Re: DanSF49's "The MLB Experience" Sliders

Okay guys I just got about 3 hours free that I didnt think I would have to do some testing. So I found out some interesting stuff. It seems to me that the Foul Ball Frequency slider effects alot more then just foul balls it seems to effect contact more then anything. Since I moved the Foul Ball slider up to 80 I have seen a big increase in stikeouts for both me and the cpu, also a decrease in Hits and HRs for both. So I brought it back down to 50 and took both Batting Skill sliders up to 25. Well guess what the game has come alive again, hits are coming and K's are going down. I only had 2 K's with Lilly of the Cubs aganist the Rockies in a 5-3 loss. So I'm pretty happy with the results of the changes, below you will find the current settings I'm using. I also made a minor change to the Corner and Change Speed sliders. Let me know how these changes work for you guys.

    Skill - 20
    Contact - 80
    Power - 25
    Foul Ball Frequency - 50
    Batting Influence - 80
    Step Influence - 80
    Pitcher Difficulty - 50

    AI Skill - 20
    AI Contact - 80
    AI Power - 15
AI Foul Ball Frequency - 50

    AI Corner - 20
    AI Change Speed - 80

Are you guys using the precision pitching or total control...I was using precision but the game was too easy...I switched to total control and now I cant allow less than 9 runs...What should I do to improve this?

Is it possible to use classic hitting and get good results with these?

Try lowering the TCP slider to around 50, so you can get used to it.

I like how these play, but I am using pitch speed of 50. In your experience, does pitch speed affect what the power slider should be set at. I'm seeing too few homeruns with these, and I am wondering if it is because I have the pitch speed at 50. Also, I am not seeing any HRs to center field, everything is down the line.

              Brandon Webb (ARZ): 5 2/3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 10 K on 97 pitches
              Joel Pineiro (STL): 6 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 K on 83 pitches

By the looks of it, you'd think I got blown out.... well, you'd be wrong.

After trailing 5-0, I finally got a run off Webb with a Rick Ankiel base hit, scoring the man on second and ultimately chasing the sinker-baller (which he used A LOT!). He had walked one in the inning and his pitch count was high (97). So then the Arizona bullpen comes in to preserve the lead. I get a run in the 7th and 8th off of them (but I had allowed two runs in the bottom of the 7th so after Pujols' 8th inning solo-HR the score was now 7-3).

Ninth inning rolls around, still 7-3.... I was patient enough to draw three walks back-to-back-to-back to begin the inning, then Skip Schumaker flies out to right. Adam Kennedy gets jammed and hits a weak popup to first base. Albert Pujols comes up, nowhere to put him, and on an 1-0 pitch I absolutely crush the pitch into left center field, clearing the basepaths and narrowing the gap to 7-6. Then on a 3-2 pitch to Ludwick, I lined it just foul down the left field line but eventually hit a weak grounder to second for the final out, but.....

Best game I've ever played and I didn't even win. Thanks a million for these sliders bro!
how did you get so many pitches thrown by the pitchers? .. sounds like the show stats haha

I can't seem to hit anything but weak bloops or infield flies and soft grounders. I'm averaging about 3 hits a game. I haven't tried the most recent sliders because they seem to make the game even more difficult(I'm using the set from page 2). What should I do?

You could either turn the pitch speed down, or turn down step influence.

Alright guys this will probably be my last update for MLB2K8 sliders this year. Since NCAA Football comes out in less then a month and I will be working on those Team Sliders. Enjoy.

I started these from the All-Star difficulty level, but I dont think it makes a difference.

Fielding Camera is Pole with Keep Fielder in View turned OFF.

Batting is Wide and the Zoom is 15 clicks from the left.

Are you adjusting settings based on the new roster.

I played with the sliders at the halfway point on Legend and I had a 14 inning tie. I couldn't finish the rest of it.

Looks like Dan went to the other side.

I would consider that as well, but with three kids with a lot of games, that is hard to replace.

Maybe when the kids are out of the house.(9 more years)

I hear that man I have a wife and a son. The only reason I was able to do this was I got $260 from gamestop for all of my 360 stuff and then I sold my blu-ray player and all my HD-DVDs to a guy at work for $300. So I ended up having more then enough to buy the Playstation 3 40g which was $400.
