Do you have to build your own stadium in owner mode? Or can you just use the one your team already has?

Re: Owner Mode Tips
I sim the season up the All Star Game because after the All star games the impact on home games are 6 and up. so i just manage those game so i can get the money for that game.... I keep doing that till the end of the season and do that for the playoffs also. But after the playoffs, I'm $10+ mil. in debt!! I followed the guides on how to price the tickets, etc. but its no help. I'm trying to get the last scoreboard upgrade and the last three seat upgrades but Im' nowhere near buying them. I've bought everying else except for those. I'm on year 2025. Someone please help me. Thanx in advance.Comment

Originally posted by dkgojacketsTheres your problem. You have to go for all seating upgrades first, as those have the most direct effect on cash earned (more seats obviously). Buy those when possible, and eventually you should make 2.5 - 3.0 mil per home game, then its easy to get the rest of stuff. I completed my stadium in the fourth year.Comment

Hey thanx, it worked! I started a new owner mode season I concentrated on the seats before all the other upgrades. In between i bought concession stands and store venues when my bank wasn't high enough for the next upgrade. I finished in 2011 though. 2 more years than yours. Like you said, I was making 2.5-3.0 mil ever home game so getting the rest of thew stuff was a piece of cake. Once again thanx for the advice.
P.S.- (SPOILER) I heard that you can change the logo behind home plate to your team's logo. Is that true? I also thought that getting all the upgrades will give you more a a bonus. Secret Stuff is just a dumb slide show of how the made up the create-a-staduim.Comment

No problem, glad you got everything. I don't think theres a way to get your logo behind the plate, as well as a way to get a bonus other than the lousy "secret stuff"

Re: Owner Mode Tips
Just simmed around half a season and I already made a bit of money (just barely green right now because I spent it on upgrades). Some of the things I did:
- well, I did a fantasy draft. Draft a LOT of $300k salary players if you're going the fantasy route, this will save you a LOT of money. Trade big salary guys if you need to get a couple of 300k'ers in return. I have 22 guys (yes, 22) on the roster that are paid $300 or $400k in my first year. I only paid around $55M in player salaries (per year) as a result. A few $300k-400k guys worth mentioning: K-Rod (from the Angels), Teixiera, Carl Crawford, etc.
- draft one or two "designated" franchise guys that makes the big bucks so you get a fairly decent media revenue. That's why Pujols and Abreu are the only guys that are making over $1M on my team, heheh.
- I only promo games that are 5/10 importance or less. 6/10 or above, I think they'll come crawling.
- do what everyone else had said before. Adjust ticket prices (there was a good post on that), buy seating first...
- I play once in a while. Usually I sim/manage the first few innings because it obviously takes too long if you play every game.
Good advice from everyone, it helped me a lot.

Re: Owner Mode Tips
Lots of good info on here. I've got 2 questions that I don't think I've seen answered:
1. Do the attractions do anything at all? I'm talking about the Museum, Kids Zone, etc. I bought a Kids Zone at the start of the season but I'm thinking of selling it if it doesn't really do anything.
2. Do the schedules change from year to year in Owner Mode? Will you have different interleague opponents and/or different opponents on different calender days from year to year?Last edited by TheUngorilla; 08-12-2005, 02:39 PM.Comment

Re: Owner Mode Tips
No one has really posted in this thread in a while, but I'll do it anyway since I have a question.
To those playing owner mode, did you guys ever see a jump in fan happiness when you purchased assets like the arcade and museum? I haven't purchased those yet since they don't earn any money for you. I finally got the next to last stadium upgrade, so I'm happy with my seating capacity, but now I need to fill up those seats. I was thinking about buying some of those fan attractions while I finish upgrading my scoreboard and all, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't a waste of money (not that they cost all that much). What do you guys think, is it worth the money to get the fan attractions or should I focus on scoreboard and HR celebrations now that my stadium is nearly upgraded fully?

Re: Owner Mode Tips
I hadn't touched MVP in close to a year.
Then, I found the book Moneyball at a thrift store.
I read it, then not so amazingly I had the urge to get back into the owner mode.
lol.
Funny how it had that effect on me.
Well, back into MVP I go!
