    Re: 100 Pitch Speed

oh, and if you were running w/ 50 baserunning speed, it confirms my own growing belief that that is just too high and needs to come down to at least 45.

and one more thing, you need to work on your baserunning There were a couple times where you advanced all runners when you should have just been advancing the lead runner (one time in particular comes to mind, a single w/ Tulo, you try to score the guy from 2nd by advancing everyone an extra base, and Tulo ends up reaching 2nd way too easy). With a decreased baserunner speed, a move like that (which I have been guilty of many times too lol) should come back to bite you. No reason Tulo should be able to reach 2nd before the throw gets in there on a routine single.

Lowered the CPU contact to 65, lowerd the pitch meter speed to 40, raised the pitch movement slider to 60 and not the K issue seems better while still keeping the foul ball numbers decent.

I'm going to lower the meter even more and increase pitcher fatigue.

I'm also going to lower the pitch speed as I had 17 hits in a game last night and only two were XBH. CPU XBH is perfect it seems. When I look at my hit charts I'm tardy on everything so I'm opposite field guy with my hit distribution.

So far, I like those batting sliders(90 contact & 50 power). I'm seeing a lot more foul balls, I'm striking out less and is it just me or does swinging and making contact have a heavier feel to it?

I finally scored my first run since getting the game and even hit my first HR(with Reggie Jackson off of Jered Weaver). I still got my butt whooped though.

I usually like a high pitch speed, was at 85 or 90 for a while, but ended up with too many pop ups and fly outs.

pitch speed should have no effect on the number of pop outs/fly outs. That is tied to the power slider and the cpu pitchers effectiveness.

now granted, if your timing was poor you may get a TINY bit more, but in that case, you'd be experiencing a lot more swings and misses too (which would be the bigger complaint probably). And combining poor timing with the power swing would compound the issue of popups... Of course, that is not a slider issue, but a skill issue (and one that you'd undoubtedly improve upon the more you played).

All other things equal though, simply increasing the pitch speed will not increase your flyout/popup rate. It may throw off your timing, but if you stick with it you will get it down.

Appreciate your input, but i'm using classic hitting which does not come down to a power swing choice. Also, I've been playing the game for five years on 360 so I know how to time a swing. Maybe I'm getting old though? lol

haha, I'm not saying you don't. I was just saying that if thats the case, then pitch speed should have no barring on the amount of hit variation. Those popups were either just a product of bad luck, or some other slider combination, because increased pitch speed alone would not do it.

With the power at 50 I'm just not liking the quality of hits. I'm pretty happy with the foul balls but the lack of quality hits from both CPU and HUM is concerning.

I haven't gotten much time to play in the last couple days, only got to do a very quick test of the pitch break slider last night (nothing extensive), and nothing immediately stood out to me. Yes the pitches break more on 100 vs 0 (obviously... although I must say the difference wasn't as drastic as I was expecting), but I'm not entirely sure how it effects gameplay yet. There was no obvious difference in the outcome of plays with the slider at the two extremes.

I will have to do more extensive testing tonight, to see if I can come up with some quantifiable difference.

Have you tried contact at 0 and power on 100? I'm just curious what it looks like.

contact at 0 could possibly be interesting for human sliders if you have really good timing, I haven't tested it on the human side too much (although it may just result in too many swings and misses even if you have perfect timing). However, with the computer, it is just way too easy to make them swing and miss. That is where you start getting them into the territory of missing the ball practically every other time they swing the bat.

Could you potentially get realistic hit types and end of game results, sure, but like I said in one of my first posts, there are a lot of different ways to get to the same end point, and that is not one I'm interested in...

my goal is realistic swing/contact/foul rates in an attempt to create realistic results... it may not be for everyone, and I have no doubt there are plenty of other ways people can have fun with this game and get realistic scores, but that is my goal with my slider testing.

So in that regard, 0 contact (or anything close to that) is just not realistic for me

RD - could you list out what modifications are needed to the sliders from what I have in teh video?

For some reason I can't view previous pages right now.

I finally am getting somewhere after lots of frustration with these sliders. I think by next week I'll have something to share.

                              Hi.

Could Please share the cpu contact and power and the metter speed you are getting ? ?

I'm sure for the user 35/70 for contact and power are nice

But with the Cpu i'm struggling.

With metter Speed Around 60, i think 55-60/70 for contact and power for the cpu its where i'm getting some good results...

                              Thank You
