Like I said before, I would much rather have Hafner's 17 HR's, 313 avg and 57 RBI. Not saying stolen bases aren't important but Hafner just seemed to be more important and overall did better.

When Podsednik is on base, .360 OBP, he causes problems that helps the rest of the lineup.
If he is making it so hard on the defense, why are his run totals so low? If he was helping the rest of the lineup so much, don't you think he'd score more often?

I'm not denying that a speedy runner being on base can have some effect on a pitcher. But there are lots of speedy runners. Doesn't mean they should all be all stars.

          ACTUALLY.....

          Travis Hafner .318 avg, 18hr, 58 rbi's, 54 R
          Scott Podsednik .289 avg, 0 hr, 17 rbi's, 50 R

Hafner has even scored more runs than Podsednik and Podsednik bats leadoff!!!!!!!!!

No, but this runner happens to lead the league in steals and is the catalyst for the best team in baseball.

              once again....

his baserunning stats are worthless when he has scored less runs than Hafner...

              Travis Hafner .318 avg, 18hr, 58 rbi's, 54 R
              Scott Podsednik .289 avg, 0 hr, 17 rbi's, 50 R

Now were there players who were deserving beside Scotty Pods? Of course. Was Pods not deserving? Absolutley NOT!

Now I'm not going to turn this into a Chicago-NY war but most NY fans need to spare me the NY-tears. I had a friend from NY who flew in for my wedding this weekend and we started talking about the old Bulls-Knick rivalry in the 90's. And I never called in a rivalry because the Bulls would always come out on top. The he starts to go on about how the refs called all the fouls for Jordan etc...boo hoo. Cry me a river and spare me the paddle.

As a Yankee Fan I can say that Travis Hafner is the most deserving player not to be on the American League roster and Scott Posednik does not deserve it because like i said before he is just a good player not an all star.

Sure a Travis Hafner or Hideki Matsui is more deserving, but as the 30th man, how much playing time will they see anyways? Perhaps 1 at-bat, if that?

With Matsui or Hafner, getting them into the game would mean getting them an at-bat, taking away an AB from a better hitter. With Podsednik, you have someone who can come in late in the game, strictly as a pinch runner.

*Yawn* So much more goes into a player than his stats. Have you seen the Sox play this year? The guy absolutly tears up the basepaths and is an instant spark to our offense. He has also played VERY stellar D and has brought so much to the clubhouse for the White Sox. Hell, the best record in baseball shows that. There was a huge campaign going on around the park and last night after the game Buerhle even got on a mic and told everyone to vote for Scott because he deserves it...and I believe that. Scott deserves to be there.

If you want to talk about a player who shouldn't be there then talk about Konerko.

As for snubs? Cliff Pollite and Hermanson are pretty big ones.

Hafner and Matsui have better numbers, but I don't have a huge problem with Podsednik being there.

He does lead the league in a catagory....
