You want the truth? It's because you are bad at the pitching. If you're motion is off, the result is normally pretty random. Practice. You'll get better. Or raise control. Or just whine about it. Most people have no trouble. Last year, I had to use 35 to start, and by the end of the year, I was down to the slider mk posted. This year, I'm using the 20, and having no trouble, aside from having difficulty with curveballs and sinkers because I'm off with the motion. When he had it at 15, I wasn't having too much trouble, either.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
go to settings and turn pitch analyzer on for every pitch. then see if you are ending in the zone every time. i know ive been playing 2k baseball for years now and i dont do that. the zone where you end the motion starts off at a decent size (the size you always see when you pick the pitch) but when you start the throwing motion, the more "power" you give the pitch the smaller the zone gets. lowering the pitching control slider also shrinks the size of the ending zone all around so its even smaller.
next is what pitcher are you using? cliff lee for example, has a 98 control rating iirc, and good control on his 4 seam fastball. if i am at the bottom of corner of the strike zone and throw it 10 times, odds are ill get 10 slightly different spots. they should all be generally close but its impossible to hit the exact same spot over and over again. even in real life a pitcher being able to get 90+ velocity on a pitch and keeping it in the area of where you want it, then you are considered to have good control.
if i use someone like joe blanton who has around a 60 control (58 iirc?) isn't as blessed with his command. with a pitcher like this i usually cant throw every pitch at full power, or if i do i have to stop aiming at corner and start giving pitches a general area (inside, outside, high, low, etc) since he has such poor control i figure it to be pretty in-line with him realistically.
i was actually thinking about dialing control back down to 15, as i don't give up many walks, but i might just have to start wasting more pitches as i dont wanna miss in the zone too much.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I am playing a game with mk's sliders(I tweaked them to my liking) with the Phillies(My starting pitcher is Aaron Crow[I got him from the Royals by trading him Worley]) against the D-backs(Pitcher is Trevor Cahill). It is only the bottom of the 3rd... First inning the D-backs had 5 hits and scored 5 runs.. 2 Triples, 2 doubles. The triples were my fault. The stupid auto fielder switch killed me. A ball hit right up the middle that I tried to switch to Rollins and dive for it(woulda had it too.) but it switched me to the CF as soon as I dove and the ball rolled right by him. Happened twice, no biggie. I had to take him out in the first. Put Kyle Kendrick in. He gave up 1 run the next inning. Top of the 3rd. I had 2 guys on base(first and third. 1 out. Stole second base[no throw]). And hit a double with Pence and scored 2 and another single to score again. Got 3 runs. Now I am trailing 3-6. I have 5 hits, the D-backs have 8. Kinda embarrassing considering it was Crow's first game as a Phillie and he didn't last an inning. In-fact, I only kept him in for 0.1 innings.. poor kid.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
See page 1 - post 1 for what I deem to be my "final" set (pre-patch, should one be forthcoming). Thursday, April 12 at 7:15 pm.
again, these are a base... tweak to fit your needs. from last set I only did 2 things: lowered user pitcher control to 15 (from 20) and raised cpu base running speed to 55 (from 50).
Before these tweaks I just threw a complete game shutout of today's matchup of seattle (cpu) at texas (me). I won 6-0 as Holland threw a complete game 4-hit shutout, striking out 8. I chased out in the 3rd inning - he gave up 9 hits and 6 runs, the big blast a 3 run homer to Beltre. If anyone thinks the pitching mechanics are flawed with these sliders it's simply that they don't know how to pitch with them. But this will stand as I'm NOT tweaking anymore based on feedback. After 3 more test games I feel very good about these...
User strikeouts are not perfect, but after more tweaking there's not much that can be done. the only thing I can see doing is raising the cpu pitch break influence really high, but also raising AI strike zone tendency for the cpu as well, but I really don't want to play around with this (unless any of you would like to test some games and give us some feedback on your research).STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
So okay, I gave your sliders another test shot. Only changes were user contact @35, user control @20 and AI steal aggression @30.
Those were the games:
LAD @ CIN (me)
6-9
SPs: Billingsley - Cueto
It started off difficult als Cueto hadn't found his control and walked Kemp after Gordons single and Ellis' flyout. Ethier singled and the bases were loaded in 1st, but Cueto came out allowing only one run. Had they crushed here, the game could have gone another direction.
