limit has been partially addressed? Did they raise the limits? This sucks balls, man. I try to go through every team's rosters and create the guys that I think will make an impact this year, and I get screwed by the damn roster limit every time. Is the limit higher with the new patch? I'm so close to getting the rosters to where I want them, 50 or so more edits would do me just fine...thanks for your insight, I appreciate it.

Ronnie who is a mod over at 2K Sports stated that the edit limit looks like it can be increased in a patch. He got this directly from the 2K Sports team. There was no information about how many more could be added nor if this was a given that more could definitely be added.

He said that they didn't wanna effect game performance just by making this addition to the roster edit limit. He did say though that it appeared that at least some could be added.

He said once it got closer to patch time he would know more. I'm not holding my breath though. For me, it would need to be 200+ edits allowed or remove it all together.

BTW, has anybody been able to confirm that this issue is related directly to character spaces & not just names? This would make more sense because of the various reports of the amount of players that can be edited. It's been from 50-150 reported.

If it was a given total number of players then we would all see the same limit. However, with the various amounts reported then this would point to characters instead.

If it is characters then does the limit pertain to both first & last names or both? For instance, would it be 150 total characters for each first & last name or a combination of both? Probably nobody knows this answer. I guess the sorry support from 2K Sports doesn't even know or just don't care.

I'm curious if this about characters & not about name changes. It makes more sense to me about the character limit instead of player name changes. There's been too many various numbers out there in reports.

I guess we'll never know though unless someone from 2K Sports comes out of the woods to let us know & that's not gonna happen.

BTW, I checked my receipt from Gamestop. The only thing I seen was a 7 day exchange on the printout. Shouldn't there be something about a refund on there? I don't get a lot of games at Gamestop anymore. I usually get them at Wal-Mart nowadays. I used to solely buy from Gamestop but quit that 2-3 years ago.

There is a total character limit. This is for First names and last names.

The character limit is set to 4000 bytes.

4000 bytes doesn't sound like much space to me. I do remember someone over at 2K Sports giving this number as well. How could it not be more than 4000 bytes? This is ridiculous to limit the editing amount to this small of a size.

yep, it is pretty small. Have no idea why though.

There IS a work around though. I am currently working on 2010 Roster with all correct players in major and minor leagues and prospects.

              Re: Roster Limit Reached....

I'm just kinda peeing into the wind here, but I wonder if it has anything to do with using the names already provided vs. guys who are not available?

For example, Kevin Millar (the last name "Millar") is NOT in the list given by 2k. I wonder if those eat up a little bit more memory as opposed to all those fake players who are already loaded into the system.

Also, this idea that 2k wants us to believe that there is some sort of "legal" issue in all this: how in the world can they get away with pre-logging in all those names that "just happen" to be the names of nearly every minor league player out there? For example, Franciscley Bueno (Braves AAA pitcher) just happens to be pre-loaded into the game. You couldn't find a crazier name than that, yet it's in there. But they want us to believe that they don't know anything about how those names just happen to coincide with real players? Funny stuff...

I think Bueno has played Major league (hence why is name has made it into the game)

Every time you edit a player weather it is an existing player, fake, whatever, it is included in the edit limit. Attributed are not though.

This was my exact point made earlier. There's no way these fake player names are just lucky to have real life player matches. There is player likeness involved. I don't care what they say.

You can't get same birthdays. The same physical attributes. The same looks for the most part without that being pertained to player likeness. If they're that lucky then 2K Sports should play the lottery & forget making sports games.

There IS a work around though.
What is this work around then? Work around for what? The file size or the editing part?

i remember noticing this when doing the player names for college hoops 2k8 and seeing players with first and last names I'd never heard of included on the list, especially hyphenated last names like lucas-perry.

i liked it before, saved typing time and the announcers actually said most names. but now it kinda feels like a big tease. im sure theres a valid reason, and may have already been pointed out, but why can't they just sign a licensing deal when they're drafted. or obtain a minor league license.

Well, 2K Sports sure doesn't care to provide us with a "valid" reason. They like to beat around the bush. We still have no real answers about this issue other than attempting to "expand" the editing limit. Why can't they just tell us the facts behind this limit?

I'm fully aware of this... What I mean, is that I wonder if players PRELOADED into the game (ie. their names) use up less memory than those that are not? Now, I might be way out in left field (pardon the pun), but it does make me wonder. I'm reading reports that some are able to get more players into their game than others. This "might" be a potential reason? But I'm fully aware there is no workaround on this... I'm just throwing out a hypothetical.

Like I have explained, they do not use up less memory. You are given an allocation of characters which can be used to edit any/all names preloaded or not.

Like Mathew stated. I do believe he has a very valid point about this being pertained to character limit & not names overall. I see what you're saying harsh but with the various reports of how many edits people are seeing then this would point to that conclusion.

You know what makes me so aggravated. 2K Sports could clear all this up & make us quit guessing. They could give us answers. That's not gonna happen though.

I guess all we'll know about this problem is when it gets closer to the next patch & Ronnie comes out to let us know if the edit limit is gonna be expanded. It's sad to see but true. We can't get any real explanations.

This is exactly why I have decided to stop on my roster until they fix the edit limit. If they do patch it, will we have to start all over? You would think no, but who knows. I am not going to invest any more time right now without having the answer to that question.
