    JT Sliders - Final Version

These have worked out really well for me.. nice flow to the game. Until now, I have never seen multiple foul balls during one at bat. I have even seen foul balls straight back to the screen at least a dozen times now, both by me and the CPU.

Any questions about these slider settings, please post.

There are several sliders which have a setting range.. I indicated these with a **. Consider these min/max values based on user skill or preference.

Yes I believe so. The power swing influence slider is set at 5. If you feel you are getting too many "warning track power" type hits, bump it up to 10. If you feel you are cranking too many, reduce to 0. Remember, the power swing slider is not the same as the batter power slider

These sliders look quite good. Very close to what I have been using but I will try them and see if they make it better

For the CPU, I have seen those depending on who is batting, the better the batter, the more fouls in one at bat, in conjunction with the following: skill, contact, pitcher difficulty. The higher all 3 of those values, the higher number of fouls.

For me, because of the way I bat (contact batting, classic batting, without using the L-stick) I also foul alot with my big hitters (Glaus, Wells, Frank Thomas) with a high contact (40), low power, but mostly with the Pitcher difficulty (90) and the AI Change speed (90). With these settings I have found out you can foul balls off that are slightly off the plate by lightly-tapping or quick-swinging, this makes a big difference, you have to react slightly sooner, especially if down in the count and "tap" really quickly.

Both for CPU & Me, the fouls I tend to see or not straight back but into the crowd along the lines, or around the foul poles.

i use classic hitting as well with no L stick, when you say lightly tapping to quick swing do you sometimes get the check swing instead, as far as fouls back to the screen i've only seen those while using the swing stick.

ps: by the way kamasutra what do you have the ai skill set at?

Yes, it's almost a check swing, it's a delayed swing, with as light a press as you can to make contact at the last possible second. You have to litterally think "fighting the pitch off/staying alive" just like in real life, it's not a full on swing/power swing for the fences. As I said it greatly depends on your batter's contact rating and the sliders I mentioned.

It's hard to describe but to illustrate it, if you ever hit those singles straight down the line that drop in the mid-outfield, that's the type of swing you're going for, a late contact swing.

sounds like the kind of swing i need to be making on those down and outside curves and sliders i can't hold back on,lol, i make my whole team look like pedro feliz on a bad day , say i'd be interested in taking a look at your sliders as well seeing as i've tried everyone else's, i do have my own that i use for my own skill level but would be interseted in seeing yours.

lol. I would suggest pulling back the batting cam as well. I have mine set at 18, no zoom. You can then see the breaks much better, well that works for me, and helps the timing on the late swings. The more the break/slower the speed, the later the swing.

As for sliders I have done then from scratch with hot/cold teams off. They are very unconventional, compared to what you find here.
I prefer a more hits on both sides type game, with the maximum hit variety.

Here are my current sliders as to offense (both teams), I vary between 2 sets for human/cpu.
Human (contact to pitch diff).: 40-25-30-30-55-80 or 35-15-30-25-55-90
                      CPU (Skill, cont.,pow.,pitch dif.): 90-40-50-50 or 60-35-55-65
CPU Pitching (corner, chang spd, str ovr, str ahd, str bhd.): 60-80 (or 90)-30-50-60
                      Human Pitching Interface Speed: 100

As for fielding/defense I have everything toned down equally on both sides.
                      Some stats that I like...
Average hits depending on team (CPU): 7-14 [Same on my end.]
Avg Dives / game (CPU): 2-3
Avg HRs per team: 1-2 (sometimes none)
                      Batter K's: 6 (CPU) me (11)
                      Walks/game: 3-4 (CPU), 5-6 (me)
Last game I counted foul balls: CPU 21 total (avg 3-4 fouls per inning depending on who's pitching, what team I'm facing), me 17 total.

I will in a new thread shortly. Still tweaking (48 games played so far). I'd say another 10-15 games and I'll post.

Oh and let me appoligize right away to JT for hijacking his thread (wasn't intentional). I have tried his sliders verbatum last few games, they are excellent, especially if you have a very high powered team (Bosox, Yanks) and want to tone down the "arcadiness" of the game.

yeah maybe i need to zoom out a bit more to the 20% default setting, i keep moving it around trying to find the best for me , right now i have it set at 50% so i can just see all of home plate, i kind of like that view it doesn't seem to close as i only have pitch speed at 50, i'll keep an eye out for your slider settings, the cpu ones aren't to far off what i'm using.

Hey no apology necessary.. I like the talk about sliders.. I learn from others, so any feedback you provide in these threads is a bonus. Thanks for your input

Re: JT Sliders - Final Version

I really like these sliders as I've tried a lot lately. The games are low scoring, and I have to work for my runs.

The only thing I don't like is that it seems any pitch close to the strike zone, the cpu gets a bat on it. They never swing and miss anything. Maybe I suck at pitching. I'm not lookin for strikeouts, just to see them miss a ball every once in a while and work the count realisticallly. The way it goes now they hold on a strike, watch a ball go by then hit one. Mind you they are not getting a lot of base hits or runs, but there seems to be a lot of contact early and sometimes I only pitch 3-4 pitchs an inning and only have like 40 pitches by the eigth.. any thoughts?

3, 4 pitches an inning, that's a little extreme... Do you mean an at bat?
Try increasing AI Pitcher Difficulty anywhere from 5 to 65... I have it at 50
