    Re: Owner Mode Tips

    HOLY CRAP!

(This is why I should've read the WHOLE thread before starting.)

I did a fantasy draft in my "Ownasty" (aka Owner Mode) Picked random and my Brewers started #1 pick so I was like Oh ok..well it WAS RANDOM...took Vladimir Guererro. Anyway what I'm saying is i should've paid more attention to salaries as my payroll is 103.5 mil. OUCH!!!!

Now I gotta start dealing some skillz.

Except for Vlad and Gagne (my 1 & 2 picks)

Tips on fan happiness early in the season?

Guys, is there any way to increase fan happiness early in the season? I know that winning gets everybody on board late in the season, but my fan happiness is never above 3 until the season is nearly half to 2/3 over. We always have a competitive team (3 rings in 4 seasons, level 3 seating, several concessions), but my souvenir stores always tank and attendance seems like it could be better. I can't get people to spend $ at the park, no matter what promotions I use to get them in the door. I also for some reason can't get anybody to buy "specialty" foods like burgers and Chicago dogs, no matter how cheap they are. Should I just dump the "Strikey Mikeys" type of restaurants and go with all vendors instead? (I think I will invest in some more peanuts, though; didn't know they were such a gold mine.) Thx

my fan happiness isn't too high (3 and a half), but I got it up some when I added homerun celebrations and a scoreboard upgrade. So far those are the only "fan happiness" things I have sprung for, but they did make an impact on my happiness scale. I want to add more things like that but I'm saving up for the $20 mil stadium upgrade, then I'll concentrate more on the happiness. I get about 28K people to each game, my stadium holds 33K.

My store items haven't been doing much either. I haven't investigated it much to see if I'm losing any money or not. I sell baseballs, caps, jerseys, cards, and a couple other things and they are usually around 33% sold for each game. Not sure if that is costing me or profiting me. But yeah, peanuts and soda are the way to go.

I'm noticing the same thing in my Strikey Mikeys as my Ichiro Burgers or whatever the specialty food is doesn't sell as much as i would hope so i'm thinking of dumping it and spending that cash somewhere else.

If you get fired from the owner mode, can you pick up with a new team, or do you have to start all over?

This sucks. I just can't make money, its the same every year.

I'm in the 3rd year of my A's OM, fantasy draft. My player salaries are 68.3M, and I went to the playoffs in year 1 and won teh WS in year 2. I can't seem to do anything other than break even at the end of the year.

The first thing I did was buy some concessions and promotions, but I never made enough money to buy seats during the season. How the F do you make money??????

I got fired first season. After you get fired, your done. You get this screen pop up that tells you how you did as the owner. You can see this screen if you retire from your franchise, just remember to save before if you really didnt want to retire.

Im too cheap to buy upgrades, I rather buy the concession stands and venue type things. You can see what my stadium looks like on my dynasty link and clicking on the stadium profile part.

I think I might try using the Cubbies and keep their current roster and see how I do. Obviously it'll be tough because their budget is high, but I like a challenge too

Ok, I haven't read every single post in this thread and I apologize if this question has been answere, but how do you keep your money? I upgraded to the first level of seating, side-line I believe. I wanted to get the outfield seats later, but I lose money on road trips, and I dont think I can make 10 million in one homestand. Any tips?

                          Flasher,

Owner mode is very realistic. No team makes 10 million a game or even a home stand unless its longer than 10 games. You have to understand when you go on the road you have salaries of players and coaches to pay each game. The first few months you wont make much money. Maybe 500-600 k a game, which is reasonable. Now when you get into the latter months of august and september you will start making more money. You wont be able to fully upgrade your stadium until years 4-5 with HR Celebrations, Ads, Seating, Concessions... Be patient and heres the best tip anyone can give you. MAKE THE PLAYOFFS

Ok quick question guys... I'm almost into the playoffs, and have about a few million to spend. I want to buy a concession stand or a store, but I'm having problems deciding which one to buy. I know peanuts sell the most, but what else are big money makers? so far I have Ice Cream, Pizza, and Peanuts and also the retro caps store. Thanks for the help

I think soda sells well also. Have you upgraded your stadium? If you think you can do that soon, I'd save your money for that, it will bring in way more money than a couple extra concessions.

Ok well I only have 2 million in the bank. What I figured on doing was saving my money for the next home series (I have a 3 team, 10 game homestand coming up) Then when I save up enough for a concession, most likely I'll buy the soda's, I'll buy that then just wait for the 33,000 seating upgrade.

How about stores? I heard some stores sell well, some just suck..any ideas?