In the 4th I hit back to back homers with Rolen (2 run homer) and Heisey and scored one more run. They pulled off Billingsley and brought in Elbert for relief.
In the 7th they first scored 2 times off Cueto, so I pulled him off for Bill Bray, who allowed nothing. After that I scored a 3 run homer with Drew Stubbs and scored two more runs. They pulled off Elbert and brought in Jansen.
Jansen struck me out a few times and I wasn't able to do anything, which didn't really matter since I was 9-2 leading into the 9th.
I brought in Arredondo who walked Kemp and Ethier. After that he struck out Rivera and Loney, before Uribe made a 3 run homer. Then he struggled quite a bit, but with only one more allowed run the win was safe.
PIT (ME) @ ARZ 3-4
Bedard and Kennedy were starting for PIT and ARZ.
Both lineups had difficulties to hit, a completely different game than the first. But only until the 3rd inning, where first Upton trippled and Young brought him home with double. Then Montero singled, bringing home Young. After that it cooled down until the 5th inning, where McGehee and Barajas hit back to back homers of Kennedy to make score 2-3. Two innings later PIT was able to draw even as Presley homered a solo shot into right field. In the same inning ARZ brought back the lead another time as they were able to score Roberts on a sac fly by Hill. Nothing happened until the 9th, where JJ Putz saved the game for ARZ. Garreth Jones was nearly doing a soloshot into right field but Upton jumped and made a catch at the wall ending the game.
COL @ CHC (me) 3-7
Dempster awaited Guthrie, who started for Colorado. And he had no fun starting for the Rockies, as he gave up hits to the first 6 hitters in the lineup, allowing 5 ER. Then he was pulled off for Esmil Rogers, who shut the inning down with no more runs. Dempster started strong for CHC although he allowed back to back walks, but no hits, to start the game 5-0 for the Cubs.
In the 2nd inning CHC scored two more times on 5 more hits, so it was 7-0 after two with 11 hits for the Cubs and 0 for the Rockies.
The first hit for the Rockies came in the 5th, where they finally scored their first run also. The Cubs weren't able to hit anything off Rogers, who was pulled for Belisle in the 7th. Dempster lasted 8 innings, allowing only one more run, so the game went 7-2 into the 9th, where Shawn Camp came in for Ryan Dempster, who had a strong evening. Camp allowed a solo shot of Cuddyer at the first at bat, but no more hits the next 3 ABs, so the game went down 7-3 for the Cubs, while the Cubs had only 4 more hits after the 11 hits in the first 2 innings.
All in all your sliders seem to work EXTREMELY well with my edited rosters. After setting the user pitch speed to 60 I see really everything. Groundouts, flyouts, strikeouts, walks, homers, doubles, triples, singles, sac flies, bunts, steals, well...I finally see baseball!
It is so beautiful to see that the "same" shot produces a double or a triple - simply depending on how fast the baserunner is.
It is also very surprising how different the games process. See that with Guthrie or the other games. Every game has its own story.
The only thing which is a little bit high are homeruns by now, perhaps I draw finally contact down to 30 since I noticed that batting power not only depends on the power slider but is also influenced by the contact slider.
But it is very positive that I can hit with nearly everyone. So I will show you the power numbers for the batters with which I scored homeruns:
Rolen 66 power vs RHP (Billingsley)
Heisey 79 power vs RHP (Billingsley)
Stubbs 72 power vs LHP (Elbert)
McGehee 63 power vs RHP (Kennedy)
Barajas 85 power vs RHP (Kennedy)
Presley 57 power vs RHP (Shaw)

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
For fun last night I played a game with 2 AAA teams (Nats AAA team at Indians AAA team - I was the Clippers). I lost 5-1. The funny part: Slowey started for me and did NOT make it out of the first inning. I had pitch control at 15 and cpu batting power at 95 - which is what I'm going to personally use for my slider set once I start my fantasy league dynasty. All 5 runs by Syracuse were scored in the first third of the first inning!!!
Slowey gave up 5 hits and walked in 3 runs before I pulled the plug on him. I started to wonder if I had went too extreme with my sliders. BUT, I brought in Hector Ambriz who went 6.2 innings, giving up ONLY 6 hits and no runs, walking . Hagadone then came in for the last 2 innings and gave up no hits, striking out 1.
