    Re: Trade Rumors Thread

Kelly Johnson and Ryan Langerhans are doing a great job in the corners for the Braves. The best (and easiest) thing the Braves could do to help the outfield, is bench/cut Brian Jordan. He used to be able to hit lefties, can't even do that anymore... I really hope they don't rush Francoeur. He's playing pretty well in AA, but I just don't think he's ready yet.

Honestly, I wouldn't make any big moves right now. Once we get Hudson, Hampton and Thomson back, our rotation will be in good shape.

The young hitters are doing a good enough job. Then when Chipper comes back, we'll have that much more depth.

The bullpen is beginning to take shape. Boyer in the 7th, Brower in the 8th, Reitsma in the 9th. That's been working out lately. Though it wouldn't hurt to add another experienced arm, and cut some of the dead weight (Kolb, Bernero).

We're in pretty good shape right now, I think. Even with all the injuries and rookies, the Braves would still be a playoff team if the season ended today (Wild Card). Not too far out of the division, either. I like our chances once the injured guys get back, whether we acquire anyone else or not.

Yeah. I love what Reitsma has been doing but we still need some insurance in there. Depth is always key when it comes to pitching. I mean, it's still June. Who knows what could happen to any of our pitchers down the stretch. I dont wanna be stuck if, God forbid, something happens that would put a pitcher out for a significant amount of time in September and (hopefully) October.

I like what Langerhans and Johnson can be doing but again, the depth is key. Since theyre rookies it would be really nice to have some sort of insurance policy in place should something happen and one of them falters.

We still got time though, right now we just gotta get the boys more experience, and I think they'd be good to go. Kelly Johnson has just been sick out there.

Dodgers arn't the only one that are interested in Joe Kennedy...A whole TON of teams are looking at him including the Giants,Braves and A's among others.

I just read about a pending Mike Cameron and Miguel Cairo for Gary Sheffield...

I doubt that'll happen. There's no way they give up an MVP candidate for someone like Cameron. They can get much more effective talent for Sheff.

that would be a terrible deal.. from the Mets side, they are giving up a relatively hot hitter right now, plus the better defensive 2B (which if they do that they will not get rid of the no-talented Matsui).. the Yanks would be foolish to give up sheff cause he is doing very well offensively for them at the moment..

                yeah, who knows...

I read it on rotoworld.com if you don't believe me, I forget the source they got it from but they have a link to the article directly stating that this trade was possible.

not a whole lot more, teams knowthe Yanks are backed into a corner. And if Steinbrenner wants to make some moves thinking it'll turn the season around then he's going to overpay...

                    Re: Trade Rumors Thread

I doubt it will happen either, the purpose of the Mets trading Cameron is to free up an OF spot for Victor Diaz to play every day. Acquiring Sheffield would defeat that purpose.

                      Sheffields take:

                      http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2097445

"If I have to go somewhere, I won't go," the Yankees' slugger told The Times. "If they said 'wouldn't you want to get paid', I'd say 'I've got plenty of money.' I'm not playing nowhere else, I can promise you that."

Can't blame Sheffield, I mean I would do the same thing myself. He turned down loads of money just to play for the Yankees. The Yankees AND Mets would be stupid doing this deal. The Yankees are so caught up with filling their center field... did they forget noone can replace Sheffield in right? I don't see why they don't go out and get Kotsay from Oakland and send away a prospect.
                        I do because I can, I can because I want, I want because you say I can't

because oakland want's their ONLY prospects, rumor says they want Wang/Duncan and someone else, and the Yanks would be incredibly dumb to trade Wang, he's their only young arm.

lol it's a bitter attitude to have but I'm loving how the Yankees have painted themselves in a corner somewhat, and are trying to find anyway to get out of it.

Even if they get Kotsay, their pitching is still very much suspect

I have heard that the Orioles has placed the Aj Burnett trade on hold and ar epersueing Jason Schmidt....

                              Jason Schmidt + Moises Alou

That deal is actually worse for the Orioles than the Burnett deal.
