    mkharsh33's sliders

I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring as well...here are the sliders that I've been tinkering with:

    <table style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 193pt;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="257"><tbody><tr style="height: 15pt;" height="20"><td class="xl64" style="border-top: medium none; height: 15pt;" height="20">Pitcher Fatigue</td> <td class="xl66" style="border-top: medium none; border-left: medium none;">40</td> </tr> <tr style="height: 15pt;" height="20"> <td class="xl64" style="border-top: medium none; height: 15pt;" height="20">

UPDATED yet again (8-12-09) - Close to giving up... couldn't hit a home run to save my life...there is a HUGE difference from 90 to 100, but i'm gonna roll with this and see what happens. Don't mock the user contact at "0" - trust me, you'll still hit the ball (I did so as the reds to the tune of 13 hits against the Cards). But if this set doesn't do it for me, I'm officially retiring this game... And as stated earlier, Madden is arriving (and I read a review that had a very positive take on the new Madden game!). Thanks for putting up with these ramblings...

Your feedback is appreciated from your experiences. These might not be for everyone, but I'm enjoying them and have tested them extensively.

    Re: mkharsh33's sliders

    made two changes...

upped user batting contact to 20 (from 10). at 10 i was making contact, but the problem is nothing was falling. part of my disdain for this game is that balls in the gap get run down by outfielders, even those of questionable speed. i'm hoping that at 20 some of those might actually drop for base hits. in my test samples (3 games) i was able to hit a couple home runs and am now putting some balls off the wall - when i had power at 70 i NEVER hit any off the wall. so i believe there is a big difference between 70 and 80, and believe 80 should be used.

also, lowered cpu batting contact to 40 (from 50). this might not be for everyone, but i have made my user pitching settings a little more difficult than others. i purposely want pitching to be a bit of a struggle...to compensate for that, however, i need to lower the contact as i was getting shelled. i don't want pitching to get easier - i like the idea of missing my spots. but i was getting shelled and the AI was just raking me. i'm going to keep playing with this slider, but i want to see if 40 is the way to go.

QUESTION: is anyone else noticing that balls that should be "routine" double plays get beat out at first a LOT? i have considered raising my fielders speed, but none of the other sliders i've seen here have it above 60...i was thinking 65, but wasn't sure what any of you guys were seeing on those grounders. i realize that NOT every ground ball is a double-play ball. but i've had them hit directly to short or right at 2B and it takes forever for the ball to get thrown.

    back to the lab...

i'm going to use these and see how they are. i'm tired of playing games where both teams get over 20 plus hits. I play on legend by the way

        Harsh,

Thanks for posting. FWIW, I used your sliders for as the Yankees in Boston (Sabathia vs. Beckett). Through 4 1/2 inning Boston leads 5-3. 19 hits in the game ALL singles. 1 ball was hit to the warning track.

        Increase Power?

i've actually made some changes to those...i have a set i uploaded in 2kshare that are a little different from these.

i changed user hit success to 50...user contact to 20...user power to 75.

but grab the ones i uploaded and give them a try...

              Re: mkharsh33's sliders

The sliders I'm using are very, very close to this and I'm seeing some decent games. The only minor negative is that every game seems to turn into a shootout with massive amounts of hits on both sides of the ball. I'm going to keep playing and hope this is just a brief trend.

Does turning down human contact appear to tame your hitting power a lot?

swing stick...and turn off all strike zone helps (both batting and pitching).

also, i'll be posting a new set here tonight...a few more changes that i LOVE. i know they're a bit different from others, but by toning down some of the speed it's become a better game.

but off the top of my head (i'm at work now) i believe the user batting are 50 (success) 10 (contact) 90 (power)... and for the CPU it's 50 (success) 20 (contact) 90 (power). looks strange, but by lowering success and upping power it has changed the game.

i've looked at brazzen's excel file comparisons and no one has batting succes lower than 60 (i think). it's just too high, IMO. also, i've upped CPU pitching success to 70 (again, no one else has done this). but I'll post them tonight.

updated the first post today (8-4). ** = updated from previous version.

i turn off all pitching and batting strike zone helps...i also do not use the IE. swing stick and also use directional hitting. i also don't change the camera from the defaults either.

