    Re: Official Slider Discussion

Interesting post I saw from fatpitcher on another forum...

"There are actually descriptions of what each one [slider] does in a little box at the bottom of the page. I think these should be enough to go on.

What may be confusing is how the sliders and difficulty interact. There are a few sliders that adjust invisibly with difficulty when custom sliders are off. CPU Hitting, for example is something like 25, 40, 60, 80 for Rookie, Pro, All-Star, and Legend respectively. If you turn Custom Sliders on, none of those invisible slider changes are in effect anymore. So The CPU hitting ability would be the same in Rookie and Legend. I'll try to get a list of sliders that are "overwritten" when you turn custom sliders on, as well a table of what difficulties correspond to what values. "

      Playing All-Star Level

For me, not much tweaking was needed.

I lowered CPU power to 45 and contact to 48.

I lowered human power to 43. It seems to me that this doesn't actually take away "power" but rather reduces the "sweet spot" size for hitting homeruns. I'm glad it's like this because before I changed it I was hitting homeruns on swings at bad pitches that shouldn't have gone anywhere, and lots of them. Now after changing the slider if I swing down the middle and that pitch is not down the middle, it's going to bounce off the bat relative to where I hit it, it really makes me work.

I also moved variable pitching to 55, my pitches are less "spot-on" now.

I think pitchers may tire too quickly or it's me using the effort meter too much. I wouldn't mind changing the fatique rate but I don't know how the slider works.

Correct. And this is a big reason why the sliders confuse people in every Sega Sports game. NHL drove everyone insane because of this kinda thing.

I think you may be wrong about how adjusting the sliders will take the game off of "All-Star" level. I know this was the case in ESPN Football but look at the difficulty level after you change the sliders, it does not say "Custom", it still says "All-Star", that is why I think they ask you if you want to enable "Custom" sliders. I don't think it does anything to the overall difficulty level like in past games. I think this is a good thing, more like how Madden sliders work now.
