    PS3 CPU Vs. CPU Sliders

    Hi All,

Just wanted to get a thread open for us "cpu/cpu" type gamers.

Ive been tweaking for a few games last night and SEEM to be pretty good so far except for walks (almost non existent). I will post some sliders tonight when I get home but again....just wanted to get this post started.

    Thanks!

Question for you: Can you chose the camera veiw on CPU vs CPU? If you can not, what camera angle does it use? I was wonder if it displays like you are watching a real game. thanks.

Is this thread for PS3 sliders only? Or is it likely that sliders for 360 and PS3 would work the same?

          Hi Rhod,

You can change the pitch camera (behind pitcher or behind camera) and you can change the camera to either follow the fielder or not.

I personally have it set at behind pitcher and NOT to follow fielder. It definately gives you a very realistic presentation of an actual ballgame....not perfect....but then again....we have TV for those

            Hi XIA,

Not sure how much the difference in the engines would be.....but if you want....use these as a starting point and tweak away.....getting it as close to "perfect" as possible is sometimes as much fun as just sitting back and watching!

Hey JT, I'm gonna be getting the game on Friday & I like watching CPU vs CPU from time to time. Just wondering if you've managed to fix the no walks issue you described in your 1st post?
Also, can you post some of your final box scores with just the hit & run totals? I'm curious as to whether the hits to runs scored are realistic in this game. Thanx!

                  Hi Eric,

As of right now the game seems to play pretty realistic. Walks are there, hits seems good.......at this point there really isnt much that I am unhappy about( other than currently being pissed off about an issue the game has with scoring earned runs wrong).....but with more play (and some feedback) we shall see

Ill try to post up a few boxscores in the next few days.....and again....anyone who either trys these particular sliders or have some of their own PLEASE offer some feedback.

                  Thanks!

I may be a bit naive on this topic, please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but How do you play CPU vs CPU? I don't really understand how this is playing the game? Are you playing as a manager, if not what excactly are you controlling in the game?

I'd love to hear how CPU vs CPU mode works if somebody would be so kind as to explain it to me.

Once again, sorry if these are stupid questions...

Re: PS3 CPU Vs. CPU Sliders

                      PD,

Playing cpu vs. cpu (to me) is like being the general manager of a team. Having the control over trades, free agency, drafting, setting up managing/coaching (for some even living the dream of being a proffesional 3rd basemen for their favorite team).......

Then sitting back with the game control in the middle (cpu vs cpu) and watching the action unfold.

I am a big stats fan. I have played an AMAZING game called Out of the Park basbeball which is AMAZINGLY realistic when it comes to stats. The drawback of those type of games is you do get the realism satistically and all the control in the world as a GM/Manager but because they are text based, you loose (other than using your imagination) the "visuals" of the game....

Unfortunately (and I say unfortunately because it seems "stats & realism seem to always take a back seat to visuals) console games are the closest you can get to both worlds.

Could I just sit back and watch a REAL baseball gime on tv? Yup...and I am a fan of baseball so I do......BUT......I may never for example get to see David Ortiz playing on the mets after a big blockbuster deal that was made unless I have the ability to be the one making the deal~! .......And console games kinda get me there personally!

Hope this offers you abit of insight on why *I* personally enjoy the game and how it fulfiills MY idea of how I want to be entertained by it......and at the end of the day, a video game is just a form of entertainment and there really isnt a right or wrong way to use it!

                      Thanks!

Thanks for the response it helped me understand kind of what you are doing, So do you watch all of your teams games, or do you sim most and just watch the key games unfold.

Kind of like ootp but with the ability to actually watch the visuals if you want to.

Pretty cool idea in my opinion, I may start one myself since I like to play all of my games I usually only get through one season on a console baseball game. I could play one that way and the other your way which I most likely would be able to get through a bunch more seasons that way.

Thanks for the rundown man, I'll be following this thread to see when you get the sliders nailed for it...

Ok guys. I just tried these sliders on my 360 and the game went 10 innings as the Mets(me) came back and beat the cardinals 7-5.

                            PD....

With console baseball games Ive ALWAYS played CPU vs CPU and MOST times I playout each game.......tho I have ALSO just played out key games and simmed the rest.

I tend to like to play them all out for a few reasons.....(btw...I also never simmed in ootp...always played those out too).....

One reason is getting to "know" the players (i know....sounds silly....but you DO get an idea of how a player reacts even in a video game based on the ai....i mean they even have a rating for "clutch" so you begin to "see" which players are truly "clutch"....and you also have a rating on pitchers on how "stressed" they get in certain situations. I find that simming most of the games really doesnt allow me to fully get the "picture" of each player.

I also tend to be completely involved in trades, resting players, sometimes "breaking" in to the game to make a change or double switch or warming pitchers up etc... which you dont truly do when your simming (kinda like being not only a GM but also a bench coach who offers up suggestions).

Playing this way isnt for everyone.....but it is enjoyable to me (and others) and hey......enjoyability should be EVERYONES goal regardless of how they choose to play

                            Thanks!

                              MM,

The boxscore looks pretty good (if ask me)

I am a HUGE mets fans but decided to pick the Pirates this year (and the attempt to build them up to be a winner).......so I was kinda worried how the sliders will play with other "default" teams......but atleast at first glance I dont really see anyhting totally wacked out with the boxscore above (other than wondering why Glavine only lasted one inning??/)

How do you feel it played with these sliders while watching it?

                              Thanks!