                    Re: mkharsh33's sliders

Great sliders dude. I played one game with them today and was very impressed. I was worried setting contact so low would remove HR's from the game but I scored 3.

The only changes I've made is to set gesture recognition to 50. I'm playing on PS3 and the controller's spongy sticks are really not suitable for this game. I found it 10 times easier last year on 360. (But they had to go and region lock this year's game) I might try and raise it a little bit at a time but its frustrating to not have the feedback system from 2K8 so it feels comfortable enough for now.

Other than that, these feel almost perfect to me but I would still like to see a little less offense from both the CPU and the user so I'm going to experiment with the pitcher composure slider tonight.

Thanks again for your sliders and your advice with this game. Its been a total suprise to find myself enjoying it so much in the last two weeks. I thought it was a lost cause but its really not at all. If VC focuses on the right areas then 2K10 could be a brilliant representation of the sport.

                      Re: mkharsh33's sliders

just played a fun game... exhibition: texas (me) vs. oakland (CPU).

                      today's matchup: padilla vs. braden

                      i lost 4-3 in 12 innings.

was up 3-1 and Francisco blew up, giving up 2 runs and a blown save.

no homers hit...i had 1 double, and the CPU had 2 doubles. i trailed 1-0 after 4 innings, and then scored runs in the 6th-7th-8th innings.

i brought in nippert to pitch the 12th...he gave up a double and a single...i walked the bases loaded intentionally and brought in feliz. he struck out the first batter faced, but then the A's laid out the squeeze on me and i missed it by a split second.

i collected 12 hits and the CPU got 11. i struck out 5 batters and the CPU struck me out 8 times. quite fun, even in the loss...

                          updated the first post.

using these sliders i lost 9-8 as the rays (me) vs. mariners (cpu)...blew a 4 run 9th inning lead...regained the lead in the 10th and then lost by a run. hits were 16-13 rays, with a homer, 3 doubles (2 by pena, a bases clearing shot in the gap), and a triple (upton) for me.

i lost 6-2 as the indians (me) vs. white sox (cpu)...trailed 1-0 into the 5th. shoppach hit a 2-run homer to take a 2-1 lead. the sox were just too much for my bullpen as i gave up a 2-run homer to konerko, as well as a few scattered hits that did me in late in the game. hits were chicago, 12-6. peralta also hit a double for me.

                            made another change...

the pitcher composure at 100 has cost me yet ANOTHER save...i checked my games played stats (overall) and i've converted 9 of 32 save opportunities...obviously i just can't keep the pitcher composure at 100. i'm going to bump it down to 80 and see what that does.

sorry for these endless posts...i feel like i'm close, yet so far away.

                              Re: mkharsh33's sliders

a huge problem in this game is that the closers have AWFUL pitch type ratings. i've seen many of them with pitch ratings in the 60's. so even though in my roster update i made them better in other areas, they still pitch terrible. i'm hopeful that this latest change will work (user pitch composure at 80).

i actually shut the game off i was playing i got so pissed. i was pitching as halladay vs. matusz (balt.). i was up 3-2 in the 9th and then gave up the lead (brought in frasor to close). i know that common sense says to just let halladay finish it off, but i wanted to experiment with the composure thing. after another blown save, i'd had enough. i want a challenge, but this is ridiculous...

also, i'm not hitting many homers, but i only (to this point) have played EXHIBITION mode games. are you guys using the left directional stick much or not (because i do and i think that might be part of the problem). i have power at 90 and just don't hit homers. but i don't want to raise success or contact any because i'm tired of seeing those 19 hit / 2 run games (singles fest).

                              thanks for any feedback!