I had my chances but couldn't get the big hit. I got a HR by Ryan Spilborghs - and the cool thing is that he has a 54 (I think) overall batting power.
Even though I lost (which I don't mind) it was really fun to play a different kind of game. I wanted to get Slowey through it, but his 2 seamer couldn't be located, and I had already used up my timeouts.
I don't have my 360 on at the moment, but I'm going to post what are my "final" set that I AM USING - you can tweak to fit your needs, but I'm personally using 15 user pitch control (to give me more walks - at 20 I NEVER walk a batter) and the cpu batting power is at 95, which REALLY makes you think about whom to pitch to.
In the AAA game I played the cpu had 11 hits and I had 6 hits, including the solo HR. I struck out 5 times (Maya was the cpu pitcher for Syracuse). I'm actually looking forward to playing more AAA games and I'm using the www.milb.com website for scores (using my rosters, I have MANY AAA players that I continue to add).STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Page 1 - Post 1 Updated... Set below is what I'm now rolling with. Will no longer make any changes, so any newly needed updates you are asked to tweak to fit your own needs. This will be a "final" PRE-patch (provided one will be forthcoming) set. Thanks for all the feedback and hope you enjoy the variations they provide! Appreciate the input...

NOTE: Begin inputting your sliders from ALL-STAR difficulty. Not sure what difference it makes, but last year we noted this did have some influence on the game. Used last year's set as a base, but with MANY important changes.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Did someone start imputing the sliders from the legend ? I think that makes difference... I was palying Indians x Royals Both Pitchers around 72 i was just batting... Man they were throwing strikes.. a lot 0-2 counts.. some strikeouts with 0-3 looking...Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Again, I'm not seeing these 0-2 counts...In my last game I was tracking this for purposes of the 40/45 strike zone possibility and I saw only THREE 0-2 counts in the first FIFTEEN outs the cpu recorded. Not an issue. but please note that some games will be different. Again, I think you're making a ONE GAME assessment of things... These sliders are fine...STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

The directions I've posted have stated clearly that you need to begin with your settings at ALL-STAR and THEN start inputting the numbers. Many felt last year that this made a difference, most notably in the amount of line drives.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
First game with the new set and i got shelled. Played as the Bravos against the Brewers and Jurrjens got whacked for 6 ER in 2 innings, final was 13-5 loss. I believe it was a fluke as your sliders have given me fantastic games. Just like Clubs have bad nights, I had mine, I could not locate the 2-seam or 4-seam fastball and as a result left good pitches over the plate. So i will keep you posted on some scoresXbox One: Up and Coming

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Played another game imputing sliders form legend.. Wow what a game... seems like the game was patched.. I play on pc, i don't know if this was a bug, but before.. when you reached the first base, the first baseman never stayed on base so the pitcher could throw to him, to avoid the steal... and now.. i dont know if it's a coincidence, but now he is there.... and the gameplay much improved... other than the fielding and baserunning set form MK i played Hum 40/50 and cpu 65/75... Pitching i had 25 control.. So let's test some and see if there is really difference begining inputting from the legend...Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
From what I understood last year when I talked to someone on OS who talked to someone from 2k that it didn't matter what level you inputted your sliders from. Idk if it is the same this year, but last year in blazzens forum we proved this had no impact.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Okay guys... I've settled in on some things (page 1 - post 1 ... Saturday, April 14th, 12:45 pm). I've given options as well. I feel bad for this back-and-forth stuff, but that's the process of testing. I don't want anyone to be frustrated, but for people to have a "challenging, enjoying experience" while playing. If it's not fun, then why play, right?
So give them a look... I've decided to go with user batting contact at 35 and user batting power at 55. You may also use the 30/60 combination. I've also lowered cpu batting power to 90 (instead of 95). Again, I wish we had the other numerical values, but as it's said, you can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one gets filled first.
So enjoy them, and tweak to fit your style and personal enjoyment. Thanks! mike
(I also want to thank the other slider creators for their threads...I follow EACH of them. I also appreciate the constructive feedback. Yeah, no one wants "their baby" being torn apart at times, but without that kind of feedback we might not see some areas that need fixed.)STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS
