Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Had another great game. It was a MLB today spring training game, so that explains the numerous pitchers. What I liked most was that I hit two home runs without using the L-Stick to aim. I think the power slider is perfect and should be locked down for good!

No. They're for total control pitching.

Will the sliders affect pitch location? It seem to me that pushing the one button in classic mode is a macro for the gestures in TCP

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I have edited some teams for my pc roster and tested it with your slider set. Since it seems to work really fine I will recommend to use your slider set with my roster and state that in the readme-file.

After having edited some ratings it seems that the realism factor has gone way up.

Some test games (* = played by me):
            Code:
                      R H E
            Milwaukee 7 13 0
            Houston* 2 5 2
            L: Norris, W: Greinke

                       R H E
            LA Dodgers 3 6 1
            Colorado* 5 10 0
            L: Lilly, W: Chacin, S: Betancourt
I have seen everything. Homeruns by Tulowitzki or Kemp, triples and doubles by Gonzalez, Ryan Brown or Dee Gordon, strikeouts, walks, errors, stolen bases. Even strike-percentage and number of pitches seem to work out really well.

depending on how well you can time the button presses you might have to lower pitch control a little. its been a while but iirc the first button press/hold in pitching is power/effectiveness and the second one is control so if you notice alot better control with the classic then bump it down 1.

to me i can control classic pitching SO much better than analog (damn these long thumbs) so i tend to prefer analog more, but all in all its just preference. these sliders are made with the intent that its classic hitting/analog pitching so if you play different you might need to make some tweaks.

One thing for sure. If one uses the autorun feature you don't want a H&R rate of 85. The Mike Napoli's and Mitch Moreland's of the world will be trying to steal all the time.

Do most people aim there hits with the L stick or leave it in the neutral position?

I've mentioned this a few times. It seems that using the L-Stick and aiming "up" seems to generate a lot of extra bat power. Players with lower power ratings (50's and 60's) seem to hit more home runs using L-Stick aiming. It's not a money play and if you don't get the right pitch you're gonna hit a lot of pop ups, but think of it as the "power swing" of classic hitting.

                      Another fine game:
                      Code:
                                 R H E
                      Milwaukee* 10 15 1
                      San Diego 2 5 0
                      L: Stauffer, W: Gallardo
                      Player of the Game: Rickie Weeks, 2 R, 2 H, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB
Seems like i figured it out. I hit a homerun with Lucroy of Stauffer without aiming with the L-stick. He only has a 58 power rating.

I will try that and see what happens. Also when I didn't mess with the L stick most of my hits were right up the middle or into left or right centerfield. Basically no hits down the lines.

And you're using 55 power? I've gone about 10 games without a home run at 55 power.

I have seen 2 HR's, both from Adrian Beltre. As the Rangers I would expect Hamilton or Kinsler or Cruz or Napoli to hit some but they aren't getting close. I can't even get any hard smashes from them. They are pretty much hitting weak singles.

I'm just curious about this. Do players not perform as well in spring training as they will in the real season? It just seems no matter what I set the sliders at, even jacking power up to 80 or so, the players don't hit any harder or weaker than always.

I just had my best pitching performance with these Sliders. Mets (me) vs Braves (cpu), 2 to 0 win. Dillon Gee pitched a 4 hit, CG Shutout. I struck out 11 times and have a hard time picking the pitch up out of the pitchers hand. I had 3 singles, 1 double and 1 walk. The Braves had Delgado pitching. I need some help with hitting on these sliders. Should I move the cpu pitch speed down to 70? These sliders play great but I just can't get the hang of classic hitting.
                              PS3, we had a good run! (7/18/09-10/5/14)

Yes, 55 power. The first games I got no homer either.

But I was used to analog hitting. No I am learning classic hitting and there timing is everything.

If you simply don't hit any homers @55 I would suggest to simply bump power up by 5. With a 60 slider I bet you homer.
