They are for talking about video games.. the information you are passing along has nothing to do with "playing" a game. No one was defrauded. Like Fossen said, the game works.. just not the way you want it to.

Can anyone can possibly argue that the progression problem isn't an issue?

Then why would anyone be defending EA on this issue?

I paid for a game that I expected (as has been stated by the reviewers/mods @ OS also) to get the progression correct......and its obviously NOT correct. I don't feel that EA purposely attempted to defraud anyone, they simply didn't produce a quality product. That is why I'm upset &amp; that's why I'll file a complaint with the BBB.

Whoever said that its insane to file a complaint obviously doesn't expect much for their money. I do expect a quality product &amp; won't settle for less. Unless someone complains EA will continue to produce shoddy products.

In my mind this game is lacking in many aspects. That's my right as a consumer to hold that opinion. Its also my right to complain about it. This isn't a communist country run by furor himself, Mr. EA.

And I'm not worried about them only having exhibition mode (as someone mentioned), if they want to compete with the other companies they have no choice but to come correct.

I am the Manager of one of the largest Clearing Houses in the country. If you're not familiar with what that means, we clear about 6,000,000 rebates per year for some of the biggest retailers in the world. As you can imagine, a lot of people do not qualify for their rebates. As you can imagine, a lot of these people get pissed off and contact the BBB.

Do you know what we are required to do with letters from the BBB?

We respond to them with a form letter and they go away.

My company is probably 1/100th the size of EA. But the routine is still the same.

If you feel cheated by EA Sports. The BBB is not your answer. Posting here is not your answer. Hit THEIR BOARD! Don't buy Madden! Don't buy Live! The BBB will not help you in this matter (regardless of whether or not you have a case - which my opinion is neither here nor there).

Thats some good info except that someone has posted the data on another forum and the amount of EA related BBB complaints is startlingly few. Maybe this is why you see such indiffernce in the response. However, if the complaints were to mushroom (and justifiably so) it might draw attention to a problem. As it is, based on the nonfeedback people are getting from customer support, we have no way of knowing if they are aware of the extent of the problem.

What you need to understand though is that EA likely outsources their Customer Service like most large companies do. Therefore, a complaint about the quality of customer service would not be applied to EA, but to "Joe's Customer Service For Hire" or whatever company they use. That's why I reiterate the fact that you need to go to the source....EA.

You could argue technically, that EA has delivered what they promised. At some point companies like EA have to be held accountable for turning out games like this. It's people's right to push them on it.

you're right, people have the right to complain about a game to EA. I just find it highly comical that people think that the BBB is the way to go about doing it. Plus, give EA some time. For the PC version they could release a patch, but ***NEWS FLASH*** game programming takes time! The game came out a freakin' week ago. There's no way it could be done by then.

Personally, I'd rather a game be buggy and try to push the limits than what'd probably be the result of all this. EA would pull out a lot of functionality, because it's not 100% perfect, and just release a stripped down game that's 100% QA approved. Player progression not quite right? Well, we can't promote it as a feature because it might not be 100% perfect, so we should just remove it from the game to cover our asses.

well, to be technical, a game is never 'perfect' in the mind of the programmers. Look at ID, with Doom 3, it'll be done 'when it's ready'. Halo 2 gets pushed back, because they want more time. Sports game companies (EA, ESPN, all of them) aren't afforded that luxury, and is yet expected to do as much innovation as those. I bet the MVP team would have loved 6 more months, or a year, or 2 years, to get the game exactly how they want it. Sadly, the world isn't one that allows programmers to have their way, there are deadlines.

                  <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

EA released this game 2 weeks before their competition, and 3 weels before Opening Day. Add to that, there was plenty of time to catch a bug as big as this in pre-development. Instead, they don't bother to beta test, and release an unfinished console game.

The only way to affect change is by taking action. We all know every game has flaws. We're willing to grant game companies this license in the hopes the overall entertainment of their product outweighs a few small problems.

You could argue technically, that EA has delivered what they promised. But it's pretty obvious that this highly touted franchise mode feature is debilitating to many people's continued enjoyment of the game. To say they shouldn't complain and it'll be fixed next year is a shocking admission of passivity. Why couldn't it be fixed this year? At some point companies like EA have to be held accountable for turning out games like this. It's people's right to push them on it.

People spent $50 for this. They have a right to question why EA has taken a crap in their mouth and called it a sundae.

you're right, people have the right to complain about a game to EA.

So basically, it is okay to release an unfinished game? You can release it, and deal with any problems what may arrise later?

well, to be technical, a game is never 'perfect' in the mind of the programmers.

People are likely to give a knock on something because they are dissatisfied as opposed to people who congratulate someone because they did a good job.

I for one, have never went back to Taco Bell and say, "Thanks a lot you did a phenomenal job with this Nacho Bellgrande". But if it was lacking something like tomatoes or other essential ingredients, we are going to either want another one, a better one, or our money back.

It's just human nature to complain if dissatisfied with something. But typical human nature doesn't necessarily apply as much here on OS, where many people have been praising the game as a great game.

At a survey at a restaurant or in the mail, a company is more likely to get negative responses as opposed to positive ones. That's just the way it is.
