Too much of something is almost never a bad thing in video games. This way it caters to all audiences. For those who WANT to fix some things, now they can, and for those who think it's fine the way it is, that's fine too. You could complain the same way about sliders; with these people can adjust the game to make it easier or harder for themselves. I don't like them, so I don't use them, but that doesn't mean no one else should be allowed that option.
What a weird thread...Comment

I've always thought, my money, my way of playing.
If someone wants to edit their player's rating to 100 all the way then they have the right to do so.
I commend EA for allowing us to customize."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Originally posted by VanillaGorillaEA should let you change EVERYTHING. If you don't like it, just don't do it, Einstein. Some people might want to give a player high socks, or a changeup, because EA might have forgotten it. What a stupid reason to complain about a game.
I agree , I like the fact that if I feel a player is better or worse than EA does I can make the adjustments.
I would love it if Madden was the same way.Comment

Re: WTF...why does it let you cheat in owner mode?!
Another problem with allowing changes during owner mode, is that as soon as you make any changes to a player(even editting his socks), his contract is recalculated with MVPs internal algorithm, instead of using the contract he was assigned by EA. In virtually every case, it'll make the guy WAY cheaper, since people like Sammy Sosa's ratings are worth less than half of what his salary is.
This would be alright with me, since new(fake) players get much lower contracts with really high ratings, leaving you no incentive to take a real player. But if you can edit a player halfway through a season, or even after it starts, what fun would it be to trade for every good player in the league and edit them to get their contract down?
That, as I see it, is the bigger problem.Comment

Originally posted by dallasfanThis guy posted this same nonsense over at the mvp mania board. Lke I said earlier, I just don't see how someone could consider this stupid. Would you care to explain your point further drew?
The issue of contract recalculation could be valid, but I feel that if you want to value player's equal, go through and readjust contracts before you start your dynasty (should take about 20 minutes to a half an hour). This way, every player is contracted on the same scale.
If you don't want to do this, don't expect that younger players will be paid as much. It would simply create a weird formula for EA to compute (think the difference in contracts already in the majors...there are bargain players and there are vastly overpaid players).
The issue of editing as "cheating" is non-sensical. Allowing editing is the key for roster changes, and more importantly, allows the possibility of reproducing minor league players after the games release. This makes the inclusion of the minor leagues teams fun.Arsenal FC
