Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Alright so I played a couple games and it doesn't seem like I'm seeing enough balls from the CPU. If they did throw a ball however it would just miss and it would hit the same location over and over. BFJ any suggestions on how I could get the CPU to throw a few more balls? Also I'd like to see a couple mistake pitches once in a while and not just pitches that nail the outside or inside corner all the time. Hopefully this will give me a few more walks and some doubles, triples, etc. Any help would be great.

Sounds like it is turning into "Fat" Wednesday around here

It sounds like general consensus is that offense is lacking and we want the home run trot occasionally. The last page in particular has several good suggestions that I am going to try tonight and will post results tomorrow.

I too would like to see fat pitch over the plate occasionally. Pretty hypocritical considering that I always want to paint the corners!

For more balls from the AI, lower the Strike Zone Tendencies. For more balls in the Zone up the AI Pitch Zone Slider

Alright thanks! I really appreciate all of your help. In the games yesterday that I played it seemed like my offense was ok with hard hit balls they were just all singles.

I moved the human success to 65, contact at 20 and power to 100 and am now hitting for power. I may be getting a few too many hits so I am going to maybe knock the success down a bit.

The thing I like about this year's 2K is that in order to hit a home run you REALLY have to time your swing correctly and also use the left analog swing in the correct direction in relation to the pitch location. Everything has to go "just right" in order to hit a homer. Sort of like real life. In year's past it was too easy to jack out homers.

I use classic hitting, by the way.

Well i finally got a full game in with the opening day sliders, here is how it went,

I was colorado, jimenez pitching against the dogers and kurodo, jimenez went 6 1/3 giving up 5 hits 4 k's no walks and 1 er, 87 pitch count, I managed 13 hits with 5 runs, 9 singles, two solo HR's (by atkins) and two triples (that did not score), I ended up winning 5-2, stupid throwing error in the 9th by me,

Overall i am extremely satisfied with these sliders, now i just need the updated rosters to come out so i can get my franchise going, oh yeah i also threw out the CPU twice

Joe, may've finally found the perfect combo, thanks to your WONDERFUL suggestions to everyone's problems, which I found to experience also.

Just played game 2 of my season (NYY) vs. Baltimore, after a 2-0 game 1 win, I needed more hitting.

I scored 10 runs on 15 hits (high, I know): 7 singles, 5 doubles, 3 HR (my CAP, Cano, and Tex hit the HR).

                AJ Burnett: 9IP, 8H, 2ER (2 solo HR), 9 K's!!! (89 pitches)
Baltimore threw 86 pitches to me.

USER HITTING SLIDERS: Success 60, Contact 50, Power 70
CPU HITTING SLIDERS: Success 65, Contact 15, Power 80

I also used the Gesture recognition/Hold timing at 60/40 like you suggested. Perhaps A BIT too easy to pinpoint pitches, but I found the original set (70/30) was slightly more difficult than I'd like (ESP. with Sabathia pitching...).

The final score was 10-2, but that's a bit misleading, for it was 3-2 going into the 7th, I scored 5 in the 8th, and 1 in the 9th.

Things that may be suspect: Perhaps a bit too many hits, but I do have the Yankees, so a great lineup, and I was playing Baltimore, with bad pitching.

Also I've thrown 2 CG's with Burnett and C.C., perhaps because of the low pitch count, or should I maybe go down to 40 on fatigue?
                Thoughts?

Hey, just curious what your user batting pitching influence is at for these results? My guess is maybe lower the success a bit for less hits?

Also, I am thinking about lowering the fatigue to 40 as well. I went CG with Santana with 10k's and 7 hits so he probably should have been more worn out.

Lowering the fatigue slider will make your pitcher last longer.

is that correct? I have always thought lowering it fatigued him quicker? Anybody confirm that lowering this number increases stamina?

Swing stick, and I very rarely use the L (directional) stick, unless sitting on a FB trying to hit a HR or sac fly to the OF.

Yes. I had my stamina at 50 and lasted about 70-75 pitches with Beckett. I lowered it to 45 and lasted about 90-95 pitches with Beckett.
